Let me start by saying that in 2021 alone, the move with Suddath was my third long distance relocation. I move A LOT. Things started to go downhill with this move prior to packing day when I tried multiple times to reach my coordinator (Bonnie) and there was zero response. On packing day everything SEEMED normal. Two men arrived, we did a walk around, they packed, and everyone left for the night. One of them was on the phone basically the whole day which was annoying, but you can't complain about everything. Now that I'm complaining though... he used speaker phone so he had a medical procedure on 11/8 and his copay was $1,500. Someone in his family was also going thru a divorce and there was a lot of shame and drama being discussed with the rest of the family members. SMH. I'll mention here that having booked a hotel for days around the move, the apartment was "pack ready" - all of the linens were washed; all things were in place for an easy and organized pack. Enter loading day. The truck driver and a new crew arrived and things went from bad to worse. I am skipping some parts here - so don't read what I've provided and think "ah not that bad" - There's a lot more that's omitted. The two crew members arrived clearly having partaken in a certain (now legal) recreational drug on the drive over. Nice. During the morning, one of the gentlemen took three (3) 20+ minute bathroom breaks - and unless you had some bad dining the prior evening, there is likely some (not legal) drug use occurring. Cool. Eventually that crew member stopped helping with the loading entirely - I'd later be told that he was "hurt" and the driver asked him to stay in the truck. Hurt, high, useless the entire day. The other crew member was another phone happy fella. Except he preferred video chat. He recorded and held multiple video chats sharing my home, my belongings, ME!, the building where I lived, even when we were loading from my storage unit he was recording and on a video chat. I know there is no nefarious intention here, but this is crossing a line. It's a violation of my privacy and unprofessional. At this point I was upset and impatient. The loading process took exceptionally longer than my expectations. Bottom line, there were 3 men in a crew to load the truck - on was on drugs, "hurt" and unavailable - another was on video chat basically the whole time and when he wasn't he had resorted to telling me to "smile" and mentioning that I wasn't "fun" anymore - and the driver who was taking the inventory AND loading everything basically alone. Once I reached my new destination I looked at my electronic inventory documents. The inventory from my apartment listed "dirty, scuffed, scratched, all over..." for every single thing. This is the most ridiculous inventory I have ever seen in my life. First, why didn't I get to see the crews identification of damage BEFORE he had me electronically sign that inventory. Second, how can every single item I own have the exact same damage description - which was basically dirty and ruined all over? BS!! The point is to write the exact damage they "inherited" so that new damage can be claimed. The best part about this is, for one piece of furniture, there is a small but legitimate "damage" - that had they actually inspected - would have been pointed out just like every other professional mover has done! I did not even receive an inventory document from the second stop (storage). Fast forward to delivery. One guy assisted the delivery - he did 98% of the unloading because the driver was already informed I "complained" about loading crew and he didn't want to come into my home (this is what he told the unload guy). Nice. It went mostly fine and they went away. I say mostly because at origin the moving crew disassembled two TVs and at destination I'm told they don't put them back together. I'm not sure why... usually when you take something apart, you put it back together and make sure it works. But they refused. I'm capable of putting the TVs back on their feet but it's annoying. When Bonnie (yeah Bonnie became my coordinator again the day before unload day), called to check in I asked her about this and she had some real attitude about it like why couldn't I unbox my own TV... I can, again that most definitely is not the point I was making. If you unscrew something I expect you to make sure you have all the screws with you at the end to put it back together - and if you don't want to, or I didn't buy that service - then don't unscrew my stuff. Now it really starts... You'll see the pictures I attach at the carelessness at which these guys boxed up my belongings. There was absolutely no care given to anything they packed, and no thought given to the way they backed things. Do not use this company if you value your belongings. Suddath packed up our house and marked every item of furniture as damaged. According to their inventory sheet (that they do not let you see or sign) all or our furniture appears to have come from the landfill. This is their way to document (false) damage so they don't have to pay a claim later. They stored our furniture for two years. The items in one crate were wrapped with moldy furniture pads destroying 3 leather items that they refuse to deliver or even put on the truck unless WE pay for the repair!!! This is without a doubt a company that is out to screw the customer at the customers' expense. Use Suddath at your own peril. read more

