I've taken a couple dresses to Joe for tailoring and he's always done a great job with a quick turn around.

My wedding dress was pretty…read morecomplicated--with intricate beading, multiple layers, and a tricky length--but Shelly handled it all with such skill and care. She transformed my dress to fit me like it was custom-made, and I felt absolutely amazing in it! What really stood out was how reasonable her pricing was. While other places quoted me outrageous amounts because of how complex the dress was, Shelly was incredibly fair. She genuinely believes that brides shouldn't have to pay a fortune for alterations, and that mindset is so refreshing and appreciated. Her work is meticulous, her attitude is kind and supportive, and the entire experience was stress-free. If you're looking for someone who truly cares and knows what they're doing, I highly recommend Shelly and Dressing Up! I definitely have recommended her to a lot of my other bridal friends! I will definitely be coming back to her for more tailoring needs!

We were so close to finishing our alterations until I had to postpone the wedding once the pandemic started. At that time, Shelley kindly offered to hold onto my two dresses at her place. After a year, once weddings slowly started resuming, I reached out and told her I would pick it up to make room for her other clients, and she left detailed notes inside my garment bag so that we'd know where we had left off, and how much of the fees had already been paid. I reached out to her assistant in January 2022, and was easily able to resume where we left off with alterations. And I finally just got married late February !! By the way, the fees that Shelley charges are absolutely reasonable and probably the lowest you could find anywhere! Best of all, Shelley is so kind and funny, and made me feel so comfortable every time I came to visit. She knows her stuff, and does great, honest work. Both of my dresses were hemmed and tailored so well, and I'm so grateful for her.

They have a ton of stuff that made my gothy heart throb! Shoes, shorts, jackets, pants, purses, jewelry, stuffies, crystals and incense. What more could an alternative style girlie want?! I grabbed some jewelry, a healing crystal necklace, some incense. Found what I was looking for, and then some! It's a sea of black clothing when you walk in- love it!! They had limited plus sizes, otherwise I would have gotten some clothes. Super fun store! Great selection! Prices were steep, but how often to you find a unique store like this?! Service was fine. This spot is a must if you are in the alternative scene!

It's still a small store but it has all the goth goods you need in a pinch. There were Nine Inch Nails shirts but only a few designs that my friend wasn't interested in. The owner or shop keeper was talking it up with some kids at the register. Reminds me of the good old days when going to certain stores was a cool experience and Ipso is one of them. They are located on the west side of Harbor Blvd, north of Chapman and in the heart of downtown so there's plenty of restaurants and eateries to choose from and walking distance to the train station and if you want to catch the bus, it's on the same street as Disneyland, just a half hour south on Harbor.

I'm going through the racks and looking at all the dresses at which point the owner woman comes up to me and ask me if I need help and I describe what I'm looking for and she of course knows her store and what she carries in-store. Wanting to make a sake she says that there is no dress like that there but she can help me order one I told her I would need it the day of. She asks me if its for my mom, to which I say "no, it's for me". Her face is in disgust which then turns to laughing at me in ridicule. My friend who had come to help me, Mikey, than said to her that I'm very pleasing to the eye and if I want to see a photo. "Oh god, please no" is her answer. But their dresses are cheaply made and even the woman who worked there admitted they ran small. In most stores I wear a size 22, which is about a 2X, but their 2X would be more like a 16 or smaller. Even their 4 and 5 Xs didn't fit me. One was too big, the other wouldn't zip up. I can understand the dressing room rules, especially the part about men not standing around them - there's no doors, just curtains, and pull as I would, there was still an inch gap on either side. In the end I felt bad because I left with nothing. However, what could I do? Most dresses didn't fit. The ones that did were so huge even on a fatty like me I could've fit an average size woman in there with me. One thing I don't get, and even the saleswoman agreed with me that it made no sense, why do formal dresses always have to be sleeveless? A lot of women, both skinny and fat, should not show their arms. I guess if I dropped more weight I could fit into their 4X, but at this time, I guess I'm stuck with having to have the dress I need custom made because this was the only store I've found that carried formal dresses that actually looked like formal gowns. (Even Nordstroms has failed me recently.) But their idea of a 2X is just too small.

Dorie is so kind and accommodating. She was responsive over text, saw me very soon after I reached out, and finished my dress beautifully with the 2 week time frame she was given before the ceremony! I picked a dress from Lulus online and needed hemming, sleeves and bust adjusted, waist seam hidden, the sides let out, zipper replaced, a bustle added, and the dress has 3 layers. The pricing is detailed on the website and I expected to pay for the amount of work done in and in such a short amount of time. I am so satisfied with how my dress came out - it fit like a glove and made me feel beautiful, so any pricing felt worth it to me. Dorie is clearly an expert who loves her craft! Plus she has such a fun personality. Thank you again! Photo credit: Blanca Ayala/Let's Build Memories

Dorie immediately put me at ease with her warm demeanor, incredible attention to detail, and experience of bridal gowns. The final result was absolutely perfect. The dress fit like it was made just for me. It hugged in all the right places, was comfortable all day and night, and the bustle held up through hours of dancing. I had so many compliments, not just on the dress itself, but on how beautifully it fit. I took 4 pairs of pants totaling $80 to get hemmed for my new job, and she was not helpful at giving advice for how much to take off the bottom, even when i was asking for guidance. She was rude and did not provide good customer service whether that be in person or over the phone. I had to repeat what pants were mine about 6 times, and she could barely keep track of which belonged to me. When i went in to drop my pants off she complained about all the work she had to do and the customers that dropped the clothing off. Which I didn't think was tasteful. She also complained about me needing my pants done in a week, which i feel is reasonable. When i picked up my pants, nothing was labeled with my name and I can clearly see the stitching from the outside of the pants. It is so bulky down at the bottom that it creates this thickness and draws attention to the hem. Also the seams on the inside are frayed and have a bunch of loose ends everywhere. Service was extremely disappointing. From having complaints about asking them to be done in a week, to hearing complaints about getting other people's items done, to giving me attitude when i was asking how much to take off the length, struggling to keep track of my belongings and most importantly, sloppy work, I would advise you to take your business elsewhere.
