Two weeks ago on a Saturday, while on "quarantine", we decided to drive from our beach house to our desert house for a day trip. We brought my very senior parents, who hadn't been out for three weeks, and their caregiver along. Exited the 10 Fwy at Hwy 111 to take in the sights on our way to Indio. Checked Yelp for a take-out local sandwich shop. Read the reviews and decided on Sub King. Called to be sure they were open and placed our order. John, called back before we arrived to clarify one of our "custom" sandwiches. We arrived a few minutes later. All was ready except the meatball sandwich. John said he waited until we arrived before assembling it so it wouldn't get "soggy" or cold waiting for us. We had tuna, ham and meatball subs. We all thought the subs were yummy! Prices reasonable. Food fresh, meats prepared and or sliced on site. HUGE selection! Staff friendly. Very appreciative for our business. Will definitely return. read more

Hate to be a contrarian with all these flattering views, but didn't really find anything that special about this place. Had the turkey, bacon, guacamole and it was just OK (hence the rating). Fresh meat, veggies, and basic french roll. Think I'm more about the bread "making the sandwich" and have been spoiled with the flavorful likes of Brown Bag in San Diego or Meatheadz in Huntington Beach. This place has a cult following, my fiance is included in that group, I am not. Their meatball sandwich is pretty decent, but don't get their spicy Italian. It was short on crisp, yummy veggies and high on salty saltiness! The only veggies in it were peppercinis, pickles, and a few chopped up tomatoes. Even the dressing was salty! Everything I have had here has been amazing, except for the turkey. It's very processed and just blah. I don't remember it being like these a couple of years ago. The bread and onion, tomato, pickle mix make the sandwiches though. Amazing. I do have to agree with the customer service. Haven't had SubKing in a couple years now because I am obsessed with the Taco place next door but just had subs delivered to me at work and was instantly reminded how yummy they are. A large was easily split 3 ways in my office and all the ingredients taste fresh plus the bread is very soft. Yummy!! I love their sandwiches!! Full of delicious meat and cheese customized the way you want it. Food comes out quick!! Good for lunch or a light dinner! I have been coming here since 2000,the original owner was still in control of all aspects of the business,floors where clean walls and windows clean and restrooms where always very clean. He had a system in place to run his business and it worked. He sold the business a few employees stayed on,so the product remained closely the same,only slowly things started to change,regular customers that used to frequent this business no exactly what I mean. I recently dropped in a had what will be my last visit, I came in six months ago and ordered a sandwich to eat there and noticed how run down and dirty every part of the dining room,bathrooms the overall appearance was sickening.So I introduced myself as a long time customer of this business,only that I had moved from this area and stopped coming in as frequently,but that I have been in off and on over the past 7 years and have been seeing the downturn of this business and thought I should share my view with the New Owner,so I did and that's it he obviously didn't care about anything that I had talked to him about. read more

this is the best sandwich shop in the desert. the bread is ridiculous. fast and cheap and i go at least once every two weeks. my boyfriend would go everyday if i let him. he eats the craziest pastrami, salami, italian meat crazy artery killer every time. my bff came to town and she got the tuna/avocado which she said rocked. i always get roast beef and i've never been disappointed. look for coupons and get a king size, sub king soda. read more
