Treacher is all gone now in NJ but I still fondly remember the flaky fish and chips from this UK…read morethemed chain. The chips were outstanding and the battered cod was a treat especially when doused in malt vinegar. Unfortunately, fast fish didn't have the staying power of burgers and pizza making the stodgy old English character actor Mr. Treacher a poor substitute for the the kid-friendly appeal of The Hamburgler and Grimmace. No matter, these filets were always good stuff and eagerly anticipated. Five enduring stars.

I visited because of the hype and was left very disappointed. I ordered Original Fish & Chips (with 3 pieces of fish), mozzarella sticks, and Lemon Luv fried pie. I opened my Fish & Chips order just to see it. The order was short 1 piece of fish (only two pieces were in the to go container). When I brought this up to the staff, they very closely inspected it. Then stated that the third fish is under the fries and that I must move my fries around to see it. I didn't want to touch my food with dirty hands. Upon checking later there was no third piece of fish. Every item in the meal was disappointing. Chips (which are fries) were tasteless. Hash browns were too overcooked on the outside and strangely hollow on the inside. Mozzarella sticks tasted really over fried. Fish tasted very oily. The lemon pie looked like it had been through a lot, and didn't resemble lemon. I really wanted to like the food but it was just bad. Food was up fairly quickly. The location is a pick up location only without drive thru or tables. It is just one big open area. The eatery is located across from the high school, next to a recently demolished/burned building, and very close to the traffic lights. It is hard to navigate in and out of this location. It is especially congested during the day. The parking lot is very tiny, and has limited amount of space to move around. It also has a huge pothole right in the middle. If you'll venture out to this location, I recommend parking in the local parking garage and walking to this location. I would also suggest visiting in the evening when it is less busy to ensure a better experience.

I tried one of the Egyptian dishes - kushery ($18) - and it was delicious! If you are vegetarian…read moreand/or have vegetarian friends, I highly recommend this dish. Even as a regular eater of meat, I found this dish so satisfying and filling. In case you don't know, kushery is a whole load of carbs; the dish has rice, macaroni, lentils, a slightly spicy tomato sauce, garlic vinegar, chickpeas, and crispy fried onions. The whole mixture altogether was so tasty, and I would totally get this again. I also ordered the hibiscus punch ($6), which was refreshing and not too sweet. And even though I already had a bunch of carbs with the kushery, I got the Egyptian bread pudding ($8), which was very different from the bread pudding I typically see at restaurants around here. It consisted of toasted croissant pieces that were soaked in a creamy sweet milk; the dessert also came with a bunch of nuts, raisins, and whipped cream. It wasn't as rich or sweet as other kinds of bread pudding I've had, but it was still a tasty dessert. The service was a little slow, so I wouldn't suggest dining in here if you need to get a quick meal. But the food was good, and the staff was friendly, so if you have time for a relaxed meal, give the restaurant a try. Note - there were some slight price discrepancies between the menu and final receipt for my drink and dessert, but I know prices are really volatile in these crazy times, and the price discrepancies were small.

Overall a decent experience, but the food fell short of my expectations…read more We ordered the beef shwarema and Greek gyro. Both came out quickly. Beef shwarema: (2/5) The beef was very dry and flavorless. The menu advertised ribeye beef but the beef did not taste like anything. The sauce that came with this was the only thing that made it taste good. The portions were also smaller than I expected. Also came with fries, which were crispy and salty but not very plentiful. Greek gyro: (3.5/5) The Greek gyro had lamb and vegetables. The lamb was salty and kind of juicy. This was definitely better than the beef shwarema, but the portions were small for a 16 dollar dish. Service: (5/5) our server knew the menu like the back of his hand and told us all about the dishes. Ambiance: (4/5) The interior was quite nice with a few pictures. However, it was pretty noisy for 3:30pm.
