I went to see Jacqui yesterday after the last stylist I saw in Belltown left me underwhelmed. She gave me the perfect platinum that I was hoping for and not only that, my hair still feels soft and healthy. She is funny and personable, my time with her FLEW by. *I have not been to Stylus...yet* This review is 100% about their esthetician, Alice, who I used to see regularly at a different spa. She is amazing! She is so knowledgeable about skincare, why certain products work and others don't and what you need to do to improve your skin. Facials from Alice come with a crash course in biochemistry! I cannot sing her praises enough. She gave me wonderful suggestions on products that drastically improved my skin (adult acne sucks!) and made my skin feel amazing after every facial. read more

I've been to see Robert twice (for a haircut) and sent my sister once (for platinum color), and we have been nothing but pleased with the results. When I moved to Seattle from San Francisco I was really sad to break up with my colorist of 8 years. I was worried and nervous about finding someone new in Seattle that would "get" my thick but thin unruly hair. Our first meeting Erica read me and said exactly what I wanted but couldn't express. A year later, I am so grateful for this girl, she truly cares about the quality of work she does and is invested in learning and being aware of current trends. She doesn't get mad when I cut my own bangs. HIGHLY recommend Alice for lashes - she had done mine for about two years and recently had to stop as moved to east coast. She is the absolute best and had always received compliment after compliment on how natural and great they looked! She has a relaxing private space, the most comfortable bed and takes after-work appointments for fills (5:45/6p). These were really nice after stressful work days. Nicole and Amanda at the front desk are also amazing - always a warm greeting with a smile and an offer for a beverage. I read about this salon on Yelp and decided to try it out. I am glad I did... I've been back a few times because the services there are awesome. :) I have coarse, thick and short hair (Asian hair is hard to deal with)... and somehow Jacqui managed to make it look pretty awesome. :) She definitely knows what she's doing and is very friendly. I had sugaring done by Kelly a couple of times. I would recommend her as well! Somehow she makes the services seem a lot less painful than what I remember! As well, she's just a friendly person and always has a smile when I see her. I had a massage with Rita, who is also, another great person. I've never had a massage before, so this was definitely a new (and good) experience. She recommended a couple of stretches to help deal with my shoulder pains. Bottom line, this is a great salon. :) Everyone is so friendly and seem to be passionate about what they do. read more

I booked Stylus for my wedding and could not have been more pleased. I coordinated the appointment details with GM Nichole who was very friendly and quick at responding to my emails and following up. I had to change around some services and she found a way to work everything in for our day-of schedule (we had a party of 8 for hair appointments and 2 for makeup.) Sinclair was my stylist and I cannot say enough about him. He was kind and professional, he listened to what I wanted my hair to look like and then he executed it perfectly. I cannot tell you how rare that is! I feel like he really understood the atmosphere and vision of the wedding (asking about my dress, the venue, time of day of the ceremony, etc) which made me even more confident about how the final results would look. He also didn't charge for my trial hair which was a pleasant surprise. Marci did my makeup and again, listened to exactly what I had in mind (something very fresh and natural) and made it work beautifully with my personal features. She was sweet and fun and overall a true wizard. She was also very knowledgeable about different products and brands and what would work best with my very dry skin. Also, last minute, some of my bridesmaids wanted her to apply false eye lashes and Marci was very accommodating I think even had some spare sets on hand. Also, the facility is great. Very crisp and bright (big skylight) and they had a whole bar table at the back of the salon that we used for bagels, coffee, mimosas, and fruit. Overall the staff was friendly, wildly professional and accommodating. It was a great and relaxing start to our wedding day and I would recommend it to anyone looking to book for their wedding as well! read more

She will take you into a room that's stylish, clean and extremely comfortable. You lay back onto a warm and cozy bed that feels like a cloud. Anissa makes sure to check with you on what style of lashes (volume, length) you would like to have. She then takes a look to see what she thinks your natural lashes can handle to insure the extensions will inflict minimal damage. After a quick consult, you lay back and she works her magic. You can nap if you want or enjoy a lovely conversation with a girl who is dynamic, funny and kind. You can tell she truly cares about getting to know you and ensuring you look incredible when your eyes finally open and you get to look in the mirror. The lashes are always even, full, and most importantly for me, comfortable. She is fast, gentle, and extremely knowledgeable. There isn't a better person in the city for lashes. Do yourself a favor and book with her. And be sure to book your fill appointments out ahead of time! She is getting busy because the word is getting out. I found Jacqui via this web site. When I read about her talent for cutting short hair I knew I had to try it out. Went in April the first time and back today for another cut. She seemed to immediately know what I needed (which wasn't what I had!!) to control my short, fine hair. And what a great place to visit. Friendly and helpful. I always get there a little early but think next time I will arrive even earlier so as to take advantage of sipping my selected drink and browsing a great mag. I love Stylus! I followed Ellen from another salon and I am even happier here! The salon itself is beautiful - modern and bright with local artwork for sale on the walls, gorgeous chandeliers and skylights to let in plenty of natural light. The customer service is wonderful in person or on the phone: everyone is friendly and seems genuinely happy to work there. I am always offered something to drink and to hang up my coat. A fun addition: the restrooms are gorgeous!! (No, I've never reviewed restrooms before.) Just go look & you'll see what I mean... Plus, parking is always easy to find - no matter what day or time I visit. Now about Ellen: she is amazing! She asks lots of questions to ensure she will provide what I want and explains what she will do before getting started. Ellen is hands-down the best colorist I have ever seen! She has an absolute gift with taking my ideas or pictures I bring in and turning into a flattering color just for me (depending on what I request, she will process full color and/or foils). She's also very skilled with haircuts and styling and I always leave feeling beautiful. After a visit with Ellen, I receive numerous compliments on my hair & then I often have co-workers try to duplicate the look. :-) In addition to all of this, Ellen is professional, fun and easy to talk with. read more

