The ice creams come in different sizes (e.g., kids to pints) and different flavors (e.g., vanilla and chocolate), may be put in a homemade waffle cone or cup/bowl, may be mixed with different mix-ins (e.g., pineapple, chocolate-chip cookie dough, butter candied pecan, Biscoff cookie, cotton-candy pops, pumpkin roll, pistachios, Oreos, and Fruity Pebbles cereal), and may have different toppings added (e.g., sprinkles, chocolate, marshmallows, Heath, gummies, Reese's, and whipped cream). My husband and I were customers here one time. I felt very interested in trying their customized ice cream, but the weather outside was very cold, so I instead ordered a Mexican cocoa. Unfortunately, this location in Beaver Valley Mall (a similar franchise exists in Boardman, Ohio's Southern Park Mall) is just a typical self-serve frozen yogurt joint complete with the machines, the toppings bar, the scale, etc. Of course I loaded up on chocolate frozen yogurt with hot fudge and cheesecake cubes and a bunch of other confections I probably shouldn't have added for the sake of my health, all of it chilly and creamy and acceptably tasty. The interiors were clean, inviting, and colorful, though. These fro-yo places just tire me, but everyone else gets excited about them, so here's another one for yinz.

Take the customer's order for a float and then inform them at the window that you're out of vanilla ice cream. Bruster's, the region's ice cream behemoth with their headquarters less than 1/2 mile down the street. Out of vanilla ice cream. Out. Of. Vanilla. Ice. Cream. 3. Ask the customer for their registered phone number or some such without explanation. Please...I just stopped for ice cream. 4. Make sure that the small ice cream in a waffle cone barely reaches the top edge of the cone. This happened last time, too, so maybe there's some new portion policy. This was never an issue at the old location Ice cream should be a happy thing, not the cause of angst.

How has it been since I last had a Blizzard?…read more Witch Flavor, Beaver's nifty new ice cream parlor, was unreachable due to a car show/parade/street fair going on, so after lunch at Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe, we came here to get ice cream. I know, I know. I said that I wished for DQ to be struck down by Witch Flavor's slingshot in a recent review but we were sort of stuck, not to mention craving. Anyway, back to the Blizzard. Man, I remember when these first came onto the ice cream scene, causing a commotion. Like Van Halen, they've spawned an immeasurable number of knock-offs. Not being able to recall the name of my Blizzard, I can tell you that mine involved an unsafe dose of fudge. I dunno. There was something lacking to it. I think that Witch Flavor's Penn State Creamery ice cream has made DQ rather irrelevant. I mean, when I was ten, I used to get excited about The Outfield. At age thirteen, I was listening to Anthrax.
