I stopped by at around 6 pm and it was quite empty, making it a decent study environment. I ordered the tea shot which is a tea version of an espresso shot with less caffeine. When I make the treck to downtown I made sure to hit up a new coffee spot. We just finished dinner and I wanted my cafe fix. This place is located in front of the Climate Pledge area so I had the bf drop me off while he looked for parking. It's about 6 PM at this point and majority of their pastries sold out. There was only one homie working. As an ex-barista I give him 5 stars because he was pulling weight! It can be stressful and he was doing a great job. I decided to get the iced Vietnamese Latte. I think next time I'm going to stick with a regular latte and try their regular espresso. They used an aeropress instead of a Phin and the taste shows it. It was watered down and the beans weren't proper Vietnamese coffee roast/brew. It was still sweetened, but I just wish my cup was full 100% instead of 75%. Indoor seating available. We stopped by Sugar Bakery & Coffeehouse as we were walking in the area looking for a quick snack. We came at an odd-hour (3 PM) so a lot of their food items were sold out. We ordered the Powderpuff Latte, London Fog and the Turkey Sandwich. Powderpuff Latte: I honestly had no idea what this would taste like and I still can't pin-point what was in the drink. It tasted like a mixture of different spices. I probably would not get this again, I just wanted to try it since it sounded unique. London Fog: This was my first time drinking a london fog and I really liked it! This is a blend of earl-grey tea with vanilla and milk. I would definitely get it again! Turkey Sandwich: This was really good for being as hungry as I was. However, if I was not too hungry I probably would think this was just an average sandwich. With the Yelp check in, we ended up getting 10% off which was super kind of them. One other thing to note is that this place is good for work (plenty of outlets). We ended up sitting on the bar and they had an extra outlet and cable out so I was able to charge my phone which was running low on battery. Decided to give this place a try again when my family wanted a quick coffee and bakery items for breakfast. I went in with my inlaws who are visiting from California this morning. The sign said they open at 7:30 and it was 7:30 as we were walking in. The door was unlocked and when we went inside the lights were off and no one was at the counter, all of a sudden an employee walked out from the back, saw us standing there and shook his head and rolled his eyes at us and didn't say anything so I moved closer and asked "are you open?" and his response was "well the lights are off, no one is here, and we open at 7:30, the sign is on the door" I pulled my phone out and showed him that according to the sign they should be open now, he then sighed and just said "what can I get you?" I should have turned around and told him how rude he was and told him never mind but we ordered and now I regret it. I got a basic matcha latte and unfortunately it's also pre sweetened and they don't have any unsweetened matcha options. Matcha was mid, the bakery item I got wasn't great, and service is awful and rude. Not sure how this place has good reviews. I was embarrassed after taking my inlaws there and having them treat us like that. Never going again. read more

A last minute decision to visit, after a meeting at the Seattle Center mid afternoon on a Friday, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover this beautiful gem! First of all, space is huge - the bar is smack dab in the center, with plenty of seating along the edges of the coffee house. The way it is set up makes it convenient for solo visitors to come in and do work on their laptop. I ordered a nitro cold brew with oat milk and the barista brought it to me with a quaint little jug to hold the oat milk. It's your average coffee shop price, I believe the 16oz cold brew was around $7 after tips? I also noticed that they had some incredible-looking pastries that I should've tried. We stumbled upon this place while waiting for our timed reservation for Chihuly Garden. Sugar Bakery is a short walk from Seattle center and provided a great space for us to eat, drink and rest. When we arrived around 3PM, the cafe was slightly busy with a healthy amount of people seated both inside and outside. There's a display of pastries near the front and a good selection of coffee and teas. We ordered an iced matcha latte, almond croissant and a havarti croissant. The almond croissant was quite good but a little more on the sweet side. The havarti croissant was a good savory option and wasn't too in your face like other cheeses can be. We originally ordered a matcha latte but were also given a hot one that was made by mistake. It was definitely a happy mistake since the latte had a good matcha taste while being creamy; something you'd expect from a good matcha latte. The staff was very helpful and friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted. I would recommend this place to anyone nearby Seattle Center and want a good drink and a snack. read more

Craving something sweet, I was happy to find Sugar Bakery & Coffeehouse was not only open but also offered slices of cake. Even though a good number of reviews noted their slices can sometimes be dry, I took a chance since I was stopping in earlier in the morning. I went with the Pink Champagne and Red Velvet slices. The Pink Champagne was moist and flavorful, however I wish there was more raspberry jam to balance out the hefty amount of frosting. The Red Velvet was the right amount of sweet and filling. I'm not usually a fan of chocolate truffle, especially in the middle of cake, but it wasn't overwhelmingly rich so it blended well into the cake. The slices were delicious, and I'll definitely come back to try a few of their other cake offerings. However this would be more of a special treat versus a consistent occasion, as the price tag per slice ($9.30 each, not including tax and tip) is pretty hefty. I'd find the price tag more reasonable if the slices were bigger, as you seem to get more frosting than cake. read more

