I have been here twice in the cold weather (after leaves have dropped and the first ice storm/snow) so I know that I have not been to this park yet at its best. I am guessing that's in the spring when all the leaves are back on the trees, plants are flowering, and the creek is running so I have something to which to look forward. But I was impressed nonetheless. Their are multiple hiking (trail running) options (that are separate from the horse trails) with varying distances depending upon your time allotment. There are several creeks running through the park so there are multiple crossings to be navigated (no bridges but strategically placed large stones). And there are bathroom facilities and a picnic area. And to top it off, the trails are well maintained and well marked, with trail maps posted at each major intersection. This should be the standard for this type of facility. While I love that the trails are not paved (hate concrete or asphalt in these types of parks), be aware that the trails can get quite muddy in spots after a rain or when the ice/snow melts. And it can be slick in some places. But that's why you come to a park like this. Enjoy it for what it is!! I hope that I can get out here during or soon after a snowfall!

We absolutely loved what little we got to explore and can't wait to go back. We met some friends here. They also have a little one. The flat trail was perfect considering my little boy is 28 lb. and I spend most of my time with him in a carrier on my back. Also, there's a great little stream. We saw people with their dogs playing in the water, which was very exciting to the kids. We ended up stopping there for quite a bit as the kids loved skipping stones and a break from our speed walking. I'm praying for good weather so we can visit here again soon!

So my family has been in Centerville for a long time...but somehow I haven't made my way over to Sugarcreek until this past weekend! I'm glad I did though! It's a nice, well-maintained park with some good trails for walking or running. Lots of families, dog walkers, etc. but it never felt crowded. The paths are nicely maintained. Some parts of the path are a bit muddy, but nothing extreme. I went on the Orange trail, which is a little over 1 mile or so. Not very hilly, takes you by the 3 sisters trees, and the Osage tree tunnel which is pretty cool. I would love to go back in the spring or fall when there are leaves and flowers instead of barren branches! I also went on the Green trail, which is slightly over 3 miles and gives you some good views. The creek had a low water level (really low, there wasn't even water in some areas) but I assume that's because it hasn't rained recently. There's bathrooms in the front (I didn't go, but my sister said it's like a clean Porta-potty), shelters with picnic tables, and signs along the way to direct you along the trails. I will definitely be back!

Sugarcreek is a lovely nature preserve that is perfect for trail running, hiking, and exploring. The trails are well-kept and easy to follow, and the creek, trees, and meadows are beautiful.

Beautiful park! There are three different trails that you can choose to do here. I loved looking at the beautiful colors during the fall and can't wait to come here to hike again. Parking can be limited at times as there are many people who love to come here!

What a great park! I only hiked a small portion of the trails here, so I'll definitely be back. The three sisters (which seem to really be two now) are some of the oldest trees in Ohio at 550 years old! They preside over a little meadow and are only a short, easy hike from the parking area on the orange trail, so even if you aren't a big hiker, you should check these out! The osage orange tunnel is WAY cooler than I anticipated, and I was already pretty pumped to see it. The branches arch over the path creating a very cool effect. The hiking trails seemed nice and varied. The orange trail, which I took, was an easy, wide path through the forest and bordering on a vast meadow with some beautiful wildflowers. There are trails through the meadow and throughout the rest of the forested area, and the trails are pretty well marked with posts a little after each intersection. They also have signage throughout that you can scan with your phone for a little more interactivity. The only negative thing that happened was the bees seemed to gravitate toward me... I'm blaming my floral smelling shampoo...

Pretty good place for a walk. Chose the green trail which is 3.1 miles is a very comfortable distance. However, it's easy to fall after raining.

A nice swing in front of the Planted Prairie.

We were coming mainly for the direct, easy access to the creek. With little ones this was something I needed. We were pleasantly surprised to find a great playground, picnic shelter, and just the best green space. Shade for days, which is perfect for hot days. The creek access is wonderful. Down a little embankment and you are right there. It's fairly shallow with some deeper parts. It's really easy to walk in. I highly recommend Keens or some type of water sandal with gripes. It can be slippery on the rocks. We found minnows, a water snake, and rocks. Didn't really look for much else as the kids were happy just to play in the water. The playground was great after they were done playing in the creek. Being completely shaded made it perfect for the hot afternoon. This is another near play area with various nature things on the outside of the structure and some cool things up in the tree house. They also had two small swing sets.

Great for picnics, etc. To the opposite end of the park, you'll find a large, open, grassy area, perfect for touch football. The playground itself is rather small, but the equipment appears to be in good condition. The big draw for us? The creek! What a great set up! Easy trek to the creek bed. Water seemed relatively clean (but cold!). The kids and I were able to wade around and hunt for minnows and fossils. Definitely the highlight of the park. Drawbacks: 1). Big groups using the shelter might fill up the parking lot fairly quickly. 2). Limited playground equipment. 3). Porta-potty, rather than actual restrooms - only one available (didn't use). Hands down, the creek is the reason to visit. We will definitely be returning. 4 1/2 actual stars.

They have also added a little wetlands area nearby to explore. The park features a splash pad, a gym structure, swings, tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic shelter, bathrooms, and plenty of green space. My kids enjoy the splash pad and have become braver with it. They also like the playground. The slides and ground get really hot during the summer so I'd wish they'd do something about that. I think the playground is a decent size, but pretty small during the very busy summer months. I like that the splash pad is open and my kids can run around and still be easily spotted. They have ample parking even with daycare/camp buses.

This place, as the other reviewer mentioned so kindly (helped me to find it!) is off of the beaten path and if you don't know where it is you will most likely miss it. Even my GPS couldn't find the address! You just have to know it is across the street from Bills Donuts, up the hill a little and to the right. There is a concrete sign at the corner that lets you know it's time to turn! The park itself is a decent size with a lot of variety within it's walls. You can play ball, take a stroll in the grass, enjoy their really fun looking water park area I am assuming comes on once it is hot enough outside. There is a really modern well maintained play area for kids with a working water fountain (pretty rare these days, eh?) and really unique elements within the play structure like the huge rocking booth see-saw for example. I would have gone crazy for this place as a kid! I took a ton of photos and posted them to the listing, if you want to get a better idea of the play structure. It really is wonderful, I highly recommend a visit! We drive 30 minutes out of our way for it once a month, and it's always an enjoyable experience.
