If I could give Blue Flame a negative star rating I would. It took six months of constant back and forth to get my account set up with conflicting answers, terrible customer service, inconsistent follow through and staff that were constantly telling me that they didn't know any answers. No one could tell me how much propane cost, what the service period was on a bill I had received, whether my account was set to auto-refill, if I needed a contract or not, if I needed to prebuy my fuel or not, etc. That was last heating season. It's only September and the customer service run around headache has already begun with bills for propane use in August, service fees for service I declined and unreturned phone calls from supervisors. I would absolutely NOT recommend Blue Flame Gas. read more

Worst ever. I never chose Blue Flame, I ended up with them by default. I have a 500 gallon buried tank. Original supplier was Green Mountain Propane which was acquired by Vermont Propane and then eventually Blue Flame which is now Amerigas. Since being with Blue Flame we have had an undetected leak requiring a new tank after who knows how many gallons were lost, we have run out of gas in spite of being on auto delivery and then the pricing. For several years I allowed myself to be gouged before discovering Fuel User groups which easily knock over a dollar per gallon of the fluctuating prices I had been paying. Go ahead and try to call them sometime. Good luck getting anyone. Try the website, it offers an email contact. No one ever gets back to you. The only reason I still use them - with the pricing from the user group I'm in this is the best price I can get. Service is terrible. Just hope you never need to talk to them about anything. read more

I don't recall having any issues with delivery. But we recently got some great service. My mother's propane heat went out. We called Blue Flame on Thanksgiving weekend and they had two service people there in an hour. One was in a delivery truck, the other in a service vehicle. They quickly established the supply side was fine all the way to the boiler and therefore not a Blue Flame Gas issue. But they said they would not leave until they found her an HVAC contractor to solve the problem (her previous HVAC contractor has apparently left the business). The technician (Dan) called around - even discussing the situation by phone with experts at Deer Camp - until he found a solution. Knowing the HVAC supply houses were closed he even went out to get a part from a buddy in the business. This was exceptional service and has earned considerable loyalty from us. read more

Terrible customer service now that they sold to Amerigas. I have called at least six times to dispute a bill and only once someone picked up after being on hold for a half hour. They charge a $60 tank fee if you do not meet the minimum usage. The fee is more than what it would have cost me if I had used a few more gallons. I finally reached someone who said they would ask their supervisor but never heard back. So now I keep calling and am put on hold. read more

If I had a choice to have another company I would switch in a heartbeat. I live in a complex and blue flame is who services our building. I have had the Worst billing issues with them. All I want to do is get my bill and pay them but that is apparently too difficult for them to handle. It took them several months to switch their billing from my landlord to me even after several phone calls from both of us. And now that I am getting my bills, the due dates are the same day they send the bill out to me. News flash it takes a couple days to go from their building to my house. Then they reject my online bill pay through my bank and BILL ME AGAIN! Seriously think again before setting up service with them. read more

I using I could give zero stars. We did not get a bill for 6 months (most of which was summer, so we didn't really notice) and then when we called them asking for a bill it turned out they hadn't even read the meter since we moved in. After about a month (and repeated calls, none of which were ever returned) they finally sent a bill. Our heater had been turned off and unplugged for 5 months (heat is the only thing that uses propane) and the bill was obscene. The bill also made almost zero sense, the company doesn't understand gallons vs cubic feet, and they can't explain anything on the bill because they pay a company in another state to send bills (and don't get copies for their office, apparently). Their customer service reps are rude, no one can return a call, and they consistently have a sour attitude. To top it all off, this week we found a propane leak on the outlet side of our meter, which is potentially running up our bill even though we're not using the propane, and it's dangerous! We called for an emergency service, and the this morning they told me that the leak didn't effect our meter because it was at the tank... Except we have a recorded video, showing our meter and how there's pretty substantial bubbling when the line was sprayed with windex. Don't try and tell me it's just at the tank. How are these people still in business??? read more

Please don't use this company. It gets cold here in Vermont and I don't want to hear about people freezing in their own house. Using this company to keep you warm is a waste of your money, time, and patience. They always go out of their way to be rude, disrespectful, condescending, and confrontational. Jumping in the lake in February will keep you warmer than Blue Flame Gas will. read more

