I am using the app now since I can usually get some kind of 'deal', PLUS the benefit of easy to see menu, which is a real problem with McD's horrible digital menus. So I'm still at 4 stars PLUS my bonus green star for continuing to use paper based packaging, unlike the grand majority of take-out places. Keep up the great work McD's!

While we don't tend to frequent McDonald's much, sometimes on a long distance road trip with kids, it's a necessity. We ordered two Happy Meals with extra fries instead of apple slices. Upon receiving our food, we noticed with had one small bag of fries instead of the usual two. We took it to the cashier who agreed - "Oh ya, there's one missing." The manager was loud and rude and said, "What's wrong?!?" The cashier let her know that we were shorted fries. The manager insisted that what we received was "extra fries" because it was in a "small bag and not two minis". I don't know about her, but the amount of bags doesn't mean anything to me if they are empty. My husband showed her again what we received, and she stood by her initial claim that this was "extra fries". We reluctantly used points to get yet another "large" fry. Once to the car, without eating ANY, I counted the fries in one of the happy meals, and there was exactly 15. So, does this mean that Happy Meals usually come with seven fries?!? I think not. Our large fry was equally pathetic, and filled halfway at best. No use bringing it back, though. It's in a large container, so it must be a large, right? You judge from the pics. Furthermore, the women's toilet seat had blood all over it. What a joke.

Tucked away in Elma, Smitty's has that classic small-town, roadside burger-joint appeal that makes stopping there feel like part of the experience rather than simply grabbing another fast-food meal. The simple drive-in setup, casual atmosphere, and straightforward menu give the place a genuine nostalgic charm. The prices are another big reason to like Smitty's. You can get a satisfying burger-and-fries meal without feeling like you are paying premium modern day inflation price. The same burger fry and shake would be 50%-100% more in cost in Tacoma or Seattle. The portions are generous, and the food delivers the kind of comfort-food experience you want from a local drive-in. The burgers are definitely the highlight. They are flavorful, have that grilled taste, and have that classic burger-joint taste that you just don't get from the big national chains. Whether you go with a basic burger or something more loaded, the quality and flavor make it clear that Smitty's knows what it is doing. The menu also has plenty of classic sides and other options if you want to mix things up. The wait time was perfectly reasonable for a small, popular drive-in. Smitty's prepares food to order, so you may have to wait a little longer than you would at a typical fast-food chain, but that is a tradeoff I am happy to make for hot, fresh food. It never felt like an unreasonable wait, and the friendly staff made the experience even better. The service was good. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which adds to the small-town character of the restaurant. There is something refreshing about getting good food from people who actually seem happy to have you there. Overall, Smitty's is a great example of what a local drive-in should be: old-school atmosphere, reasonable prices, tasty burgers, fresh comfort food, friendly service, and a relaxed small-town feel. It may not be the fastest stop in town, but the combination of quality, value, and nostalgia makes it well worth the visit. If you are passing through Elma, Smitty's is absolutely worth stopping for.

Definitely appreciated that. The fries were thin and crispy just how I like them. Nicely salted and fresh. The milkshake was delicious too -- thick and creamy without being overly heavy. I just assumed it was done to order and got doubly excited for some smoky grilled oysters I was fixin' to have. I got inside and placed my order and waited for them to hit the table. During that time I didn't see any oysters come from the building and go to the grill. When my oysters came to the table, Manuel came from the kitchen where he and a lady had spent most the time while I was there. The oysters looked exactly how the pictures looked and were piping hot. I waved my hand over the oysters towards my nose......no smoke smell. I leaned away, very surprised on why I couldn't smell smokiness. I picked up my fork and bit into an oyster. I tasted no char or smoke of any kind. My oyster had been broiled. So, I had to call Manuel and ask how the oysters were prepare. He told me that the oysters take 18 mins. to prepare and sometimes the wait when there is a lot of people, causes a long wait time. I was the only person in the restaurant, until I got up to pay. He implied that sometimes to avoid a wait, another preparation style is used with the grill in the "back" and this was the technique that was used to make my order. I only observed smoke and wood smell from the front grill that was closest to the front door of the restaurant. Also, he said that oysters are prepared one of three ways....pan fried, fried, or grilled. My oysters weren't prepared any of the three ways he mentioned. All this said to me while it sounded like he was gathering his thoughts and mumbling his words. I must've come on a bad day, Manuel did mention how business had been bad for him.
