Recommendation for Sinnott Tree Services located in McCook This company has been around a long time. We had three large dead trees in our backyard. Being prudent, we shopped around since we knew this would not be a cheap project.. The bids were across the board, from $2300 to $9000. Finally, my husband, who is in the construction trade, told me to get an estimate from Sinnott. He has known the company for many years. Their bid was right in the middle. But the thing that really sold me was that an arborist (tree specialist) came out to do the estimate. In addition to the tree cutting, we showed them some branches we wanted cut down on other trees and were told that it would be very bad for the trees to have done now, it needs to be in the fall so as not to damage the existing tree. No one else told me that. They were just going to cut them down. A group of 4 very polite men came to do the job. They had all of the equipment needed, including a crane and a lift. Two of the trees were very tall and none of the others had that equipment. They were going to climb the trees.. My stumps were ground and everything was cleaned up very well. You might get someone cheaper but not as good. That's it. Just wanted to share. read more

Just so disappointed in this tree service. We like to support smaller companies. We had an appt with Nichole. She did not show up, we had to call, she said she was running late, gave us a later time, she was late again. Seems knowledgeable about trees but is not a certified Arborist (but says she almost is). We agree with her suggestions and date/price. We arrange to be present and last minute she canceled (broken truck). She said she would call that afternoon to reschedule. No call. Had a pine tree fall over during this recent cold snap. In both my and my neighbor's yards. The Sinnott Tree Service was contracted by the village to trim the trees on the street side. I understand they have to trim the low hanging limbs I do not understand why they are trimming to the point where there are only a few branches left. The tree doesn't have a pleasant shape to it. It looks like a butcher randomly cut the limbs. I do not recommend anyone hire them unless they don't care what the tree looks like. I am very disappointed in the way it turned out. read more

When my wife & I decided it was time to remove the tree in the backyard, we search high & low for a local tree removal service. We got 3 estimates, checked with our village, and all 3 companies were ones that they had used before, so they came recommended. Sinnott Tree Service was the first one to return my call, and his estimate was not the most expensive and not the least, but his crew did a fabulous job, were on time, cleaned up when they were finished, there was no damage to driveway, all the guys on site were wearing all the proper safety equipment and hauled away all debris--you should see all of the equipment they used, I was very impressed. My neighbor's house was 8 feet away from the tree, and the crew removed the tree with the precision of a skilled surgeon. Keep in mind that the tree that was being removed was at least 40 feet high and a drip ring diameter of 40 feet wide and a trunk that was 3-4 feet in diameter. That was the painless part, losing the tree was the painful part, especially for a tree that was more than 65 years old. We would definitely use them again! read more

Sinnott just removed two diseased 30' fir trees from my property. This is a small lot and they had very little room to navigate their gigantic equipment, but they did so perfectly. They impressed us with their expertise and safety protocol, from laying plywood to protect my lawn, to lifting the trees over 40' in the air to clear electrical wires. Couldn't be happier with Sinnott. We had a huge Siberian Elm in our backyard that was dropping large branches and was unsafe. Mack gave us a quote that was lower than any others we received. We had to coordinate with our neighbors to use their yard for the removal and they even provided the extra insurance documents for our neighbor. They could not, however, the person who responded recommended I check out the compost program with the Chicago Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. The response was that I should hire someone local and that it would cost me too much to have them come into the city. Well, forget my opinion, last night proved it all after 70 mph winds and 3" of rain. After their trimming 05/14, I did not find a single branch off the tree this morning. Unfortunately, neighbors trees were damaged. Note that anyone with a polesaw, rope, and insurance document can take down a tree. Conversely, these guys are arborists, have purchased premium equipment (Stihl) and know the trees from a scientific view. Enough said. Use them.
