We were coming mainly for the direct, easy access to the creek. With little ones this was something I needed. We were pleasantly surprised to find a great playground, picnic shelter, and just the best green space. Shade for days, which is perfect for hot days. The creek access is wonderful. Down a little embankment and you are right there. It's fairly shallow with some deeper parts. It's really easy to walk in. I highly recommend Keens or some type of water sandal with gripes. It can be slippery on the rocks. We found minnows, a water snake, and rocks. Didn't really look for much else as the kids were happy just to play in the water. The playground was great after they were done playing in the creek. Being completely shaded made it perfect for the hot afternoon. This is another near play area with various nature things on the outside of the structure and some cool things up in the tree house. They also had two small swing sets.

Great for picnics, etc. To the opposite end of the park, you'll find a large, open, grassy area, perfect for touch football. The playground itself is rather small, but the equipment appears to be in good condition. The big draw for us? The creek! What a great set up! Easy trek to the creek bed. Water seemed relatively clean (but cold!). The kids and I were able to wade around and hunt for minnows and fossils. Definitely the highlight of the park. Drawbacks: 1). Big groups using the shelter might fill up the parking lot fairly quickly. 2). Limited playground equipment. 3). Porta-potty, rather than actual restrooms - only one available (didn't use). Hands down, the creek is the reason to visit. We will definitely be returning. 4 1/2 actual stars.

Shady and cool, in spite of the humid weather, and the best-marked trails I've seen at any of the Metro Parks I've visited so far!! I took the orange and blue trails, and even with my lousy sense of direction, I never got lost once!! Be sure to see the Three Sisters (now only two...) 550 year old white oaks on the orange trail, and the beautiful Orange Osage Tunnel, a real gem. Can't wait to check them both out in the fall!! Worth a visit... A true gem in the Five Rivers crown!!

The added gravel path is nice for those that can't manage the tougher, longer trails. The nature is just absolutely wonderful here. I see deer, birds, butterflies, moths, and bees among other animals. The trails are always well-maintained and CWPD is quick to fix anything that isn't. I love that it's connected to Forest Field too for additional trails and amenities. They do have an indoor bathroom at Smith house. They also have added a really nice picnic shelter with durable picnic tables.

Since our first visit back in 2015 we've been quite a lot. My review has changed a little, but not…read moremuch. The park is really nicely maintained. They have also added a little wetlands area nearby to explore. The park features a splash pad, a gym structure, swings, tennis courts, baseball fields, picnic shelter, bathrooms, and plenty of green space. My kids enjoy the splash pad and have become braver with it. They also like the playground. The slides and ground get really hot during the summer so I'd wish they'd do something about that. I think the playground is a decent size, but pretty small during the very busy summer months. I like that the splash pad is open and my kids can run around and still be easily spotted. They have ample parking even with daycare/camp buses.

This place, as the other reviewer mentioned so kindly (helped me to find it!) is off of the beaten path and if you don't know where it is you will most likely miss it. Even my GPS couldn't find the address! You just have to know it is across the street from Bills Donuts, up the hill a little and to the right. There is a concrete sign at the corner that lets you know it's time to turn! The park itself is a decent size with a lot of variety within it's walls. You can play ball, take a stroll in the grass, enjoy their really fun looking water park area I am assuming comes on once it is hot enough outside. There is a really modern well maintained play area for kids with a working water fountain (pretty rare these days, eh?) and really unique elements within the play structure like the huge rocking booth see-saw for example. I would have gone crazy for this place as a kid! I took a ton of photos and posted them to the listing, if you want to get a better idea of the play structure. It really is wonderful, I highly recommend a visit! We drive 30 minutes out of our way for it once a month, and it's always an enjoyable experience.

Orchardly Park is an excellent park for kids of all ages! I took an almost one-year-old baby here today. It is only street parking, but there were plenty of spots. The park has many trees, so there were spots of shade for us to rest. Many kids were playing at the park! But we played in the sand and used one of the many baby swings! This park is so much fun for kids of all ages! I brought a baby that's walking with assistance, and she had a blast! Other kids seemed to love running around and then cooling off in the splash pad. Highly recommend going here with your kiddos to get out of the house!

The park also leads you to the Kettering Rec Center. I love that the park is rubber mulch. I also like the really cool and unique play structure. I do not remember the pond being so big so I feel like that has had an upgrade in the last few years. It looked nice. I'm not sure if you fish there or not. I do think they need to figure out how to get bathrooms back near where the shelters and playground are because if not you are walking up to the way front. The paths are in nice condition and connect to the neighborhoods for longer walks or runs.
