Went in on a Saturday for gel fill in, left within 30 mins. The next day (Sunday) both of my middle fingers started to bubble and then peel off. I requested a refund and was told this is not a "service concern" and that it was because the gel wasn't cured. Very unhappy with the customer service as this was my first time here, and now for sure my last. The same week, my thumb nail popped completely off. I emailed them multiple times because I was not able to go back to that salon to get them fixed and was offered a coupon for my next visit... I wanted a refund and nothing was done. read more

This was my first time at the nail bar. I made an appt over the phone and was seen on time. Chloe did my nails. She didn't paint/dip the tips of my nails, which is so aggravating. The way she filed my thumb nail is also crooked. They look okay from afar, but are not up to just basic SNS dip quality. I will not go back to her, but the salon was nice and clean. This is my second time in sugarcoat, the first time I had Jen and the service was good so I came back for a second visit. I made an appointment online with Jen for their first appointment of the day but when I walked in the door, she was already with another customer. They said I could wait for Jen and she would be finished in 20 minutes, which I don't see how that would've been possible as they just opened. They asked me if I would let another technician do my pedicure and I agreed. The photos are the end result. The worst pedicure I've had anywhere. The pedicure lasted less than 25 minutes. I've also attached a photo of the time remaining on the Massage timer once they finally got it working. The technician was distracted, she was rough, she rushed, I had to ask for toe separators which I've never had to do before. To top it off during the majority of the short time I was there she couldn't t stay focused and was looking at the people walking in the door. At the end of the service I went up and paid, tipped as I always do even though it was a completely unacceptable service, and I said nothing. I thanked them and looked over and Jen was still with the first client. Could I have pointed out the poor service I received? Yes, I could have. But after reading the reviews, I'm glad that I didn't. From what I've read, it seems that they make up excuses or blame poor service on the customer, and who needs that? So I will echo many others, this place is completely hit or miss. If they can't keep their appointments straight and they can't provide quality service, there's no point in going here when there are so many other options nearby. My first visit was ok. My nails grow long but are thin. I get an acrylic overlay and wear them natural. I'm pretty reserved so I don't do a lot of color, maybe a nude or a French tip. I was paired with Linh even though I booked the appointment online with another tech. I assumed that she was the person I booked with since it was my first time. It wasn't until I put my hand in front of the dryer and saw her name and realized she wasn't the person I booked with. At this point she was half way through with my nails so I didn't say anything. I like my nails square (sharp edges). She didn't do them exactly how I wanted them but overall she did a good job. I tipped her $5 on top of my $57 service. Made a second appointment for yesterday and booked with a specific tech. When I got there I signed in and a lady doing a customers nails asked what I was getting. I told her a fill in. You would think if you're making an appointment and signing in they would know the service you're getting. I waited 20 minutes past my appointment time before I was escorted to a seat. I was placed at Linh's station even though my appointment wasn't with her. I was pressed for time so I didn't say anything. I showed her pictures of my nails and how I liked them filed and asked her to file them down a little because I don't like them too long. She said that would be extra. I told her not to worry about it. She asked if I wanted a French tip and I asked how much more would that be and she said $60. My fill in was $35. $25 for a French tip/polish was a little excessive to me so I told her nevermind. She asked did I want just polish and I told her I was just going to wear them natural. She seemed agitated and started speaking in her native language. Another tech walked over and they started a conversation and then the tech just stared at me. When I stared back she looked away. They continued to talk as Linh filed my nails once she finished she put oil on my cuticles (with the dust still on my hands) and told me to wash my hands. I came back to her station and she was cleaning up and said thank you as if she was finished. I asked could I at least get a clear coat or would that be extra as well. She put a clear polish on my nails without buffing them out so there was no shine at all. The lady she was talking about me too checked me out. I asked her why was I not paired with the person I made the appointment with and she said he doesn't do acrylics. I advised that the website does not indicate that only certain techs do acrylic and some don't. No tip this time and I had to ask for my receipt. It seems as though they nickle and dime for everything at this salon and if you don't do add on services they get upset. The two ladies were clearly talking about me in a negative way right in front of my face. Unbeknownst to them I picked up on a few of the words and phrases as my nail tech from a few years ago (who's also a friend) speaks the language and would translate certain phrases and words when we were in the salon together. I didn't ask for a discount or a refund and I didn't cause a scene. I would advise the staff to watch what they say in front of their customers. You never know who speaks your language. Although I couldn't understand all of what was said, I understood enough to be sure not to patronize this business again. read more

