i came here a couple of times when they were just a drink cafe with friends. haven't been in a while so i came by with my boyfriend to try the crawfish, and as someone who grew up in louisiana, im very particular about how it's soaked/boiled, and this place hits the nail on the head. the crawfish themselves are ginormous, flavor is incredible, but the spice level was a little bit unpredictable. i got medium, which is my usual, but it kicked my ASS. and i can handle spice very well. will definitely get their mild spice level next time. read more

Nice to be back to try their crawfish boil. There's honestly a whole lot of items I wanted to try from their menu but the crawfish is calling my name. We first went here just for some fruit and milk tea drinks then our eyes caught their menu. I've been driving by this place for so many years now. Update!! Added another stars after my 2nd visits. This time we had crawfish, crab soup and durian crepe. All of which were really good and enjoyable. Even though their crawfish is not big as we want it to be yet, we will comeback when it's crawfish peak time season to try it again. New find! As they are one of the only boba store open at the beginning of Dallaska storm. They have combo meal that are very affordable that made me want to come back another day. No sides, no distractions, no potatoes and corn nonsense -- just damn good crawfish, and that's exactly what I wanted. The flavor actually soaked into the meat, not just dusted on the shell. That's rare. Perfect spice level, deep seasoning, every single one hit. It's early in the season, so I wasn't expecting much, but the size was surprisingly solid too. That alone impressed me. I hit a lot of big all-you-can-eat boils, so I know the difference between mass batches and someone who actually cares about the cook. This is the second one. Small spot, big flavor, and the owners are super kind on top of it. This is my new place when I want that immediate crawfish fix without the circus. I was so excited to eat here since it's been years since I've visited, but I was so disappointed and disgusted by the cleanliness. There were several ants and other bugs that were in the utensil holders and even around the water dispenser. I told the cashier immediately and she called her manager to clean it. She replaced the straws, but there were definitely more bugs in the other utensils. I had to ask for new utensils from the back because I didn't want to risk using the ones in the holders. I was disappointed to see the cleaning job the manager did after the cashier informed her. No disinfectant used or anything. She just brushed the bugs away. I wish I took my food to-go since I wasn't comfortable eating here after seeing the bugs. But the katsu fried rice came out looking good. I'll give it one star because it was tasty and flavorful but I really couldn't stop thinking about the cleanliness of the kitchen if that's what the utensil holders looked like. I ordered the Merry Mango Smoothie and added Mango Popping Boba. It came with whipped cream and there was only one size unfortunately. So this is going to be the review that I personally hate to read as I generally avoid commenting on anything except for the food and drinks. Don't get me wrong, the Special Milk Tea w/ Boba and Espresso Shot that I got at 25% sweetness was great (though I wonder if this is 25% sweetness, what would do to me with the full sweetness :( ). No comments on their food, it does look great! However, I had to drop a couple of stars because of their Internet connection, maybe this was my luck, maybe a bad day but if I am here to study/work and I cannot get more than 2 MB/S I will likely go somewhere else. Ruins the ambiance overall if you cannot connect to even google maps and connection is just SO SO weak (took 55 sec to load ONE google map page). Another point, about the internet password on the receipt, felt very weird, but that is just me - I am used to the Austin style coffee house where the password is right there. There is actual pineapple on top and it is blended well. A little bit on the sour side but not too bad. The Lavender Lychee definitely had lychee in it (2 whole lychees). It tasted more like lychee than lavendar though and there were seed bits that would ocassionally end up in my mouth. VIBES There's lots of room to sit and study or catch up with friends. The lighting is pretty dim and the tables are wooden. I would note that the tables (or at least the one I sat on) were sticky and not cleaned despite there not being a lot of people around. We've been loyal customers for years!!! It's a peaceful place to go and we know whatever we order, it will be good. Its been a FIVE STAR place for us until now. If today was my first visit to Sucre, I wouldn't go back. The girl at the register had an attitude and that definitely made for a bad vibe. I asked her a few questions that was important to me. Her response to everything was "I don't