Chapel Hill Wetland Association contracted with AM Tree Service Inc. to perform southern perimeter tree/shrub trimming, dead tree removal and dead fall debris removal. A certificate of insurance was provided. A six man crew was on site on July 27 2023 from 8am to 2pm. Considering heat breaks and lunch they worked for about 4-1/2 hours in 90-degree heat and sun to perform these tasks over about a quarter mile stretch of wetland property. They accomplished all of the contracted tasks. Some additional dead trees/shrubs were discovered after first pass removal and were also removed. Some additional tasks were requested by me and performed as well. The crew required access to the wetlands via several drives that are HOA property of two adjacent HOA's. They were extremely careful of the HOA property, taking care to not do damage and meticulously cleaning up any cutting/chipping debris. They did an excellent job of sweeping, shoveling and blowing debris off of the drives, walks and grass in all locations. Anthony, the co-owner who quoted the job, stopped by and did final walk through of the site with the crew foreman. With that final instruction and a walk through with me prior to the start of work the crew was fully capable of performing this job with minimal additional input. In the interest of ensuring that all HOA and wetland property remained undamaged, all debris removal was done manually. I watched the entire process from 8am to 2pm. The workers were courteous and thorough, very well equipped, obviously knowledgeable about tree service methodology and very responsive to requests for specific tree and shrub removal. Had several companies out to give estimates. AM wasn't the lowest one, it was in the middle but Matt, the owner gave me the best impression. He had also done some work for my next door neighbor and from what I could tell, they had done a very good job. He said that he was 2 to 3 weeks out at the moment but had some other work in the area coming up and would try to squeeze me in earlier. Exactly one week later, he called in the morning and said that he could do it today, I told him to come on out. The tree was rotting where it met the earth and I didn't know how long it would be before a gust of wind had it coming down onto my house or worse. A few hours later, the crew showed up and got to work. A couple hours after that I couldn't believe the mess in my yard, driveway, the street. They were all covered in tiny twigs, branches and sawdust. But a little while later it was all cleaned up, I mean all of it. They even used blowers to blow off my car which had been covered in sawdust by the chipper. The only evidence that they were there was that the tree was gone and in its place was a pile of wood chips. Matt had explained to me while giving the estimate a week earlier that this would be the case as taking it away would increase the estimate by quite a bit and that all companies charge extra for it. When the stump was ground, the crew shoveled the wood chips back into the hole to minimize the mess. The last time it was done by another company, they were just left where they landed and it killed a section of grass 3 times the area of the tree stump. We found Anthony and his crew while they were trimming my neighbor's trees and we were VERY impressed with their skill and professionalism. They were incredibly careful - lowering large, heavy limbs and branches by rope to the ground, ensuring that nothing below was damaged, constantly raking, blowing, removing, and cleaning. We asked him for an estimate to remove a 90' oak tree on our property that had died. Their price was more than fair and reasonable and they began work immediately after completing my neighbor's job - the same day! They were able to cut down most of the canopy before evening and returned the following morning to finish. This was a huge tree, very close to my house, so we were a little nervous. It was fascinating to watch as the climber selected the order in which the limbs were to be cut and roped them off so they could be lowered in a controlled manner. Some of these limbs weighed hundreds of pounds, yet, except for some completely expected divots in the ground, there was no damage. Matt and his team did an amazing job today. We had a large dead Ash tree and large pine on side of our house. We took a small pine down by ourselves but they hauled away the extra wood and ground the stump for us. AM was prompt with their quote and professional throughout the entire process. Extremely reasonable. In fact, driving out from their primary location area was about 40 minutes to Schaumburg and their quote for insured work was one of the best. It's no surprise the dead Ash tree epidemic everyone is facing. They were the ONLY company in our area that I felt didn't take advantage of that circumstance. I don't mind paying for services I really don't but some companies like to capitalize on your bad fortune. They picked up EVERY scrap of branch and leaves and blew the sidewalk, driveway, and street clear. We had a house, a pool, and a fence to dodge and I can't believe they didn't trample any of my plants in my flower beds. My yard looked better afterwards when they were done. I had a large branch break off from a Bradford Pear tree and fall on my garage the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Hoping we could handle ourselves and then realizing we needed a professional, I called AM Tree Service @ 1:30AM Thanksgiving morning planning on leaving a message. Within SECONDS Matthew called me back and said he would take a look and provide an estimate. Once I received his extremely fair estimate within days,(remember this was Thanksgiving weekend), we decided it made more sense to remove the tree entirely. I selected AM Tree service based on reviews, price and prompt clear responses to my questions. I had two 50 ft silver maples, a 35 ft cherry, a row of overgrown arborvitae removed, stumps ground and a river birch trimmed. I was particularly worried about the one big maple close (6-8 feet) to the house. The crew was very professional and dropped all the trees exactly where they wanted them. I liked that they wore harnesses and worked safely and efficiently. They cleaned up thoroughly and left the property in clean condition and finished the job in half a day. I would recommend AM Tree Service to anyone and everyone. We had some old locust trees that were just too crowded in our backyard, and Anthony helped us with not only the removal, but with the trimming of our other trees. What I really liked the best is that Anthony took the time to come to our house and go over each tree with us so we knew exactly what needed to be done. I called other services (that were much pricier), and all they did was stop by when I wasn't home and tell me it was going to cost such and such price. Anthony was incredibly knowledgeable as well. It was August 2016 when we contacted AM Tree Service with regard to the removal of our crab tree which has the scab disease. When Matthew came out, it recommended to give the tree another year to see if any improvement since we were trying to eliminate the disease with a spray. He did not pressure us to remove the tree in order to drum-up business for them. Because of his honesty and character, we decided to give this tree another chance. However, after the bloom this late April, the leaves are showing signs of the scab disease and already the tree is starting to shed. We had two LARGE trees in the back yard that needed to be taken down. They were hemmed in by our home and privacy fence, alley, street and house electric service lines (to our home and a neighbor), and an underground irrigation system. Matt and team coordinated with ComEd to de-energize the lines. This job required a large crane, which they coordinated and the operator worked like a surgeon in a very limited space. Every member of the AM team knew their job and went about systematically disassembling each tree and in a controlled and safe manner. All the AM team members hustled all day long to minimize the time the electric service was off. AM Tree Service left my property cleaner than it was when the showed up. I had Matt come our a couple of weeks ago to give me a price on cutting down about 4 trees. He came out gave me a very reasonable price. They were not on my property, they were my neighbors tree, but i did get permission to get them cut down, at least i thought. A week went by and i mentioned it to my neighbor again, well they thought i meant trimmed... So they said they didnt want them cut down but i could trim my side.. So i called Matt and explained and he understood and gave me another price.. The day of the trimming the guys showed up and the other showed up. They did a great job and after everything was done it was like they wasn't here! Except one thing the trees were trimmed very well off my property! So no more mulberries! This company was cutting down trees in our neighborhood while my boys and I were playing basketball in the driveway. Our ball rolled into the street while one of their trucks was driving by. The ball was ran over and popped underneath the truck. It was nobody's fault. Just bad luck. 30 minutes later, our doorbell rang and it was the employee who ran over the ball.