I planned a girls day with my daughters which started with a manicure and pedicure at sugarcoat nail bar. I made an appointment a week prior to for 1:30 for the three of us. When we arrived, we were greeted and I told them that we had an appointment for 1:30 for pedicure and manicure. They seem a bit confused and told us to wait a minute and then we were told to go and sit in the three pedicure chairs. We sat there for a good 50 minutes. before someone came to do our pedicure. And that was just for two of us. My other daughter had to wait longer for someone to come to do her pedicure.. the person that did my pedicure scraped my heels so bad that they were bleeding and had to be bandaged. And my manicure was awful. The manager had to reshape my nails for me. She did apologize and she did not charge me for the pedicure or manicure. Waiting there so long to get our service done when we had an appointment was ridiculous. It made us miss our restaurant reservations. We had to wait longer to get a table. And by the time we were done eating, the stores were closed so we were unable to go and do our shopping that we planned on doing after dinner. Spoiled our whole girls day plan. I feel that when you make an appointment for a certain time that appointment is honored for that time. Apparently at Sugarcoat Nail Bar that's not the case. Apparently it doesn't matter if you have an appointment or not. The person that was doing my feet told me they didn't have enough people. They should've never said yes that was a good time to come in then they should've communicated that to me and we could've worked out maybe a different time to come in when there were enough people to take three of us at a time.. I enjoy getting a manicure a few times a year and this place is close by so I decided to try it out. Not to mention, my husband got a manicure here a few months ago and he was very pleased. We walked in, no appointment, and got taken in quickly. I got a pedicure, classic, and hubby got a express manicure. I mentioned I had a broken foot and declined the massage but I wanted the callus treatment. So 5 bucks more, no biggie. Picked my color and on went the pampering. I have to say, I get numerous pedicures, and this is the FIRST time I did not get a top coat. After the color was applied I was told you can sit here or where ever. Thought that was odd, no offer to dry in a specified area etc. OR top coat to prevent chipping. I waddled over to a spare chair, careful not to bump any toenails, and waited for my husband, who.was getting a manicure. After he was done, his nails were far from buffed. He had received tons of manicures and always came out with shiny nails, without nail polish. He came here once before and they used the spinney buffer tool. When questioned further about that specific tool, they said $5 more. Ok, no problem, EXCEPT all they did was put clear nail polish on. Who does that?!. When questioned, we were told he should have asked for it, yet he did and then got clear polish. Ridiculous. Not coming here again as they do not understand their offered services and it should not matter if it's a Male or female, which they pointed out to my husband, unless advertised on brochure. I have had my nails cleaned up to a 100 times. But for some reason when I come in here and say I want my nails manicured, buffed, and polished it is not always something that is ordinary. I had my manicure and had my nails rubbed with a shiny polish but I never got the buff and polish. Then when they said we were finished and we asked why they hadn't pulled out the spinny buffer thing they said it would be $5 extra and then proceeded to put nail polish on my fingers and call it quits. Now even more odd is the "Express Manicure" (see picture) says that it is "Finished with your polish of choice color..." But they say that does not count for guys. So no buff and polish, nor "polish" of choice. And I paid $5 more for "polish" and not a polish. Wow! Ok...Maybe after doing this dozens of times something has changed, but it should be obvious that a nail trim, buff, and polish are standard. So I have Shinny nails and nothing is as it should be. I had a bad experience at Sugarcoat Nail Bar in Kingsley, Fort Mill. I had a reservation for a gel manicure and classic pedicure. I arrived on time and ended up waiting a little over an hour for my service to start. Staff did not care that I had a reservation and were not very apologetic about my long wait. My nails are not good and they look sloppy. They're hardly manicured. The polish was applied poorly overall. My fingernails have several tiny bubbles and toenails need another coat to cover the sides and to even out the color. I hardly got a massage, it was not relaxing at all, and it felt like I was there forever. Overall it was a bad experience and I wish I would have went to a different place. This place is near the restaurant I was going to after so it was suppose to be convenient (it ended up not being). The delay in service caused the rest of my evening to be messed up which was just horrible. I will not be back and I do not