Suddath went above and beyond to accommodate our move date, as we sold our home more quickly than anticipated. They helped me with packing and moving all our items into their storage facilities. WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!!!! Household goods were packed and crated April 23 and 24th in Little Rock AR. We were told we would receive them by May 2, 2013 in Abilene TX at the latest. Then we were told on May 3, 2013 a truck broke down. Then they told us May 4th half of our stuff made it to Abilene and they did not know where the other half was located. May 5th they told us it should all be in Abilene by May 6th. May 7th we were told that it arrived but without any paperwork so they were not able to check it in. Now it is May 8, they are not returning our phone calls, and they are not giving us any information as to where our household good are or when we will be receiving them. read more

Moving with this company was a disaster. My boyfriend was stationed in Las Vegas with the Air Force. He finally ended his 6-year term and moved back to Ohio. The USAF was kind enough to pay to move him back, which was such a relief since moving can get expensive when it's across the country. Unfortunately, they picked the lease competent company they could find. It all started when the movers were supposed to come evaluate our things to be moved. They never showed. So we called them a few days later to make sure they were still coming the next week to pack everything up because we were leaving the next day and it had to get done. Yup, the nice lady on the phone confirmed the movers would be there between 8 and 10am. The night before moving day we got all our things ready on our end and woke up early just to get the things we couldn't before (toothbrushes, shower stuff...). Well, 10:30 rolls around and still no movers and no call or e-mail with an explanation. I called the company to ask what was going on and the lady said she would figure it out and call me back. 11 o'clock and nothing. So I call again, she said she just left a voicemail for us (neither of our phones had rung) and that the movers will be there between 1 and 3 now, I told her we were leaving for Ohio early tomorrow morning and it needed to get done that day. She said it would, just later. Great, a whole 3-5 hours late. So we waited. I called at 12:30 just to make sure the movers were actually coming this time, another friendly woman answered the phone and said that they were there. I checked around and saw no moving truck, but it was a large complex. So she gave me one of the guys number and I called, just as they were about to knock on my door. The movers were all very friendly and efficient, but it took until 7:30 for them to pack and move a 1 bedroom 900 sq ft apartment. 8 Hours! Before we signed the papers we asked what day we could expect our furniture to arrive at our new home. We were told anytime between the 1st and the 8th of June. Awesome, that wasn't so bad, we could go 2ish weeks with what we packed. The 8th rolled around, and we heard nothing about our furniture. Again, we called the company and asked where it was, "still in transit" they said. I explained that we were promised it would be arriving no later than today and this was a bit of an inconvenience. I was given a phone number to call of some other person who was in charge of approving outside fees, like me having to eat out all the time since my cooking ware was still not . here. The name explained to me that the shipment only had to be within my "area" by the 10th and that it just arrived in Columbus. I'm a half a state away from Columbus and it's nowhere close to my "area", I explained. I then asked if I could hire my own moving company to pick my things up, or just come get it myself and then be reimbursed because they failed to deliver what they promised. He said they did deliver and if I move my things myself there would be no reimbursement. I then asked when we could expect our things. He said the 14th. 6 extra days. 6 extra days to sleep on an air mattress. 6 extra days to cook with one pan. 6 extra days to not feel settled in my own house. To not even have my books to read or TV to watch as entertainment. 6 extra days of not having a couch to sit on or any sort of furniture. That doesn't seem like much, but had been 2 weeks without it already and my patience with their incompetence was wearing thin. I asked if we could do anything, they could do anything, to make it get here sooner. Nope, it was their busy season. I just had to wait it out. I asked them to do their best and call me back if anything changes, after we updated our numbers with them for the 4th time. They called back my boyfriend, and told him to that I wasn't rude but I need to "watch my tone". I never got rude, or yelled, or swore at any of them. I just explained what an inconvenience this was and I wasn't going to take a simple no for an answer. It seems Suddath moving would rather women been seen and not heard since they thought my "tone" of frustration was just too much to handle when they failed to provide the services they offered. Our things finally arrived on the 14th, and again the movers were quite nice and amiable (but they didn't wear uniforms, wich I thought weird and unprofessional). read more

Moved from Ft Lauderdale to Greensboro NC. Initially the service was amazing! Eager to please. Punctual. Great packing & loading crew, clean & polite. Even delivery was quick and timely. HOWEVER - the damage that was done to our belongings was inexcusable!! There was no TLC in the way our belongings were handled! When they opened the bag of the moving truck I saw how hap-hazard the boxes & furniture was placed inside. I gasped, but hoped for the best. Crushed boxes, damaged contents. Lost the charger for my vacuum. Then the claims process was nothing to brag about. We have made MANY cross country moves over the decades THIS was the worst experience. read more

