On our way to the coast for a camping weekend a few weeks ago we searched for burgers and pulled up…read morethe Pitchwood. We called to see if they were dog friendly, and the gal said, "Yes, for well behaved dogs." Fortunately not a problem. My wife and I and our friends each had to park our RVs a couple blocks away, but no big deal. It was nice to walk in and see the locals belly up to the bar, and all the old decor, and some great beer selections from Fort George among others. Charity poured us some beers and we set up outside under the covered seating area. There's a bar, fire pit and tables out there's. Pretty cool. We ordered different burgers, fries, onion rings, and everything was fantastic. It's not the best I've had but darn good, and perfect for bar food. The best part though was how we ones we felt and how fun and friendly Charity was. Great service takes good to spectacular in my book. Noteworthy, was the amazingly fresh and very cold beer from super clean taps. We went to Fort George the next day and we all agreed the Vortex IPA on tap was better tasting than at the brewery itself. Super impressed! I'm taking my daughter out for a few days today and we're stopping bay the Pitchwood. Great find. Thanks guys!

Everything ended up great, food and drinks came out fast, everything we ordered was correct. Resturant was clean, bathrooms were clean, and the place had a lot of character. I would definetly give Pitchwood Alehouse a try if your in the area!

Had the clam chowder (salmon chowder sold out as well, town just had Labor Day celebration). A regular sitting across had a huge plate of barbecue, all different meats and cuts. Looked great! And- he was so incredibly kind, of his own volition, to share his ribs! Brought 4 over so we both could have some. WOW! Delicious. The kindness was incredible. Talked with the Owner for awhile about how busy the weekend was, how long he's been open. Will definitely stop in when back through town.

I saw the pictures and the reviews. When pulled up I saw and smelled the wood smoking. I didn't see…read moreany oysters smoking or being grilled. I just assumed it was done to order and got doubly excited for some smoky grilled oysters I was fixin' to have. I got inside and placed my order and waited for them to hit the table. During that time I didn't see any oysters come from the building and go to the grill. When my oysters came to the table, Manuel came from the kitchen where he and a lady had spent most the time while I was there. The oysters looked exactly how the pictures looked and were piping hot. I waved my hand over the oysters towards my nose......no smoke smell. I leaned away, very surprised on why I couldn't smell smokiness. I picked up my fork and bit into an oyster. I tasted no char or smoke of any kind. My oyster had been broiled. So, I had to call Manuel and ask how the oysters were prepare. He told me that the oysters take 18 mins. to prepare and sometimes the wait when there is a lot of people, causes a long wait time. I was the only person in the restaurant, until I got up to pay. He implied that sometimes to avoid a wait, another preparation style is used with the grill in the "back" and this was the technique that was used to make my order. I only observed smoke and wood smell from the front grill that was closest to the front door of the restaurant. Also, he said that oysters are prepared one of three ways....pan fried, fried, or grilled. My oysters weren't prepared any of the three ways he mentioned. All this said to me while it sounded like he was gathering his thoughts and mumbling his words. I must've come on a bad day, Manuel did mention how business had been bad for him.