Couldn't agree more with my fellow negative-star rater. I can't recall a worse customer service experience from anyone. And I have pretty low standards. Weeks waiting just to give them my information to start a new account at an address where they already have a tank. As the propane gauge hovers perilously close to zero and the temperature drops, I've been waiting for a call for three weeks just to give someone my Social Security number to initiate a delivery, which may take forever, too. Despite being told that they'd get someone out on a prepay basis until the new account was established if I was running extremely low, I'm now told-by the same person-they won't even let you get on the schedule by taking an advance credit card payment. When I made my fourth follow-up call today and explained that I wanted the name of the office manager or company owner so I could write what I'm sure would be a completely worthless letter of complaint given their contemptuous attitude toward customers, I got left on hold so long I eventually had to hang up. I can't tell you how incredibly horrible this company is to deal with. read more

I wound up with blue flame because they are the service provider for my apartment building. I didn't choose them, and if I had the choice I would switch to anyone else. I've had nothing but problems with them. The first day I moved in, I didn't have heat because no one had unlocked the meter. This was in the middle of November and it was cold. I received my first bill in the beginning of December and was charged $400 for 174 gallons of gas. Even if I had left all the windows open, I doubt that I could have used that much gas in the two weeks I have lived in that apartment. I called Blue Flame immediately for an explanation and was told I would have to speak to a manager who could explain why my bill was so outrageous. I called two more times that week and was told the same thing. The manager never called. Finally I called and spoke to someone who was willing to put me on hold with the manager. I waited for 20 minutes before speaking with her, but she promised to look into the problem and get back to me in 48 hours at the latest. 48 hours passed with no call from the manager. However, I did receive another bill reminding me that I had not paid the first one. I called Blue Flame again and was told by the customer service rep that they would email the manager. I received my first bill on 12/04. It is now 12/19 and I still have no idea what is going on, despite five phone calls. Don't deal with this company unless you absolutely have to! read more

THE WORST customer service ever. We have a non-functioning gauge discovered IN FEBRUARY and they said they had to change out the tank, which they would do in the summer. After many many phone messages unreturned and an email to the manager, still no response until my husband walked into the office. They finally scheduled the new tank change for November 25. They called that morning to say they were too busy and will have to reschedule. NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY. I am so mad I could spit right now. read more

A few weeks ago, while my husband was away for military training, our furnace quit. I was alone with our 8 month old baby, and not having any heat or hot water was a bit unsettling. To make a long story short, I called Blue Flame Gas and the problem was fixed that afternoon. I found the Blue Flame Gas employees professional, courteous, and responsive. My husband and I are also very pleased with the fair and reasonable fees we were charged for the services. This was a positive experience and a great example of how to retain customers! read more

I live in a single family year round rental in Jamaica, Vermont and per my lease my lease I am required to use Blue Flame and I cringe every time I think about having to buy propane from them. From the 1st time I spoke to one of their Southern Vermont service reps, I could sense there was going to be an issue. Three of the reps who I have spoken with since May 2015 lack manners, common courtesy and professionalism and all three are incredibly confrontational. When I 1st signed up for service I was informed by Blue Flame that I had to pay them a $150 safety check fee even though the house had been inspected 4 months earlier. I informed the reps that I wasn't paying them a penny to have them conduct a safety check and I told them to contact my landlord if they wanted to be paid. I was then told it was a state law and I responded that I didn't care if it was a federal law, I wasn't paying to have a house checked for safety as if they're supplying gas this is their responsibility to check the tank as its their tank!! I also informed them that I was contacting the DPU, Vermont Consumer Affairs Department and the Better Business Bureau to report their shady and fraudulent business tactics. The reps response to me was, "go right ahead, it's not going to change the way we choose to operate our business. At this point I disconnected the call. I have to call Blue Flame for gas tomorrow and just the thought of this increases my blood pressure to stroke level. Stay away from this company as they're a ripoff and will screw you any which way they can. read more

