THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ... PERIOD! I bought an online promotional offer for lazer vein treatment for $150 dollars (for both legs) and It was like i put my money in the toilet and flushed it myself! First i get there and this place looked like she threw it together from her home sheet set and Tupperware collection (aka - Costco Mayo jug). Don't expect much in the sense of comfort or luxury. Secondly, i get there and the owner is frazzled and doesn't even know how to turn on her computer much less understand the whole concept of the lifebooker voucher. She ask ME what was included in the package i purchased and the price i paid. When i told her I bought a package that included lazer removal for one leg... she was VERY hesitant and said it only included a small area and not the entire leg. Either i was deceived by the ad or i go the run around from this establishment. She had the nerve to say i was getting a "deal"... how was i suppose to even distinguish a "deal" from what i was supposably paying for. Before I sat on the makeshift table, she pulled a fitted sheet from a pile which was stuffed in a suitcase lying on the floor. She didn't acknowledge that this was my first time nor bothered to mention any precautions or protocols. I sat on the table for a total of 4 minutes max and she zapped around 5 individual veins the size of a my index finger tip (at most) on the front of each leg and a few on the back of the leg. Nothing changed from the time i walked in (2 weeks ago) till now... in fact she burnt my leg with the lazer in one area, probably because she was rushing through the entire procedure before she kicked me out so she could attend to one of her "regular" client who was 25 minutes early!! Everyone has their own opinion and not every experience is the same, but i wouldn't recommend this place. read more

I have done laser treatments in the past on a different body area and normally you see improvement after only one treatment. No so here. I'm updating an older review to add a star because of a new, positive experience with Layla. As my older review that follows below will explain, I switched from Layla to another facial electrologist some time ago. However, I returned to Layla on a surgeon's referral for specialized electrolysis on a different part of my body from my original Layla's experience. A few days ago, I was returning to town from a business trip, by car, for a 5 pm appointment. As I reached home at four, I received a call from Layla asking if I was on time. Only then did I discover that, at the time change, all the appointments in my phone's calendar had bumped back one hour. Then, to make matters worse, I found that my building manager had broken the lock to my apartment during my absence. Not only was I late, but I couldn't get to my anesthetic cream in my apartment without waiting for a locksmith. Layla provided new cream and an oral painkiller. She stayed late to give me the same amount of treatment time, and did not charge any extra for starting my treatment fully an hour after my scheduled time. She made my day. That is my new experience at Layla's that led me to raise my old review from three stars to four. ---- Now, for what I wrote in my original review: ---- This is a mother-daughter electrolysis practice on the west side just north of Ralphs and Trader Joes, on Barrington. The office is on the second story of a four story office complex. Plush sofas, Persian rugs, and Buddha knickknacks give the office a cosy feel. There is free 2 and 4 hour street parking in the blocks west of Barrington. Layla's offers two-technician sessions as well as marathon sessions. I have tried four different electrology practices and Layla's was among the top two. I had a total of about 15 hours of treatment before going elsewhere. Both Layla and Jeanette treated me. I have very sensitive, pale, vascular skin, and was noticing lasting skin discoloration and pitting three months after those 15 hours. Layla and Jeanette use 100% flash thermolysis. After each treatment, my skin remained pretty ugly for nearly four days. After roughly 12 hours of swelling, I experienced scabbing and redness that lasted nearly 7 days. Usually, there were several whiteheads, as well. I was having my face treated, and it was not pleasant to walk around for a week with these after effects each time. At the time, I thought this was normal for electrolysis. I thought it indicated successful treatment, when really it was over-treatment. When I noticed pitting and discoloration that did not fade, I researched electrolysis more and tried another electrologist that I now prefer. On my first visit, Layla sold me some topical anesthetic that was quite strong. That may be a plus for you, if you need pain control. With Layla and Jeanette, I preferred to use it. It was about $45. You must apply this cream an hour before your visit which also can be awkward, as it is white, and you need to wear plastic wrap over it until and during your treatment. I preferred Layla to Jeanette. To me, Jeanette was more painful and often asked me to twist about or lay on my side in a way that made an uncomfortable treatment more uncomfortable. Also, they both offered me some new product or service during every session, suggesting new lip gloss, moisturizers, laser treatments, or permanent makeup services. That might be great for some people, but I found it too much like door to door peddling: a bit annoying. There are some people who swear by Layla's and absolutely adore Layla and Jeanette. I know that some of their clientèle even spend time with Layla socially. I understand that completely. They are friendly people. I just didn't react well to their electrolysis. I have since had many more hours of treatment with another electrologist who uses a blend machine. My face looks nearly normal two hours after the treatment, there is no scabbing, and I'm pleased with the progress. Also, it is far, far, far less painful, for me, at least. I recommend trying multiple electrologists before committing to longer treatment sessions with any single one. Simply experiencing multiple technicians taught me a great deal not just about the process, but about my own skin. You don't want any lasting damage beyond hair removal. Blend treatment was far more desirable and effective, for me. read more

Actually, I didn't find her as much as she was recommended to me by my incredible doctor. First class talent will always associate with first class talent. I was carded. At the movie theater! The girl said they card people 25 and under. I started laughing! I am 37 and had just had a laser facial with Layla the week before! I have had every kind of facial treatment you can think of in every city I have lived in but there is no one better than Layla! My ooooh so cute freckles were turning into ooooh so ugly brown spots. Ca. Sun is brutal on the ladies and Layla said about 6 to10 treatments would give me relief depending on how deep the sun damage was. After a great steam, glycolic, extractions and microdermabrasion, I was ready for the 1200 watts! She said the freckles would flake off and sure enough the next morning I had 3 big ones come off while others that looked like well done toast came off with a buff puff! I just had my fifth one tonight and can't wait to finish the series! I saw great results with one but I want the full results I can achieve. Ohhh and a silly skin tag I had on my cheek for ten years she removed in sixty seconds as well.. I can't believe I convinced myself it was a beauty mark lol! I have been going to her for almost a year for facial hair removal, but my first session produced more results than months I had spent with another electrolysis tech in another city. Laser did not work on me (it does not work for everybody) so my last resort was the electrolysis needle. And I have had injuries with other electrolysis techs. But not one problem with Layla. Layla's treatment was okay her treatments didn't really work for me maybe because i am African American and i grow a thick hair full course beard with some curly hairs. I researched and found that there are different types/ modalities of electrolysis; thermolysis, galvanic, and blend,i found out that all three works for permanent hair removal but thermolysis is less effective for full course beards and more effective for thin fine course hair.I found that galvanic and blend works best for African American and thick course hair. I know girls who have gone to Layla and they grew full hair beards and her treatments worked for them. When i went to see Layla she would do the same areas of my face and the hair grew back. I am now doing electrolysis at another location and the electrologist is using the galvanic and blend and i am excited because I am seeing instant results. read more
