When you ask to speak to the manager of the office, they are always on the phone, and never get a call back. Scalpers! $6.81/gallon 1/25/2024. Average CPG in Vt., $2.87. I have auto delivery since 2020, paid tank rental and consume 400 gal/yr. The reason given for the outrageous rate was that I do not use enough gas. As they installed (2) 250 gallon tanks they should be able to schedule less than the five or six deliveries a year, if that is their concern. read more

They show up twice a year to fill up leaving you with an exorbitant bill, knowing full well the cost of fuel these days. This caused us to have to pay off our winter bill in increments. When we got down to our last ~$100 owed, our bill was sent to collections. Not a third party collections group, but a SubPro corporate collections group. We paid it off immediately. A few months passed and it dawns on us that no one's been by to fill up. Come to find out that since our bill got sent to collections, our account was cancelled. We were never notified of this. Had I not logged onto the customer portal (which for some weird reason had access to despite having a cancelled account) and noticing we didn't have access to the dashboard, resulting in me calling to find out why, we may have emptied our tank. Needless to say, we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

6.81 a gallon for propane, more than twice the state average and they don't even have a technician. The bum they sent out to look at my furnace last year, "Shane" stood me up 3 times before I decided to find someone competent. I am going to switch providers this spring. If your family is in a emergency situation I wouldn't recommend this company out of saint albans VT. I made my first original call for a delivery a month ago and they have canceled on my 5 different times knowing I have 3 children and no propane to cook for my family and to be able to heat my house with winter approaching. After letting me run out of propane, they charged $89 to come out here again. They also charged 39.95 to have the guy come in and light pilots. He had nothing to light them with! This is the most bogus, poorly run company (beside consolidated) that I have encountered. I will be making plans to leave them. In my experience and opinion, we have a front runner for worst company in VT. Yes, worst than Comcast! I should have listened to every person ever when they said do not deal with this company and that I'd regret the day I contacted them. Everybody was right. It took 4 calls over 3 days to this location just to get new account paperwork to get the process started. The customer service people simply hang up if your question requires thought or is difficult. I complete and return paperwork within 3 days and 4 weeks go by, no contact. I call in, get hung up on 2 times. Finally talk to someone and they send out a tech to do an estimate to set a new tank and run a line into the home. The "tech" comes 45 mins late, no ID, no company shirt, no paperwork, no introduction, nothing. He stares at the site silently for 3 minutes and says "a few hundred dollars" and walks to his truck and leaves. Wow, thanks... I didn't get any follow up from him or Suburban, no quote, no estimate, no paperwork, no scheduling, literally nothing. I call in and get hung up on once. The next person I talk to says they have no record of a tech coming out............... Uh, what!? 4 months go by, still noting. I call in again, get hung up on 2 times. On the third call, they tell me I need to submit all new paperwork, have a new site inspection and that there is no record of me ever submitting any paperwork to them or a tech coming to my house. I have email proof of the submission, an employee name, dates, etc. and they won't look at them and say that I am making it all up. I was put on hold for 13 minutes at which point I gave up. Nearly 1 year after I started the process, I am no closer to having service. I cannot imagine how bad it might be to be a locked-in customer and have to deal with this lack of service. Luckily, I can, and will go elsewhere. Please do yourself a favor and avoid these guys at any expense. Check around for reviews of this company and you will see. I cannot think of a more frustrating, time wasting, fruitless experience that I have ever had. read more

I suppose I should be thankful that the field service team for SubPro is nowhere as dysfunctional as the business office/customer service center in StA. On the day of my scheduled service, the tech called early in the morning to inquire if he could come earlier than my appointed afternoon window, arrived well within his ETA and carried on a pleasant conversation while doing a thorough cleaning and testing on my heater: as a result, feel confident going into the coming winter with it. ON THE CONTRARY....my call to inquire on the misbilling of $20 between what I was quoted and what appeared on the statement was met with stonewalling, lack of empathy and a virtual hangup on me courtesy Kendra. I purposely called on the weekend following the day she assured me I would get a callback to find that the credit I asked for was on the account: I had received no callback as I requested and when I did get a voicemail from Lindsey (sp) the following Monday , she referenced credit for a late charge on my account, a different issue altogether and one the otherwise congenial agent at the call center never mentioned. Aside from the service experience (at least in the short term), my overall experience bespeaks the general attitude of a company with a monopoly or one that simply can't bring itself to care much about its customers. read more

If I could give them a zero I would, poorest customer service I have ever seen, Our fireplace was broken , Hubby turned off the pilot light, turned off gas input from the tank at which time read 70 %, called them for service also, never got a call, yet we get a bill saying they filled our tank and we owed $298, called to talk to them and tell them the fireplace was broken and off for the whole month of February, they even admit that they had brought propane right before our fireplace went south and we had never used that much before, long story short even with all that they said their trucks are tamper proof, if driver said he delivered that much to us, he did! Needless to say we are back with Liberty Propane and very happy to be back. A company that lies is not getting my business! read more

Horrible company. They charge almost double for propane what other companies do. Customer service people are rude, and their technicians don't know what they're doing. We had a gas stove installed by them, and it was a nightmare, with the SP folks insisting a salesperson from the stove company be present during the install, and said it was regulation, which it was not. They then just left and didn't install it until another day. That move wasted a day off work for us, and more to follow. Avoid them at all costs, you'll be glad you did. read more

It's a pretty terrible company as far as companies go. They can deliver bills promptly without disruption. Delivering service or gas, however, is a challenge for Suburban Propane in Vermont. They can often get gas inside the tank, but, if you are the kind of propane customer who would like the propane to travel from the tank and into the house then Suburban Propane is NOT for you. Admittedly, sometimes i do like calling up friends and loved ones and telling them about the gas inside my tank, but on other occasions i like to burn in using my Kenmore oven to make food or candles. The short version is that every winter my regulator freezes, I call Suburban to replace it, they cant make it to the house for 2 weeks or so, or miss appointments, they replace it with something else that doesnt work, and every time its below 30 degrees I cant cook using my aforementioned Kenmore range. The Regulator has moisture in it. I'm sure the service techs in the field are fine at their job, however, the customer service is deplorable, and they take weeks for service to arrive. I award them ZERO stars. read more