THERE IS NO CHOICE FOR ZERO STARS! I have nothing but nightmares in dealing with this company. First off their office staff....MOST UNPROFESSIONAL EVER.. I spent one afternoon continually dialing the company, placed on hold then hung up on numerous times. When someone finally picked up they acted astonished that I reported the hang-ups. I KNOW WHAT A HANG-UP IS! Then there's their scheduler. What an idiot that guy is. He screwed up our scheduling for over 4 months. I started the calls and scheduling in August. Yet Mr. Rhino claimed I needed to send him an email so he could get me on the schedule. I sent 4 emails, from August thru September, yet during this time he never once responded to any emails! Finally I get this email back from him stating that he turned my account (for which I didn't have one YET!!!) over to another guy in the office. That guy, TOM, never contacted me. In early November both my landlord and I attempt to contact these people again. Since the property was in her name, she was told she needed to set up the account, then I could call later and they would change it. I had never heard of such a thing. But we followed their direction. they tell my landlord they have us scheduled on nov 18th from 10am-11am to perform the new tank setup and test. Nov 18th rolls around. 11am comes and goes and yet no appearance by Blue Flame. My landlord calls them, to which Rhino claims we weren't on the schedule and he would have to schedule us for a later date. My landlord got pissed and began to yell. And presto, wouldn't you know....within an hour here comes a blue flame truck. The service technician was the ONLY professional person we had dealt with so far. he sets up the tank, loads it with 10 gallons of fuel and tests the lines. everything works fine. But now I have to CALL BACK and schedule ANOTHER delivery! I began to worry....so I called the next day on Nov 19th. Tom took my credit card info over the phone, and charged me for 100 gallons of fuel...but told me he didn't know when they could get out there to deliver. I got pissed! Raised my voice....to which the NEXT DAY, when I got home, on my door was receipt for 90.5 gallons supposedly delivered. But there was no one there to verify that....and where the tank is located, I am too short to read the gauge on top! So I can't see if there is fuel in the tank or not. But for 2-3 weeks, I use the little franklin fireplace in the living room (which is the only appliance powered by propane in the house). I don't use the fireplace daily....just a few time (handful) over the next 3 weeks. On Dec 21st I fly back home to Houston, to spend the Christmas holidays. Before I leave my house, I make sure the thermostat is turned down to below 50 degrees so the fireplace wont be in use while I'm not there. When I returned home on the 30th, the house was cold, and the fireplace pilot light was out....THERE WAS NO PROPANE coming out of the fireplace. A friend came over to check the gauge and said the tank was empty. Now, wouldn't you think that if they put 90 gallons, on top of 10 gallons, making it a total of 100 gallon, in a 125 gallon tank, that I'd have SOME fuel left after on minimal use in 3 weeks, and no use for 10 full days?!?!?!?!?!? So I call them....took me almost 8 full hours to get someone to return my calls. But as usual, I was hung up, talked nasty to, and treated like I was the problem. So they send out a technician on Dec 31st. With him he brings a receipt where they show only delivering 10 gallons. And NOT the additional 90 gallons I ordered and paid for back on Nov 19th!!!!! Yet I have been accused of using up the additional 90 gallons in less than 3 weeks time.. I was told I ran too many appliances and maybe my water heater....I had to once again explain that I only had ONE APPLIANCE IN THE HOUSE THAT RAN ON PROPANE....THE FRANKLIN FIREPLACE IN THE LIVING ROOM!!!! Plus I'm a single person, and am gone from the home 10 - 12 hours a day for which it does not run...and when I am there, I rarely run the propane, as I have electric kerosene heaters. But when the electricity goes out (which it often does) then the only heat source I have is that fireplace!!!! I am now fighting with Blue Flame to ACTUALLY deliver the fuel I paid for!!! And their are rep, in New Hampshire, tells me "I'm going to have to inquire to the driver to see if he remembers delivering the fuel, and if he does, then there's nothing we can do, but deliver more fuel and charge you for it". ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?! Though I hold receipts for paying for fuel...one type written receipts for 10 gallons, and a makeshift handwritten receipt for the 90 gallons....to which the rep tells me that if the gallons were pumped, the receipt would have been "keyed" in...(aka type written). bottom line, I GOT SCREWED!!! My next step is to seek legal action! BE WEARY OF THIS COMPANY - THEY DO NOT CARE! read more
