Sucre Cafe was off to a solid start at the beginning of COVID-19. Overtime they began to lack in the basic cleanliness necessities that normal restaurants uphold. I have come here for a couple years to study for exams so I know the typical standard. It makes me uncomfortable when I study till the establishment closes & show up at open and there are crusted urine stains encompassing the toilet and floor in the AM. I noticed this pattern as I began to deep clean the stained toilet mess for them 3 days a week just to sit down. On top of the encounters with Mens bathroom lock being broken, & having been exposed to countless people on several occasions even after alerting the establishment of the issue upon the first occurrence. I can safely say that they have lowered the bar for the amount of effort required to keep this place running. I see the front staff members sitting down until customers walk in so I guess that sets the tone. read more

There were flavors listed for a smoothie, but they also had the option of making your own, so I got the taro smoothie with boba. It was really good! There was an option of getting two sizes either a large or a mason jar, and I got the large which was really filling. The store itself is very cute. My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try, and I had some mixed feelings after leaving here. The place itself is one of the nicest cafes I've ever been to. They have a beautiful ambience and I love the furniture and decor. Looks like the perfect place for dessert on a date, or a night out with friends. There are plenty of plugs and free wi-if, so I can expect a lot of studying to be done here by me in the future. We came around 11AM, and there were only 2 other people in the cafe. We ordered jasmine green milk tea and the chicken, pork belly, pulled pork, and fried chocolate ice cream buns. They milk tea came out in literally 60 seconds after we ordered, wooo, but the buns took FOREVER to get. The boba in the drink tasted soggy and overcooked, but the tea itself was fresh and tasty! We waited for 20-25 minutes for the food to come out, but when it came, I was blown away how good it was. The meat in the buns were super tender and the flavors of sauces were amazing. My favorite was the pork belly bun and honestly, the food blew it away for me. The fried chocolate ice cream ball was super tasty and I felt bad for my girlfriend since I hate almost everything HAHA. I'll come back to try their crepes and other foods, but I won't be as excited to try their drinks in the future. We opted for the tropical teas that day, and a small order of popcorn chicken. I also noticed that they served Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. It's been a while since I had an Otis Spunkmeyer cookie! I got a snickerdoodle and the 5 year old version of me came back to life. The tropical teas were pretty good! I appreciated that they offered less sweet options, because I really prefer minimal sugar in my boba teas (ironic, I know). The popcorn chicken was pretty plain; it needed seasoning! The Otis Spunkmeyer cookie was awesome, as always. The shop is located in a strip mall, and there's good parking here. The staff member who helped us was very nice and friendly. I asked about the menu they have here, which is a rotating menu (at the time, it was Mexican fusion), and he gave pretty good information on it. Overall, this was a solid place for boba tea. When I heard this place had Kim Chi fries I had to check them out. They did not disappoint. I've driven by this place time after time and can't believe it took me so long to come in. The atmosphere is very clean, modern, yet cozy. The girl who took my order was cheerful, kind, and told me if I ended up not liking something I ordered....I was welcome to take it back and try something new free of charge. It was refreshing that they wanted to go above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied. It was my birthday (I didn't tell anyone) so I wanted to "pig" out. I ordered the Kim Chi fries, fried chocolate ice cream and two of the steam buns. The kim Chi fries were to die for. So creamy, crisp and tangy. This will definitely be one of my new guilty pleasures. The pork belly bun was pretty good and so was the other pork bun I ordered. I think it would have been perfect it had something pickled for a little acid (like carrots or the cucumbers) but nonetheless it was still tasty and it's hard to complain when they are a mere $2. Their take on chocolate fried ice cream was perfect!! The fried bun stayed crisp for the duration of eating it and it was a perfect pairing for the chocolate creamy ice cream (it tasted like Bluebell but who knows). My long awaited review of Sucre Cafe: Over the 6-7 times I've been here, I have not been disappointed. My favorite part about this cafe is the AMBIANCE! There's a weird little coffee dripper doodad at the from that fits right in with the (fake) fire place. Excellent place to study as this place come equipped with outlets lined along the wall as well as tables for groups in the center. Everytime I've come here it's been bustling and hustling will customers (mostly younger). As for the menu, they have all your Instagrammable drinks like Rose Gold and Tropical Breeze Beach Melonberry, etc... They come in those little Mason jars so you can get some extra likes if you pay an extra dollar to take it home. Then, you can recreate your favorite Starbucks scene in hip fashion. All this to say that the menus unique and decently priced with waffles, ice cream buns, chicken bites, kimchi fries all that good stuff. read more

