Traveling back from Long Beach we wandered in to the Hungry Heifer diner mid-morning for breakfast in Raymond Wa. Not familiar with Raymond, but we scored a gem of a restaurant. Apparently this location has been a restaurant spot for eons. Service is stellar. Friendly, knowledgable, and competent. Had corned beef, a very different presentation than ones I have experienced. Huge slabs of meat and potatoes, with english muffin. It was delish. Husband had ham 'n cheese omelette. I almost fainted as he ALWAYS orders biscuits and gravy. Both breakfasts were great. It is a place to view the workings and people in a small town. Families enjoying their meal, couples, elderly and young people. Handicapped assessable. Great Experience. read more

Stopped for breakfast and wavered between eggs with hash browns or corn beef hash with two eggs and hash browns. Deciding to go with the corned beef, I was flabbergasted when it was set before me. My idea of corned beef hash is a mixture of meat and peppers and whatever else comes in the can. However, this review is meant to give you a heads up about the in-house recipe you will be served. It all came on a platter with the hash browns on the bottom, the eggs on top and surrounding all that were at least twenty *chunks* of corned beef. It was more than I could eat and it helped to put some Cholula on it. If you like crispy hash browns, be sure to mention it. If you like your eggs without having to cut them with a knife, say so. All in all, it's a heck of a lot of food, none of which could fit in the can of corned beef hash I'm used to and would have preferred. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to eat at Hungry Heifer because the staff are wonderful and the rest of their menu is not flabbergasting. read more

Service was okay. Food was just average for a diner. Breakfast had too much sausage gravy overwhelming the raste of anything else.

We were heading back home but making a stop in Raymond and needed breakfast. This place caught our eye. Easy to find and parking was not an issue - as it was Sunday. The place was busy but the wait staff was on top of it. Our order was taken and food arrived pretty quickly. Portions were massive & price was great. Give it a shot! read more

Always good food service can be slow however the place is usually packed with diners. Very good breakfast and lunch spot.

We are a family of 7 ranging from 50 something to 4 years old. We are a beast of a family. We order a lot of food to say the least. Staff was funny and super helpful with our requests. Small dining area but had a table able accommodate our brood. Food came out quickly with the exception of my husbands burger which wasn't a problem because the apps were super filling. We just got it to go. The fish, mushrooms and onion rings are all dipped the same deliciously fluffy and crunchy batter. If it's fried there get it!! We love they serve breakfast and lunch at the same time. Super cute the way they stamp the Sammie's with their logo. We will most definitely be back on our next time through town. read more

We went here last night for dinner. Being a small community we don't have a lot of choices but we'll definitely go back to the Hungry Heifer! The staff was very pleasant & the restaurant was very clean. They've thankfully remodeled the restroom*! We had the prime rib dinner medium rare, with baked potato & small bowl of tasty green beans flavored with real bacon & onions. Hubby had tomato basil soup which was delicious! I chose the clam chowder, it was thick with cubes of potato I didn't notice a lot of clam taste but it was good. Be sure you check their hours of operation we don't usually eat dinner much before 6:00 and they currently close by 7pm. *Previously was Sheila's Kountry Kitchen and we only went there once because the restroom was so dirty!! read more

The owner's loud and toxic commentary on politics and snark about other diners ruined what should have been a pleasant lunch experience. The food was good, and our server was pleasant and sincere (thank you to that young latin American woman). Some guidance on etiquette: keep your negativity out of your diners' experience. read more

This place was recommended by a local & did not disappoint. I had the Loco Moco, they added a local twist with country gravy instead of brown gravy. The server (owner?) said her son was a marine stationed in Hawai'i & wanted it added on the menu. It was a generous portion with toast. Very friendly service! Don't order the corned beef hash. It is 1 inch square chunks of corned beef with optional sauted onion and peppers sprinkled around the hunks. Also hash browns are white and under browned. 2nd worse corned beef hash I was ever served. read more

We went for dinner and we're not disappointed! We had the New York Steaks and it was delicious. The veggies were cooked all the way through, a rarity in a lot of restaurants, the baked potato was huge and full of goodies and my fries were out of this world. Just a little something for brunch!! If you've not had a chicken fried steak sandwich? Then you must stop in Raymond, WA, and have their homemade sirloin chicken fried, with bacon, eggs, homemade Frisbee biscuit, gravy, and cheese. They also made those onion rings homemade in the back. Arrived at 12:15 to a very busy restaurant, placed order by 12:30. Got coffee and mimosa almost immediately then started our wait. By 12:45 restaurant was only half full, At 12:55 I asked server if the food was close and she said yes. At 1:05 we gave up and saw my breakfast sitting on the serving shelf and no sign of my wife's breakfast. I told the manager that we had waited a half hour since ordering and had no more time. There was no apology, just sullen silence as she rang up the bill. She directed the cook to stop cooking my wife's meal because the customer had waited a half hour. He responded loudly that someone "could not wait a half hour? It takes longer than that at Dairy Queen". I responded that we would find out. For the record, despite waiting in line for four other cars at Dairy Queen, it took five minutes. Food at Hungry Heifer looked good on other peoples plates. We would have liked to have eaten there. When I told them we were leaving it would have been nice to hear some kind of empathy Could use some service training read more

We were very disappointed first by service and by the food. We started with some clam chowder which had such a strange flavor. We just decided to get a salad. They seemed a little bit disorganized, so maybe we just picked a bad day. read more

Service was great. Food was slow, only one cook for lunch rush. I ordered hash and eggs.... Which was two eggs good, hash browns good, with. Large chunks of corn beef. Which if ya don't know is extremely chewy. As far as I know, corn bee hash should be tiny little cubes of corn beef that are easily chewed. this may be the best little town has offer but unless you've got really strong masseter muscles, skip the corn beef hash. read more

Husband and I were heading home and got hungry, decided to stop and eat at HHD. Got in, got seated by front door, server comes up with menus and silverware. Okay that's as far as the okay service went. She did t ask what we wanted to drink --More than 10 minutes later 2 other parties came in got seated and immediately got water and coffee.After about at least 15 more minutes another server came up asked for our order, I ordered corned beef hash and eggs over easy, iced tea and my husband asked for a glass of water. After 15 more minutes of waiting - I went to use the restroom got back and guess what? Still no effing drinks! I had to go their counter and ask if I can get my water and iced tea. Did I get right away ? Nope! It came several minutes later with my food. Oh wait--- but there is more! Sourdough toast was cold with cold butter and I was served the worst corned beef hash I've ever encountered. I guess I was expecting too much of corned beef hash . Like the potatoes, onions and corned beef were combined and either browned on a flat top or fried a bit in a pan. What I got was cold corned beef that was boiled, cut into chunks, bland. Served over shredded potatoes and over cooked eggs!! I took a couple of bites of the food and went to the counter, paid and left. Fast forward to 10 minutes on the road again and I had to ask my husband to find a rest area. Immy stomach was gurgling and I can feel the food just wanting out!! Chicken fried steak was raw in center. Gravy was just plane flour mix with no flavor. Has downs only coooked on one side, seemed to be steamed potatoes that were pretty mushy. Informed them about the raw steak & they took my whole plate to the microwave. We got up and left... paid full price for food that was mostly left. On and biscuits were awful even with the white goop they called gravy. read more