know," with her fist buried into her cheek, hanging on to the register, rolling her eyes. I swear if I asked her if she would like us to leave, she would have said yes, lol. Her body language said she didn't want to be there. We watched her dump out the first smoothie because something went wrong. Then she plopped at a table nearby and stared off into space until another customer came in. Our huge family came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was not too packed but they had customers chilling in a nice cafe ambiance! People studying, people just catching up with friends with lots of long tables and open seats for people to lounge around or to be productive! The drinks came out so fast I was in disbelief! We had over 12 drinks and they just kept slinging them out like it was nothing!! So superb kudos to the staff! I had the Vietnamese coffeee and it was delicious, but not too strong with the caffeine! LOVE this place!! Finally made our way to Sucre Cafe and it was just as amazing as all their photos on IG! And the drinks are equally as delicious as they look! They have all sorts of drinks from milk teas, smoothies, lemonade, expressos and tea. There's also a variety of Vietnamese street food! We got the unicorn (taro) special drink with mixed jelly. A bit on the sweeter side in my opinion but the bf loved it. We also got the limited time FRESH sugarcane and coconut juice! I simply asked the barista if they had anything new/special that's not on the menu :) Very refreshing and it also came with a slice of fresh coconut. The cafe is very spacious, clean, and trendy. Masks are required. Staff wore masks and there was only one other family there when we went. Social distancing is in place. Excellent customer service. I used to really like this place, and recommend it as a cute cafe for my friends and I to grab a sweet treat or drink to chat when we are in the area! There is a 3.5% additional charge for using a credit card, which is new for Sucre, and I think a slightly excessive charge. The menu has changed a lot. They used to have more dessert options, but they are leaning more towards snack/food and a comprehensive drink menu. The drinks are not bad, but for the price point and quality, it is not worth it. The tables are incredibly sticky. During the time that my friends and I were there, I did not see staff wipe down the tables once, which was a tad concerning. It was not during a busy time, and trash left by other patrons (their meals) were left on the tables from before we arrived and still stayed even after we had left. Came here to try their new cocane drink which is coconut and sugar cane drink with basil seed and it was super refreshing. My bf got the watermelon slush and enjoyed it a lot saying it tasted like fresh watermelon. The second time around we tried the Vietnamese coffee and it was super upsetting. Definitely not the authentic vietnamese coffee taste that you get. Also tried the Milk tea espresso and it was a little better tasting but on the sweeter side and not for me. The blazing ramen bowl was a decent size bowl for the price of only $6.95 (so don't expect a big bowl). The food here was good, especially for the price. I got the chow mein and pot stickers & both were good and filling. They did not put the spice my boyfriend asked for in his ramen, and there was not much broth. It still tasted very good, just not as satisfying as it would've been with broth. The water cups were tiny, which led to us having to interrupt our meal a good bit to refill our waters. It was very clean, and the lounging area was very well done. You get a giant Texas waffle with ice cream with selection of 3 fresh fruit on top. $11 I've also had their drinks here as well. Food -- Bo ne (5/5): One of my favorite viet breakfast dishes, and they made it so well. Came hot, sizzling in the grill, with marinated beef, sunny side up eggs, sausage, and onions. They also provide a baguette w/ pate & mayo, as well as a salad on the side. Beef was so tender and everything on the grill was seasoned well. Bot chien (5/5): Egg with fried rice cake! With a papaya salad on the side which I recommend dipping into the sweet soy sauce and having it with a bite of egg + fried rice cake. The perfect bite! Co-cane nuoc mia (5/5): A different take on your classic fresh sugarcane drink. You can see them put the sugarcane into the machine that extracts the fresh sugarcane juice. They add some tea, and also top it off with some fresh coconut slices. Not too sweet and refreshing! Kimchi fries (4/5): Crispy fries topped with beef, cheese, kimchi, and sauce. Fries were nice and crispy, but the cheese hardened pretty fast and the type of cheese they used wasn't my favorite. Viet pizza (4.5/5): Fried rice paper with egg, fried shrimp, scallions, and sauce! Great savory snack to share. Service -- You order at the cashier and they bring the food out to you. Food came out very quickly and the staff was friendly.
