The short version: TERRIBLE. Run away as fast as you can! The Details: I have been a customer of Suburban Landscaping now for more than four years. Their basic lawn-mowing, and edging was average. Acceptable. I later added a few new services, such as taking care of hedges, and bushes, etc. They were weak, to awful, in those areas. Then, last year -- one of their mowers did severe damage my next door neighbor's steel and iron fence. He bashed it with his high-powered mower, and bent and twisted it, near the bottom, doing permanent damage, for about 14 feet. HE called. He never received a response. I called. I never received a response. He called two more times. No response. I called twice more. I am a freaking customer! I left messages. No response. - Part Two -- Last December, I received my annual contract. I chose to downgrade their services to only lawn-mowing. While I researched a new provider. On the contract, I gave permission to Suburban Landscaping to take a monthly billing from a credit card, automatically. They did not. Instead they sent me an E-Mail bill. Not a physical bill. An Email bill. I called them. That was ten days ago. I got a recording, left a message, requesting an immediate callback on this billing issue. (I had signed an agreement that I should not receive any bill, much less one that might get lost in E-Mail.) I then left a second identical message. I requested an immediate call, "ASAP." No response. Today, I finally received a callback, and was left a message by their business department. I called back, one hour later, at 3:10 pm, and was told she was "gone for the day, at 3:10 p.m., ON A Thursday. I was then told that she would not be back again until Monday. I do not know who I was speaking to, but he was rude. As if "I" was the problem. He said they had changed their billing procedures (with no warning, despite my December contract) so that they could begin using "QUICKBOOKS." I am now shopping for a new landscaping company. Horrendous HOA experience- don't use them or ever recommend them unless you're asking for incompetence

I used Suburban Landscaping to rebuild a retaining wall that held up my garage. I called many, many landscapers to quote the work, most of which didn't bother to call or show up. And, of the few that showed up, none knew how to do the work (drainage & electric were inside the wall). The Suburban estimator was great, he was on time and professional. He knew what to do, and he was the only one that measured anything, he even had some laser measuring devise. The crew came out the day we scheduled, which never happens for me! (Try getting a concrete guy to show up on time!) They did a great job on the wall and everything works great, including the electric and drainage (which they re-did for no extra charge). They did a really great job this past summer on my patio and fire pit. I did have to call often to see when the job would take place. I didn't get too much follow through with keeping me updated on their time status of when they cold do the job. But overall I am happy with their work. I would like to have some additional landscaping done to my front yard for curb appeal, but it's been difficult with getting someone to respond to get a quote. read more

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!! Called for an estimate and the guy seemed uninterested upon arrival . He also quoted me way too much for what I needed done. I have 3 other quotes, all at least $1200 less. Finally I asked to see samples or pictures of the stone pavers he quoted me. He has the nerve to pull a garden stump from his truck and try to pass it off as a brick paver. Don't use this company! Terrible service. My time has become limited with 2 toddlers at home, so I decided to finally hire a company to treat and mow my lawn. This is the worst my yard has looked in 5 years that we have lived in our current home. I began seeing dead patches in my lawn at the end of June this year. I called the company and explained my concern. After a couple of weeks, I called back and was told that the message was given to the manager. I have called 3 times since then and have not heard anything back. The woman answering the phone said that the manager recommended fungicide for "silver dollar" disease, but that was for last year! Well, over the course of the weeks waiting for a reply I discovered that it was grubs and not a fungus killing my yard. So, not only do I have about 25-30% of my lawn that is dead, the grubs grew into Japanese Beatles and those ate the leaves off of two of my decorative parkway trees. I still have not heard back from anyone. Additionally, I have called and complained twice because the mowers missed 2 separate 200 sq foot patches of yard when they mowed. If all that wasn't enough, they also damaged our outdoor playlet on at least 2 separate occasions knocking the slide loose, and hitting the climbing wall hard enough to knock a bolt out and making it crooked. I would never recommend using this company. I am currently searching for a new service. read more

Suburban Landscaping broke my patio light outside my condominium and has been giving me the run around every since. I just want the light replaced since they are responsible for breaking it. I called several times and to no avail, a solution still hasn't came. You would think a professional company would at least try to please the customer, but no they blocked my number. A patio light might seem simple to some, but if you break something, I feel it's your responsibility to fix it. Suburban Landscaping is a terrible company to do business with, and if you do happen to hire them, protect your belongings, because if they break it, it's your loss. read more

I called Suburban Landscaping to get a quote for a drainage issue in my yard. At first when I called, Nanette needed to speak with her boss to see if they would even come as far as Burbank, IL to do work (note: there is maintenance service available in Bridgeview which is next town over). I tried to get a evening appointment because I worked until 6 pm. That was too late for the landscaper. Weekends were not an option for the landscaper either. So I arranged to have my boyfriend be available at an earlier time & the quote appt. was made. About a week later, Nanette calls to say the landscaper had been in an accident & was out of commission until his doctor released him. Understandable, so we re-scheduled for about 2 weeks later & if anything were to change she would call. She did call & stated the landscaper had not yet returned to work that we needed to re-schedule again. Ok, re-scheduled a month in advance this time. She assured me not to worry about the weather(this was October & it was getting colder outside) that the landscaper could give the quote regardless. The month goes by & on the morning of the appointment Nanette calls yet again to tell me they would not be able to come out & I could re-schedule an appt. in the Spring! No thank you! I will take my business elsewhere! read more
