First of all, let me tell you that I m a bit naïve when it comes to waxing. I only had a couple of boyzilians before, the last time, I bowed never to go through that torture again. But, my partner loves the clean smooth sensation of waxed skin, so she begged me to do it again. She found Yasuko through a groupon deal. she bought one for me to try as well. She said that Yasuko agreed to have service me, as it is there are not many estheticians who do men brazillian, so she felt lucky to find her even if we had to drive for 30 minutes to get there. I hated the idea and delayed it as much as a could, but one day she just took me there because she was going to have her brazillian done, jusy on time for summer. She told me she made appointments for both of us. The place was clean, relaxing, with a nice soothing music. We only waited for 5 minutes; as a client left a little room, Yasuko came out to say her good byes to her smiling female customer and greet us. She looked at me and ask if I was to go in first; my girl saw my hesitation and said she would go first. As they went in to the little room, I tried to concentrate on anything unrelated to the procedure. But, all I could hear from the room was light laughing and chatting. Ten short minutes later my girl came out smiling. Yasuko looked at me smiling as she candidly called "Next" . She opened the door to the little room wide as she showed me the way. The little room had a massage table, as expected, a chair to place one's belongings, and the waxing paraphernalia placed on a tall table. the little place was actually comfortable, cool and unintimidating. Yasuko was very pleasant . She said something that made me smile, I guess she knew how I felt and knew how to easy my angsts. She turned and prepare her materials as she instructed me removed my garments. Then, she asked me to laid down on the table facing up. She was so professional and caring, that I felt only a bit of bashfulness as she inspected and trimmed any long hair strands. She was very professional and easygoing, reminded me as the way I treat my female patients. I am a Register nurse and by instinct categorize service by cleanliness and caring. She got high scores on both. No doble dipping as my last waxing, she used only one ball of sugaring for my care and disposed of it along with her used gloves, and I noticed she washed her hands before and after my service :). Next thing I know, I felt completely comfortable, even at that otherwise embarrassing position. The pain is inevitable, I know, but she provided TLC at every pull, and would give a little break just to let me catch my breath and to ask if I was doing ok. She talked to me for distraction and even made me laugh while working on the most difficult and painful areas. Actually the pain was not as bad as my previous boyzilian waxing's. next thing I know, she was cleaning me and encouraging me to inspect her work. She said my boyzillian was easy because my hair was not very stubborn, and she thank me for not being a "cry baby" like meny other men. She said that the reason men dont do waxing/ sugarin is because we, men, are afraid of the pain. "Guilty as charge. hats off to you brave women" I said as we laughed about it. GUYS, come on, be more brave and do it for your ladies, if they ask you for it. I know there are not many places where they cater men, but if you can find a place, TRY IT!!!! Any ways, when Yasuko finish cleaning me and applying a toner she asked me how did I like it. I LOOK DOWN AND..... One word can describe her work....AMAZING!!!! I WAS AS SMOOTH AS A BABY!!!! My girl came in to check on me and she was more than satisfied with her art. SHE WAS SO THANK FUL THAT SHE HUGGED HER, for being gentle with me. Yasuko was so cool, she even hugged me for being a good patient, referring me as if she was my RN, funny. Yasuko recomended we should come back in one month to have the procedure again. It has been almost two moths and still smooth with little stubs coming out, she suggested we wait a little longer until the hair is at least .25 inc long. I can't say I am eager to feel the pain again, but we both love the smooth sensation of our sugaring brazillians, and we both loved Yasuko's work, that we don't mind driving 30 minutes to have her working her magic on us. I went in with the Groupon and will not look back. I love Yasuko! She does a fabulous job. It is a comfortable and clean environment, affordable and the sugaring is way better than a hot wax. The sugaring process might not be hot or anything, but the fastest appt would be 15-20 minutes and the longest could take about 40 (with a trainee). With a wax, and a wax with Lana specifically, it LITERALLY took 10 minutes. None of the reviewers are lying about the time it takes. The salon is on the corner of the street right next to Ralph's with a small parking lot in the back (free!) and it's super small - about 3 salon chairs and a massage room and a waxing room. There's really no privacy in terms of noise / you can hear everything in the whole salon. If you're ok with that, this will be the best wax experience you'll ever have. Lana took 30 minutes to see me which was upsetting at first, but she saw a client before me who came early and requested an extra service (so it went longer than she expected). Nevertheless she was a sweetheart, apologized over and over, and even offered to see me 3 more times at the Groupon price I paid for. (Even though I already purchased 3 based on all the great reviews). That's amazing customer service. Loved my visit and will continue to come back!
