There are about a hundred nicer and more professional ways to tell someone you don't have availability. I wasn't expecting them to magically squeeze me in, I was expecting basic customer service. Showed up at 3 pm for an appointment for 2 pedicures. All of the chairs were full, which was an…read moreinitial red flag. We asked how long, they said "5 minutes". Okay fine. By the time we were seated it was pushing 3:20. One person started working on my feet, while the person I was there with just sat in the chair. Another 20 minutes goes by and no one had even come over to help. The person doing my toes went off to help someone with a transaction. In that time 3 more people came in for appointments, still with no one to help them. At that point we decided to cut our losses and leave. So we spent 40 minutes doing nothing. I got my toe nail polish off and toenails trimmed, that's it. The person I went with had no service done at all. No one really seemed to care that we weren't being helped or that we walked out. The person doing my toes did apologize but otherwise it felt like they didn't care and they had put us in the chairs only to keep us there not to serve us. I'm incredibly disappointed as I've had great experiences here before, but being treated that way, with an appointment is unacceptable. If you didn't have enough people to serve us, tell us that. I would have happily come later in the day or at a different time instead of being treated like that. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

Asked for gel builder once we chatted about what I wanted, but she couldn't get the nails on straight. So she kept using the grinder and grinded my nails down so much I had to ask her to stop because it was hurting. She then was going to leave all the acrylic under my nails and I asked her if it washes off and she ended up spending a good amount of time trying to drill it all out from under my nails but that then took the paint off the tips and now they look all uneven. They are flat and raised and bulky and so uneven. At the end she said she knew I wasn't happy and said sorry she was busy during my service because she had to handle the customers and took the price from 75 to 60 "very cheap". Overall super disappointed and probably just won't go back at all. Super disappointed because it's such a cute shop and the atmosphere is cute and she seemed super nice. Just distracted and obviously didn't care about the quality.

Before that I had been getting European manicures and driving all the way from SLO to Orcutt to have them done. When my nail girl moved out of state she tried very hard to find and train someone to take over her clients, but she couldn't. And I quickly learned why. A true Russian/European manicure is an incredibly technical process. Yes, it involves meticulous cuticle work, but that is just the beginning. I describe it as part manicure, part art and part degree in architecture When it is done correctly, the structure of the nail is thin and natural-looking while somehow being unbelievably strong. No lifting. No breaking. No bulky product. No weird bumps as it grows out. Even weeks later the grow-out looks smooth and seamless. It is this almost impossible marriage of art and architecture lol and it requires real training, precision, skill and specialized products. Not even to mention, real sterilization of all tools and hefty knowledge of anatomy so that the cuticle cutting creates healthy nail bed not an inflamed one. You cannot walk into just any nail salon and ask for it. Trust me. I spent about six months trying. And then Yuliia entered the stage. She is Ukrainian and brings the level of European manicure technique I had been desperately trying to find here on the Central Coast. I could give you a hundred adjectives for how professional she is, how warm and friendly she is and how absolutely impeccable her technical skills are and none of them would really explain it. So instead I'll say this: just book with her once. She does everything from extensions and fancy nail art to what she calls a "natural nail" which is my personal favorite. It gives you that quiet, luxurious "she was born with those nails" look. Perfect shape. Perfect architecture. Impossibly thin. Impossibly strong. Beautifully clean. Yuliia is truly one of a kind and I feel incredibly lucky that we have someone with her level of skill right here on the Central Coast. Also, I am personally stoked to leave this review and watch her business soar as all of us Centrak Coast ladies get to enjoy her talent and skill!! Try her once and you'll be hooked for life.
