I just went through the most ridiculous experience at this restaurant. For the last month, I have started going into this restaurant and loving the convenience of having it located on my way home. I've entered with an infant in a stroller and my 9 and 10 year old special needs kids who love that I get them a cookie each time they eat their veggies. It's become a thing for them!
However, today as we were having such a great day together, we went to carry out our new normal routine. I ordered 3 footlongs, totaling about $38 and for some reason the only card I had on me was declined. I suspect because I used it so much on the vacation that I had just returned from and I assume it was some security measure from the bank. Nevertheless, the restaurant attendant kept asking me to retry the card, as he grew visible annoyed and even angry. He made me feel so uncomfortable with all of his huffing and puffing and even said in front of my kids "I don't have time for this shit". I explained that this was the only card that I had on me and even went as far as showing him my bank account info on my phone that showed available funds in the account. Since my kids had already sat down and begun eating their sandwiches, I told the atttendant that as soon as they were done eating, I would go 2 doors down to the ATM and withdraw the money that way believing that something was wrong with their card reader at the register.
Being that both of my kids are special needs, very young and were now both very frightened by the hostility of the attendant, I wasn't going to leave them sitting in the restaurant alone with this mentally unstable attendant, especially because there are usual police related incidents at the Game Stop store, right next door involving disruptive thieves and unruly teenagers. The kids were almost done with their sandwiches and I wasn't even comfortable to start eating mine. My kids felt so nervous and scared that they said, "pack up the sandwiches Mommy, I'll eat it at home, just go get him the money". I told him that I was going to get the cash from the ATM 2 doors down and he quickly put on his jacket, complained to the other attendant and followed my kids and I closely to the ATM where he entered and stood inside while I tried to get the cash. My cash did not disperse at the bank, because an error message stating "too many tries" appeared on the screen, although that way my first try at the ATM. When I explained to the attendant that a block has apparently been placed on my card, but that I could go around the corner (inviting him to follow me there too) and get other cards or cash to pay with, he angrily walked back into the restaurant and started pacing back and forth behind the counter, losing his temper and loudly creating a humiliating scene to the other attendant about us. He said that he had to leave, that we had a bill that we needed to pay and that his boss was going to kill him because of this. I told him that I'm totally fine with paying, but I had to go get the funds, at which he asked me for my phone number and as he started to write, I could see his hands trembling with what seemed like anger as he wrote, then his nose started to heavily bleed all over everything. My daughter freaked out at the bleeding and whole situation, asking me if he was going to call the police and get me arrested and my son just kept quietly saying "Mom, I'm scared". He then went to the back room with his bloody nose, not saying anything more to me and left me there with the other attendant. I told that attendant "I hope he's not going to accuse me of punching him in the nose now, since he's already accusing me of not wanting to pay my bill and treating me like a criminal, Is it okay for me to even leave to get the money? I'm afraid that he's going to call the police if I leave." The other attendant who I later learned his name, "Jay" said "sure, go ahead" and was super easy going about it. My kids were afraid that the other angry attendant would chase after us, shouting more at us. I eventually took them home, around the corner and returned with the money for the sandwiches. The angry attendant had already left by then. I then asked Jay, what the heck was that all about? He just shrugged his shoulders in the same disbelief as we were in and sincerely apologized to me for his behavior. I explained to him that the way that I was treated especially in the presence of my kids was unacceptable. I further said that if the owner is that inflexible to realize that their technology may not always work, enough to make an employee meltdown that way and fear being killed...neither of them should have jobs dealing with customers. I informed Jay that I will never return there and that I would be sure to write this review, but I would mention that he was very kind and apologetic for his fellow attendant's behavior. At one point, I thought that he might even hit me, had I said the wrong thing. read more