recommend this place. My mom had planned a fun girls day, which included mani / pedis for herself, and my sister and I. This was the first stop on the agenda but turned out to be a nightmare. We didn't get sat until 50 plus minutes after arriving to our appointment that was scheduled for 1:30pm. Once sat, my mom and I had our technicians doing our pedicures while my sister had to wait until my mom and I were about finished! They told us that they didn't have enough staff to do my sisters at the same time as us. Needless to say they are not organized what so ever. While my mom was getting her pedicure her technician scrubbed her foot so hard the manager was having to bandage her foot at the end because it was bleeding so much. As we're finishing up our gel manicures my mom showed us her nails and we were almost confused with how awful they were to the point the manger even was in disbelief and had to try to fix them. The manager of course was very apologetic due to the open wounds and very uneven, clumpy, gel nails she was left with. My sister and I's nails were subpar, certainly not worth it. Long story short, don't let the area of this establishment confuse you, it does not belong there. Oh, and to cap it off due to the fact that they didn't have enough staff to accommodate the app my mom made plenty days in advance, we were late to our dinner reservation and then had to forgo our other plans that evening. The customer service at this establishment is horrible, the chairs and utensils were not clean and an employee named Huey was not only rude, but extremely disrespectful. When I walked through the door the salon had ONE CUSTOMER. Despite the fact that business was slow and several employees were working, no one greeted me at the door, smiled, or even said hello. Instead Huey yelled across the room asking what I wanted. When I told him what I wanted, he rudely motioned to the sink telling me "wash your hands". After washing my hands I went to the pedicure seat he motioned to. It was covered in dust, and debris. I asked Huey if he could please clean the seat. He used a dry, dirty rag to tap the chair twice. He then went to the back of the salon. I thought he was going to get a clean towel, some water and cleaner to finish the job. Instead, he came back and motioned for me to sit down. I asked him once again to clean the chair he said no. It became clear to me in that moment why the salon was empty. I have been to several nail salons in Charlotte, but never have I experienced such horrible treatment and poor customer service. I WILL NEVER VISIT THIS SALON AGAIN and I encourage anyone looking for a clean nail salon and good customer service to look elsewhere. I pray Huey learns something about customer service. I have never!!! My husband and I have never been treated with so much disrespect. You think in 2022 minorities would have learned how to treat each other. I came in to treat my hubby to a routine pedicure and the pedicurist refused to scrub the sides of his feet due to the amount of excess that came off. No waffle was requested as it's not recommended. When I addressed it in the store hut Pham told me they can only scrub so much, when I asked why didn't Thi Kim tuyet nuygen didn't touch the sides of his feet Or his heels at all, and received a blank stare and i asked for a discount since we didn't not receive the full service, assuming that would be an satisfactory thing to do, since it was evident the young lady was uncomfortable with the amount of skin coming off. The tech again a blank stare as if he didn't understand English. I then I asked for their license number and the owner and they refused to provide. I asked if they would provide their license and he read off the board. I asked if I could take pictures and he ( Pham ) agreed. After asking again for the owner the tech became upset called me names and said he didn't have to provide me with that information. Leaving the store I noticed the rating from the cosmetology board, and the tech had the audacity to cover it up and say I didn't need to know that information. Thankfully their license number has to be displayed. When I attempted to get the owner information this is what I received. See below. This establishment clearly doesn't not welcome all. To think as a minority and respect a culture who has a history of oppression you would think being in an America one would appreciate diversity versus inflicting a continued status quo of oppression. Next step board of cosmetology. Im sure they would like to know the behavior of establishments representing their approval This behavior has continued for entirely too long! The quality of manicure is sub par when they're busy. Some techs are very nice, and do a fantastic job... some not so much. Last time I had SNS there it was way too thick, my cuticles weren't even pushed back, and the shape was odd. I had that manicure redone only days later. Another thing on SNS, they don't have a lot of colors to choose from (especially nude colors). They are best here with gel, but not when the salon is busy. This was a Solid pedicure. My toes were pretty when I left so that's half of the battle. The massage was a bit weak and the prices were higher then I normally pay. I don't mind paying more if I'm getting a kick ass massage. Everyone was super nice and welcoming. They made nice conversation but not too much. I was able to relax. Very updated and clean without any overpowering nail polish smells. Perfectly done gel polish manicure and nice personable staff.