I have been surprised in the past for lousy service, unfair business practices, terrible attitudes, and unethical behaviour; but Suddath (A subsidiary of United Van Lines), topped them all. I was moving to a new location and wanted to hire the most professional mover I could find. I called United Van Lines who referred me to Suddath, the company that provides moving services on their behalf in South Florida. The salesman came over, looked at everything in my apartment, armed with an electronic tablet, and issued an estimate far above my expectations, but I agreed. We signed all the paperwork, and set a moving date for 2 weeks later. And here comes the surprise: Literarilly the day before moving, when everything was packed and ready to go, and the apartment keys were to be delivered to the owner, they called me to tell me THEY DIDN'T HAVE A TRUCK for tomorrow!!!! I thought it was a joke until it hit me. Had to believe this happens with a national company that charges so much. It turned into a complete nightmare. DO NOT USE UNITED VAN LINES NOR SUDDATH. With dread I started researching companies for my move from Margate to Orlando; I've had some nightmare moving experiences. There's a website called movingscams. com, and I found this company as one of the few RECOMMENDED moving companies. They lived up to that reputation. The consultant Dan was professional and thorough and everything happened exactly as promised. They even cheerfully accommodated changing the pick up time on 2 days' notice. The movers Darren and David were efficient and careful with my belongings, and so pleasant to deal with. Bonnie from customer service called to make sure they were on time to load my stuff, and she called again just after they finished offloading to ask if I was happy. Great and caring service! Their price was very fair for the excellent level of service, they were on time and always communicated promptly. We had sold our furnished rental town home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and I needed to move 1/3 of the furniture to VA and 2/3 to CA, with variable services at each destination. From the very beginning it was all about their procedures and the way they do things, with hardly a pause to hear the details of my needs. Because I live in Virginia, and no one is at the home in Ft. Lauderdale, I asked to get a rough estimate based on assumed weights destined for each location. I told them that I would arrange for a realtor to show them the home, if I chose them based on their preliminary quotes. They refused to give me any quote whatsoever until they had physically inspected the premises. They claimed this "was for my protection, as well as theirs." Other companies are bending over backwards to earn my business. This company acted as though they would be doing me a favor, and only if I conformed to their rigid template for doing business. I moved twice in 15 months from AZ to FL and then back to AZ, with 5 kids and all of the corresponding "stuff!" Suddath made this move manageable! In fact on the move back to AZ, there was a week in which I was going to be working with another company, and it was going truly poorly! I immediately called Suddath to come to my rescue. Moving is stressful for all parties involved. Suddath has it down so they can help you in an organized fashion. Hopefully I will not need to move for years now, but if I do, I would definitely call Suddath! read more

DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!!! Horrible! The Florida end of this move was atrocious...and that's where the company is located. I used United out of Chicago when I moved from Champaign to Florida several years ago and all went well. What was damaged was covered by insurance- no issues. The packers provided on the front end are crucial to the move. If it isn't packed and handled properly- which mine was NOT...it cannot possibly make it through the move undamaged. The first pair of movers (they really needed 3 men but provided 2... that I sincerely feel they picked up off the street and likely offered a minimal wage and free dinner) literally threw things in the truck- I had to give items away to neighbors because they ran out of room in the truck...the movers who were to pick up the load the next morning at the warehouse in Deerfield Beach...and who were awesome...had to unload the truck and said that they were appalled when they arrived. They ultimately fit the entire truckload into a little over half of their same size truck....proving that the first 2 loaders had no clue what they were doing! I ended up with damaged items but felt okay because I had paid for the full coverage insurance. Moving into a high rise in Chicago with 1/2 the square footage from which I had moved (single family home with attached garage) meant pitching some things that were not important. I told the movers to just pitch some of the broken furniture because we moved in during torrential downpours and flooding (we actually moved out of Florida under the same conditions). Big Mistake- I should have taken photos of everything...but I had nowhere to store it. I decided to only submit a claim for the damaged original piece of art- a pastel valued at $4500.00. Everyone involved in the claim process seemed to agree that it was a small price to pay for such abusive handling of a fine piece of art. I only submitted the claim for re-matting. The actual pastel had become slightly detached on one side and crooked and the chalk from the pastel had been scattered onto the white matting- a result of very rough handling. It was not damaged on my move down 2 years prior because it was packed and handled properly. I researched framing places and found a highly recommended framing service to re-mat and repair for approximately $450.00- a steal! They declined the claim because they blamed it on age of the piece. I've spoken with the original framing company and they disagreed with Suddath's evaluation. I paid more than that for the full coverage insurance because I was told that it would cover everything...I've also always purchased that same insurance and have never had a problem...but I also never dealt with anyone like this company! And I incurred other damage that they did to a nightstand, TV stand, Bose Radio, 4000PT Stairmaster, smashed dishes- I was also missing some free weights which have never been found- None of the aforementioned were submitted on a claim. At the time, I was only concerned with the art....and thought that my being more than fair and understanding would be the Right thing to do. I learned another BIG lesson...the golden rule applies to all people and things but moving companies like Suddath! I strongly urge everyone to NOT USE SUDDATH Relocation out of Deerfield Beach, FL. They make promises that they don't keep- just bad business! I've been in sales all my life- I own a business and my father owned a business- have many friends who are business owners- small to very large- we would not be in business if we Operated the Suddath Way! I will do everything in my power to ensure that others don't fall prey to these unscrupulous people. read more

