I Came in today for a full Brazilian bikini wax and had a great experience. The location is easy to find (right across the street from Whole Foods), and parking is free. Katia was friendly, professional, and patient. She is detailed and takes her time. I paid $58 for Brazillian which is a GREAT price! Sugaring LA charges about $70 for the same type of service. Her shop is small, cozy, and welcoming. Feels like home! This was my first time seeing Katia, but I'm not new to sugaring. I've been going to Sugaring LA (on Montana Ave in Santa Monica) for this past year. I've been enjoying their services and was always satisfied with the results. With that being said, I think that if you are looking for a long-term relationship with your aesthetician, go to see Katia. At other hair removal places, some employees come and go. You might find a great aesthetician that might not be there the next time you want to book your appointment. With Katia, you know she is always there for you and provides all the services herself. This is a very LA thing for me to say, but... she's a vibe. Very clean and comfortable space. Kept me sufficiently distracted from the pain with chit chat. And she was super thorough. I'm a regular at another sugaring spot. I loveeee my other girl too, but I did feel like Katia was a little more thorough in removing even those last stray and ingrown hairs. I found Sugaring by Katia via Yelp and decided to give it a try as an alternative to waxing. First off, the thought of someone "down there" and the subsequent pain that I knew I would endure doesn't sound very appealing. Nerves aside, I booked with Katia on StyleSeat (super easy process). Katia confirmed my appointment the next day through text, so I was happy to know I was all set. Katia gave specific directions to her location, but I still got lost. She was so nice and came outside to direct me. Her location is conveniently close to Abbott Kinney so that's a plus. Her studio is small but very clean and welcoming. I was nervous but Katia put me right at ease, explained the process, and we got down to business. I can't compare my experience sugaring with waxing, as I've never done the latter. Yes, it's painful due to the fact I've never done anything previously. Katia coached me right through, with a smile, and was very patient with me. Because of it being my first time, it's automatically more painful. But I committed to finishing and all I can say is "WOW". Been coming here for a while though not as religiously as I should. Katia is an absolute doll and makes the whole experience so personable. I would recommend her to any new person who moved to the west side. She is super clean, her place is so homey, and conversation with her flows so easily. She's very responsive (even to last minute requests). I usually park on the streets (neighborhood or on Lincoln). My most recent visit with her she said she would be running 10 minutes late and texted me as a heads up (thoughtful, right?) but ended up finishing her client at 6:33 (so no, not late but will try to be as considerate of your time). That's the only time I think she has ever potentially ran late. Katia finally gave me the courage to throw out my razor. I had been waxing for years and shaving occasionally in between. My skin is very sensitive and although wax had been better for it than shaving, I still had bad reactions and ingrown hairs. Katia took the time to educate me on why sugaring would work better for my skin and my hair removal and she was SO right! First off, the ingredients are all natural: just water, lemon, and sugar. Way less irritating for the skin. Second, the sugar isn't hot like wax so it doesn't inflame and you can go over the same spot twice to make sure all the hair is removed. Third, she pulls the sugar off in the same direction of the hair growth so less breakage! That means slower regrowth and fewer ingrowns. Katia has given me the best brazilian sugar consistently. I also have her sugar my full legs and underarms. I've been seeing her for over two years now. She is a delight to talk to and excellent at what she does. Oh my god I'm obsessed with this wax! The best thing ever! Every time I go I feel so light and my skin is so soft. This is way better than any kind of wax that you can find around and your hairs will grow very slow and smooth. I've never had any ingrown hair! As a new client I had no knowledge of what sugaring really was and she answered all my questions without any hesitation. Sugaring is an awesome experience. It doesn't require the use of heat and there's no strips like some wax places have. Sugaring caused no breakouts and I felt very clean afterwards. While I wish I could write "it wasn't painful at all" I can't because I have to say, a Brazilian wax isn't the most fun experience, but it is necessary and if you're going to do it sugaring with Katia is the way to go.
