Each has a Little Italy and other neighborhoods where you can experience the food, traditions, and culture of different communities. That's probably one of my biggest complaints about Indianapolis, there just isn't anything. Then you find this little Italian market tucked away in a Bloomington strip mall. Being Sicilian and Italian, every time I head down to Lake Monroe to take the boat out, Little Italy Market has become a mandatory stop to fill the cooler. The Turkey and the Many Meats are my go-to sandwiches, and they never disappoint. Everything is fresh, the portions are huge, and these are easily some of the best deli sandwiches I've found anywhere in Indiana. I actually find myself craving them when I'm back home in Indy. If I lived in Bloomington, I'd definitely be a regular for the Italian grocery selection too. But for me, the sandwiches are the star of the show. The family running the place is always incredibly friendly, and they're more than happy to add or change anything on a sandwich to make it exactly how you want it. Little Italy Market is one of those locally owned places you hope sticks around forever. Great food, huge sandwiches, friendly people, and a little taste of the Italian neighborhood culture I miss. I'm literally writing this on a Friday morning waiting for noon to roll around so they can open before I head down to the lake. That probably says everything you need to know. Easy 9.3/10 If you're in Bloomington, this place is absolutely worth a stop.

Diners seemed more affluent and menu prices on higher side. Our kids unfortunately didn't like the grilled cheese probably because it wasn't highly processed or buttered which is a good thing nor the mandarin oranges it came with. Kids were likely overstimulated from our travels. I did try their foods and could see why they didn't take to it at first. Didn't taste bad by any means. Husband liked his sandwich the Lennie Original that has roast beef, bacon, lettuce, mayo, marinated red onions, tomato, and mozzarella on house bread. I opted for the soup of the day, the Hungarian Mushroom soup, never having something like that before. It was a smidge heavy on the salt for me but again I'm sensitive to salt having cutting it down in my diet. It was a very flavorful soup with dill and other seasonings. The salad didn't really do much for me except help me feel like I was getting fiber into my diet. Overall the vibe and service would bring me back to try more. Their drink menu certainly looked interesting featuring local Bloomington Brewing Company drinks.

They were a bit busy but it didn't seem like a huge crowd today. We sat outside again. I knew what I wanted immediately, and placed our order as soon as our waitress came over to greet us. A cheeseburger for the kid, and a pulled pork sandwich for me. I've never had theirs before. And I never will again. And fries. We got fries. The wait was insane. At least a half hour for very simple dishes. The kid got a tiny burger. Beef and bun. No cheese, no ketchup. I had to ask for cheese. Yes. They messed up a cheese burger. Then there was my pulled pork. It was literally inedible. I've since come to learn that it was not reheated properly, so the goo that covered every bit of meat was fat. It was served cold, for some reason, and the way it was presented on the menu, listed under a picture of some yummy browned wings led me to believe it would be a very different - and HOT- sandwich. The server did offer to take it back, but at that point the meal was ruined for me and I didn't trust them to make anything else, or make it quickly. I made it clear I was very unhappy about such a disgusting sandwich. She took all of 10% off my bill. Better than nothing, but a lot less than I was expecting. if this is how they're doing things now, I'm done with this place. Badly overseasoned fries... cold pulled pork... cheeseburger with no cheese... I mean, come on... and based on what little I caught from people at another table, getting food out seemed to be an issue for them. I'm not sure if any other places nearby that aren't just bars serve decent food, but if they do, you can definitely give this place a hard pass. Yuck.

It was an interesting addition to the sandwich because it made the sandwich a little more sour. I added a little hot honey to help counter some of the sourness. The Hive bun was very fresh. It had great texture- crunchy edges but spongy middle. The burgers looked good but appeared very small. I was a little surprised by the portion size considering the cost. It was very expensive for such a small burger that did not come with sides & drink. I liked the big plastic cups for water. It had a bunch of advertisements on the cup, but thought it was great sizewise for water. Usually we get a small plastic flimsy cup for water at other restaurants, so it was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and served our order relatively quickly. Patrons came in waves. The outside is deceiving because the sign isn't flashy and looks relatively small. But, once you walk in, it appears a lot more spacious than from the outside. Plenty of seating for big/small groups.