But for a couple of items that were broken (nothing major, major) and the fact that they did not put the legs back on my dresser and chaise lounge, I would have rated Suddath 5 stars. Having said that and given the experience they (and I) had with the condo management company, I could not have asked for a better moving experience. Beginning with Patrick (the sales rep who came to give me an estimate), I was quite surprised because I had heard such horror stories about moving companies. Patrick came to view my belongings and gave me some pointers on how to pack, and things that could be left for the movers to pack. He was spot on with the weight of my belongings so I had no surprises when I got the info on the amount I would be charged for my move (local move). He clearly explained the facilities, insurance, etc. I visited the facility before I made a final commitment and was impressed with the facilities. The office administrative personnel, Victoria, Bonnie, Paula and Rick were the best! They were very professional, cordial and made sure that my move went smoothly. NOW TO MY MOVING CREWS!!!. I have to give KUDOs to all of the guys (I don't know their names, but my driver was Daniel). On the move to and from, they were on time and even early when my belongings were delivered. When my first crew came to pack and move, all of the items they packed in boxes were packed so well, it took me a few minutes to get the boxes open. I had a LOT of "stuff"!!. They came at 8AM and were done by 12noon! The move from storage was almost stress free (by no fault of Suddath). Rick worked with me to get some issues resolved that were caused by my condo management company. He made that experience tolerable. Again, my move crew was phenomenal. I was apprehensive because I was not sure how they would handle the move up to my condo located on the 4th floor. With one elevator, I don't know what kind of system they had, but whatever it was, they worked as a unit and were able to deliver my belongings in a reasonable amount of time. The driver and loaders were by far the absolute worst I have seen in over 20 years doing moves in the Marine Corps. The driver showed up without enough space on his truck to fit a 4 bedroom homes HHG's. He was told he could leave the boxes marked storage and only take the important ones and then have someone pick up the other boxes later. He said he could make it fit. At the end when space was limited/nonexistent he laid 2 plasma screen TV's on their side to slide them up against the roof to get them into the truck. Then when no room was left what so ever the back doors of the truck were slammed repeatedly up against my furniture until the doors would actually shut. With no room on the truck my King size mattress was strapped to the back of the truck with 3 dollies hooked on to it and crushed with cargo straps to hold it into place and the box springs we placed under the truck in the storage space. This experience with the driver and loaders alone made the move a total failure on the part of Suddath. i would not personally hire this company to move my trash cans to the back of my house after true professional movers "trash men" did the hard work and emptied the cans for them. read more

I used their services, and they were very helpful and very professional. I have limited mobility, and when the estimate was done, not everything that was in the apartment was moving. The person that came over was very professional and did the estimate without me having to guide him from room to room. And at the end of the day, was accurate. My property arrived as promised, on a delivery window of a 4 hrs. Not a whole day, one of my daughters was the one who was at the departing place, and my other daughter supervised the delivery. Prior to any of us saying anything, the delivery person, told me of a table that had had too many things stacked on it resulting in the legs being broken. He had the pictures, reported it to the office in front of me. A claim form was emailed to me, and within a week I received a check reimbursing me for the value of the table. There was no haggling , no having to talk to 100 people, no "the check is in the mail". I view this just as important, when evaluating any company. When something goes wrong, how long does it take to correct it. There response was excellent. As a comparison I had called another moving company, and they wouldn't even bothered sending a person for an estimate, telling me they'll match anybody's estimate , which turned out not to be true, thank God, because subsequently I found out that their glowing reviews where all bogus.
