No transparency in pricing. Pricing is overly expensive and varies between delivery with no explanation as to why or quite provided beforehand. Deliveries are scheduled out almost 2 weeks. The drivers are great but the management and business model is definitely not customer focused. read more

Nothing but problems with this company and trying to get our tank serviced. We asked to buy a tank from them to replace the one we have that we rent and it took weeks to get an answer on when we could get one. We got an answer when i called and they admitted to dropping the ball. For two weeks we had to reschedule the service because they kept forgetting to pull the permits. Both times, no one showed up and we had to call. This was after we started digging a trench in the middle of my driveway for the new tank. When we had the trench done, no one showed up the day they were supposed to and when we called them to find out why. This was the third time. They let us know the guy was sick and they sent out someone to take a look at the trench. We got the line and it passed inspection and we were supposed to get the tank moved and the new one put in yesterday but YET AGAIN no one showed up when we were told they would. We called AGAIN TODAY and were told it would be next week now. we ended up cancelling all together. I will not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Terrible company. My grandparents received an oil delivery for over $6/gallon. Called Suburban asking for a new customer quote and the price was half of what they charged my grandparents. Then asked what existing customers were charged and the quote was $3-4/gallon. When asked why we were charged over $6/gallon we were told it was because they don't require that much oil each year. Disgusting company that takes advantage of the elderly and their customers. Will make sure none of my family or friends use them in the future. Another local company quoted us less than $3/gallon for new or existing customers. Will be using them moving forward. read more

Price gouging at it's finest! After several years of the prices continuously going up, we decided to switch to a more affordable and friendly propane dealer. Our deciding factor was the national average cost of propane/gallon was $2.53. Suburban was going to charge $4.56/gallon. When I called to ask why the amount was just about doubled, and I was told there is no regulations on what they can charge. I understand needing to make a profit, but this is how people heat their homes! It's a shame this goes on! They also took FOREVER to come pick up their old tank. Always giving excuses as to why it has not been done. I'm sending them a bill for storage of their tank on our property. read more

just charged 660.00 for 95 gallons of propane. this should have cost 300 as the price in Maine is 3.30 a gallon roughly. this is absurd and a huge SCAM. The workers are rude disrespectful and refuse to help. read more

This is the absolute worse company I have ever dealt with. After charging almost $900 to refill tanks that were only half empty they said if we had used more propane it would have been cheaper. It was like 5 bucks a gallon. They said supply for propane was low. After speaking with Vanderyacht they literally laughed and told us that wasn't true and there prices were closer to $2 a gallon. I cancelled suburban and had to wait for over a month for them to pick up the tanks. Vanderyacht brought new tanks and transferred the propane for FREE. I called suburban 4 times and they kept saying they would get around to picking them up. I specifically asked them to call me before picking them up because my boyfriend works nights and I have dogs that might he in the yard. After having to speak with the manager they finally came out. But they did not call me in advance. These people are frauds. They charge ridiculous prices. I even spoke to a Vanderyacht employee who told me he used to work for suburban and hated it. He said he felt terrible handing people bills for propane that were over $1000 knowing that they couldn't afford it. Go to Vanderyacht. read more

You guys are sooooo fired! Residential propane delivery. Pretty straight forward. Someone orders propane delivery service. You know where they live. You know were to find them. You come by every two weeks and fill their tank (which you charge them for and + delivery fees BTW!). Is there a problem? Call your customer. You have the phone number for your customer....And you know where they live. Suburban is way-way high priced compared to your competition. My house is ice cold 3 days in a row because of an empty tank. This is the third time in the 4 years that I have lived here. Your services are no longer required.... So so so angry! Believe these reviews dont do business with this place. $1.75 to start $65 per month budget plan. Then I started getting invoices that I had a balance due. I Call them they tell me all is well my budget plan is fine. Months go by I get a letter, pay $500+ overdue NOW or we are canceling your service. It was autopay from day 1. The crooks jacked up my propane rate so high it doubled my monthly payment then never communicated the change AND no one in the office could figure it out before it got to this point! DONE...paid them off along with their f#$!&%g cancellation and tank pick up fee. $200! Only reason this company is worth 1 star is their service tech is a nice guy. Doing the best he can with this shit company. Go with Vanderyacht instead, family owned customer service matters to them! read more

ZERO STARS Made a yelp account just to leave this review. I agree with others - avoid. It is not necessary to sign a contract to get propane, especially a 3 year contract. I just paid $250 to terminate my Suburban contract and I'm still money ahead for this winter. I've had great luck with a family owned and operated distributor in Marysville but I can't imagine there's a worse or more expensive contract so any other distributor will probably be better. Suburban charges $300 to install, this other company did it for free AND waived the tank rental fee. Suburban charged me $250 to quit, the other company has no penalty. All the people I dealt with at Suburban are really nice, but the company is really overpriced and I really regret my decision to do business with them. read more

Our experience with this company has been horrible. They give a competitive quote (slightly less than other companies) that is valid for one year to have customers sign up, and double the price right away after one year is over. The price per gallon when I signed up was $1.89, and next year it was $3.69! They argue this is due to services they provide, having service 24/7 etc. however other companies with similar services charge half the price per gallon (I'm paying $1.7 per gallon after switching to another company). I've had to pay another $245 just to cancel my service, as they have closeout fees; even though it took them 6 weeks + to come out and pick their tanks up. They don't have an accurate tracking system to come out and fill the tanks when they are below a certain level. We switched to auto-delivery, and we've run out of propane numerous times. until after we told them to fill them every 3 weeks instead of relying on their estimates. read more

I am currently a year and a half into a 3 year contract with Suburban Propane. Had them put in a 300 gallon tank with automatic fill ups. Every time they came to top off the tank the price went about a $1.00 per gallon. This last fill up was $5.32 per gallon. Go rates in this area should be around $2.50. Not sure what I am going to do but stopped the autofill and will probably pay the $1,000.00 fill up and then wait out the contract or not. I could pay a $250.00 early contract termination fee after the fuel is gone and move to a new company. Best deals appear to be with owning your own tank and shopping propane price when you need it. Fill up in the summer when price is down. read more

This company raised my cost to three times after I used them wirh out advising me of the increae and ripped me off of appro. $300. When I called to complain they put me on a speaker phone and I could here the office personnel laghing in the back ground. When, after multiple "difficult" contacts with manager, Larry Peterson, I could not get them to TIMELY move my tank for deck construction, I went with VanderYacht instead. Now I have my new tank from VanderYacht in the correct place for the construction, and am waiting for Suburban to pick up their (now empty) tank (which VanderYacht graciously moved away from the construction area). What a scam. They hook you in with reasonable prices then raise them every few months. I was paying $4.69 per gallon before I started looking around and found propane for $2.29 elsewhere. Talked with a guy who used to work there and he said that was their business model. Believe the reviews. read more

Suburban propane in lake Stevens has been very easy to work with. They checked my system for free prior to selling me propane without a contract-I own my own tank. They also allowed my to have an account so I don't have to pay upfront. I recommend them. read more