Came here last min cause mango mango ran out of dessert on their opening day. This place is cute and the menu is extensive. Was surprised they had regular food along with drinks and desserts. They stayed open way pass the closing time listed on Yelp, probably an hour which was very nice. They were still taking orders. Service was wonderful, they were all so nice and friendly. I ordered the fried ice cream and jasmine green tea. The fried ice cream is a scoop of ice cream inside a fried bun. The fried bun wasn't impressive because it wasn't crispy but just thick and tense. The jasmine green tea was good but I've had better. I also tried the waffle with ice cream, this was really good. I would get this again and try another drink. This place is clearly run by ambitious highschoolers. This was my first visit. The poor cashier may have been on her first day and seemingly put in a sink or swim situation. Her fellow coworker was pretty brash with her and quite condescending. I purchased an avocado smoothie, the texture was wonderful and flavor just OK. They made an error and forgot to include Boba, they happily replaced the drink with Boba but as you can see less than a teaspoon of Boba applied. I also ordered chicken, It was completely flavorless and for such a small amount I feel like five dollars is a complete rip off. It's my low-key favorite place to go to for studying, and I hope they never ever close. SERVICE Typically I start out my reviews by going into the drink quality but I really need to point out Sucre's AMAZING hospitality and service. During their first opening weeks the baristas would walk around from table to table and ask guests about their comments/opinions/criticism to help the place improve. Even now, months later, the barista who took my order took the time to introduce drink options and offer their wide array of syrup flavors + chocolate/caramel drizzle to top my cappuccino. And I don't know how they are during busy hours, but he took the time to come out from behind the counter to hand me my drink. It's the little things that count, Sucre, and I hope you keep these things up. DRANK Sucre's offerings are a little reminiscent of JavaHaus' in Richardson Chinatown, but unlike its competitor every offering I've had from this place is solid. Sucre advertises itself (according to its logo) for coffee/boba/desserts, and of those three I've only had coffee and smoothies, but they're solid in both categories and definitely worth the money! The coffee comes out strong and in a Lavazza cup, rather than some unlabeled styrofoam w/Land O'Lakes (no offense to Land O'Lakes) cup creamers. I expect these elements from a cafe! Their Mangonada smoothie tastes so fruity and fresh and lacking in gross fillers of any kind. AMBIENCE Lots of wood, quiet atmosphere. It's roomy, with outlets along the wall for you to feed your computers while you feed yourself. Nice balance between natural and electrical lighting, with a pseudo fireplace set up along one of the walls next to low-set couches. 6 months later and just wanted to give a little update. I'm still in love and obsessed with this place. The owners have become our friends, and always make sure we are happy with what we order. Our main girl Lena, alwayssss hooks it up, and we have become close friends as well. I just love the friendly, family atmosphere. You can tell everybody that works there loves their job. Besides the great staff/atmosphere, their drinks and food are amazing too! I recommend trying the spicy fried green beans if you haven't yet and also the chorizo omelette fries!! I've only been here two times! I got one of their dessert waffles the first time, and the second time I got Paradise Island and the chicken bites. To me, Sucre Cafe was and is just OK to me. The first time I went was during their grand opening and the second time was months later. I'm never super impressed by whatever I order. The dessert waffle feels a little lacking compared to what you can get at Cafe Brown Sugar (if you're willing to drive to Carrollton). The drink I received was refreshing with the fresh fruit, but it pales in comparison to other fresh fruit drinks I've received in Austin or Houston. The chicken bites felt a little plain again because of what I'm used to. It didn't have basil bits or any garlic on it with a squeeze of lemon. But for the cost, it was pretty affordable; just plain to me though. As for the actual boba..let's just say we always order the boba but it remains uneaten even after we come home. I think right now I prefer Bobaland for drinks. The place itself is very cute. It's large and spacious; perfect for studying or chilling. Staff is very kind. I think, for what it is, and //where// it is (East Plano), it's exactly what Plano was missing hence all of the 5 stars. I went here to try a new boba place that I've never been to and I will not be returning. The Thai tea and boba itself is not bad, but I got my drink and it wasn't even close to being full. So I asked the girl to fill it and she said she can't fill it because I asked for no ice. That's absolutely ridiculous. I've never had this experience with anyone anywhere else. Happy another drink place opened up near home! Fiance and I usually go to Bobaland for our tap fix but we get tired of them pretty fast. They offer a great smoothie/slush/coffee menu to fit whatever tastes. You can create your own or choose from their special menu. Fiance ordered the pachango (peach and mango slush) and I ordered the tropical paradise tea. I love the fact that they use fresh fruit! Drinks here aren't so sweet or artificial tasting. Besides drinks they serve snacks like popcorn chicken and waffle desserts. This is great hang out out/study spot. Plenty of outlets and can accommodate large groups. We met the owner and he reassured us if we weren't ever satisfy with any drink or food that they'll happily remake it for us.