I love I was able to order a live plant but wish there was a way to pick what I'm getting or have options and it would be even better if it came packaged in something nice but that's just something extra. This place has the best croissants I have ever had! I always look foward to stopping by whenever I am in the downtown area. My go-to has always been the salted caramel croissant. The hint of salt after you bite into it is also heavenly. I also have to add that it is also buttery and luscious on the inside. It really is such a well executed pastry, and it has always been my favorite item that they usually always have. However, my most recent visit, I had the opportunity to try their Thanksgiving croissant. I've never seen it before so I was excited to try it. Let me tell you, this one was even better than the salted caramel croissant. After I quicklt finished it, we actually went back to see if they had more, but sadly they ran out! Anyways, the Thanksgiving croissant was just so good. I mean, the turkey, stuffing, and gravy all in one bite, backed up by the soft and buttery croissant, just was unbelievable! I was told there was cranberry sauce inside as well, but I actually never saw or tasted any cranberries. That didn't matter at all though because is was so good. We also get the chocolate croissants and the plain butter croissants just to have the next day. Those are also amazing! They sure are flakey, and super buttery! The chocolate is pretty rich and luscious too. Just very solid croissants, and whenever they don't have the salted caramel, my next go-to is the chocolate croissant, and it is still amazing! I've alwags been interested in their other desserts and pastris as well, but we always fund ourselves getting a bunch of croissants. Just do it and you will have a out of body experience. The Havarti croissant. Ok. so they need to set up a disclaimer and let you know about the mustard. It has mustard in it! I mean, I don't love mustard. I expected a nice flaky croissant and havarti cheese. Instead got the cheese and mustard. No warning. Pretty gross. Coffee - we had a drip coffee and a pour over. The pour over is worth the 5 minute wait. Delicious and fragrant with notes of snobbery and cherry ? I felt better about myself after I had the pour over. Like I had felt like I had succeeded at life because of this coffee-- just get it. Don't ask questions. Overall, this is a pretty great coffee shop. I would def return. Expect average prices. I've been coming here for years. It was hands down my favorite coffee shop to go to on days/nights to study but now my 12 oz latte with simple syrup costs over 7$?! Sure they had to increase their prices but charge a full dollar for simple syrup? Most cafes offer for free, and they used to make and offer for free now it costs staggeringly more because they chose to stop making it by hand? It's literally sugar and water? How can I tip on top of that when it's already closing in on 10$ for a small drink. I used to love this place and always tipped more because they had fair prices that allowed me to do so but now they're offering less services, shorter hours, and charging nearly 30% more for a no frills drink. This place is located in Lower Queen Anne, near Seattle Center, around the corner from KEXP and so forth. They have another location in First Hill too. This LQA location is convenient for me as it is right on my bus line so it's easy to hop off and hop back on. Whatever. Came by a few times to get some treats, desserts etc. Most of what I've tried so far has been pretty ok, not wonderful but not bad. It's a nice bakery/coffee shop, good amount of tables to work from, read a book or just relax. Good amount of savory or sweet items to choose from. Nice coffee options as well. I've tried a few items so far, the Tiramisu Crepe Cake, Chocolate & Vanilla Cake, and the Lemon Polenta Pound Cake. All were just ok to me, not bad, not the most flavorful.....not meaning sugar/sweetness. It's nice looking treats but the flavor doesn't pack the biggest punch. Staff has been friendly when I've been here, will pack up your items nicely in a box, been pretty quick on getting your order up (at least during off peak hours), overall it's been fine. I do like the chill afternoon vibe there, I would consider working from there if I ever have to work from a cafe, in which I never have to do that so I probably won't. read more

I understand that in a post-COVID world we need to be sensitive to short-staffed places. As someone who comes from a blue-collar small business, service background I feel this mightily. However, unfortunately I was in this cafe today for a total of 15 minutes and there was one person working this entire place. She would not make eye contact with me or the persons in front of me to even say "Hey, be right with you! Thanks for your patience." Came here based on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. We had 3 croissants: regular, chocolate, and almond. Their regular croissant was good but nothing to write home about (4/5). Chocolate croissant was 5/5 and almond croissant was a 3/5. Though the almond croissant had great flavor, it was overfilled and way too sweet. I had to scoop some of the almond filling out but once I did, it was perfect. In terms of flavor, I think the almond croissant had the best flavor and most potential if it was just filled with a little less almond filling. We also got 2 lavender shortbread cookies to go and those were amazing! I would highly recommend getting some to go! read more