Short version: Anna is a fabulous colorist and stylist, and after going to her twice I don't think I'll ever go anywhere else. Stylus provides a friendly, no-hassle experience and street parking is easy to find, which is a huge plus. I've been to Anna twice in the last year after calling Stylus and getting a recommendation for a great colorist. In October, she gave me a super natural looking ombre after my hair had been blonde for several years - I'm a natural brunette. We looked through pictures together before she started, and picked out a subtle Khloe Kardashian ombre. I could tell she had a strong knowledge of what colors work with which skin tones, and her technique was impeccable. The style was perfectly low maintenance and grew out really well over the next 8 months. Not only was I thrilled with the color, but I work in retail and SO MANY customers have complimented my hair and asked who did it. Today I came back for a cut and to update my color a bit. My long hair has been completely fried by heat styling and years of coloring, and I was nervous about what style Anna could do without basically chopping it all off. She gave me gorgeous highlights over the ombre, and on top of that, I have never been happier with a haircut. The few inches she cut off and subtle layering have completely changed the way my hair looks. This may be the only time in my life I've gotten a significant haircut and haven't left the salon in tears/with major separation anxiety. (Yes, I'm one of those people who can be a bit emotional about her hair...) Throughout the appointment I grilled Anna about products and styling. She recommended a good brush for giving myself salon-style blow dries, and spent time teaching me how to get relaxed curls with a straightener. And she didn't try to convince me to buy all of the products the salon offers -in fact, when I asked her about deep conditioning masks she told me to just use coconut oil. Knowing she wasn't trying to sell me anything made me trust her opinion even more - I ended up getting a heat protectant spray she used on my hair as well as some lilac hair chalk that she had put on her own hair. The salon itself is super laid back, and everyone is incredibly friendly. Finding a new salon and a stylist whose work you trust can be really hard, so I'm thrilled I tracked down Anna and can't recommend her enough. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Stylus, and my new colorist Erica!! I recently moved to Seattle from NYC, and Erica was recommended to me by a co-worker. I went to see her last week because I wanted to lighten my dark brown hair with some blonde highlights for summer. Erica was very open and direct in communicating exactly what would be required to achieve the effect I wanted, and what result I could expect. So we were on the exact same page before she ever even touched my hair. I was completely blown away by the result. I only got partial highlights, but because she was so thorough and meticulous, it totally looks like I have a full head of highlights. I'm also much blonder than I expected to be after just my first visit - a good thing! And the color is very natural and well-blended, exactly what I was hoping for. I could NOT be happier with the way it looks. On top of that, Erica was very warm and friendly and even gave me some great restaurant recommendations, given that I'm new to Seattle. She listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions, and made me feel very comfortable the entire time. I like this place! I went in for a foil to get my dyed black hair back to blonde. I have to say that the decor alone is enough to come back alone! But, we all know that is not what counts when entrusting a strangers skill set with your hair. I arrived early for my appointment and I was quickly served a beverage after being seated with my stylist. We discussed what I was looking for as far coloring and got started. It's the most blonde I've been since making the horrible mistake to dye my hair dark, I have to say that the process to return to my roots has been quite lengthy. I did a partial lash extension with Alice last night and I loved it. This was the first time I've ever had them done and also my first time at Stylus. The shop was clean and bright and the service was warm and friendly. Alice did a fabulous job explaining everything to me while she was doing the lashes. My lashes look so wonderful and natural but at the same time amazing. I'm sure I am going to get a lot of comments on them. I won't have to wear mascara now! Alice is such a doll and she was so delicate, careful and exact. She doesn't mess around with quality. It is very clear that she takes a lot of pride in her work and wants to do it right the first time. If you are thinking about eye lash extensions I highly (very highly) recommend Stylus and Alice. Stylus is a new salon in Belltown. I am not normally found in Belltown as I tend to be more of a CD girl but I went there to see Kellianne. Kellianne is an awesome crimson hair lady recently imported from SoHo in NYC.She really knows how to create a superb do. My hair is fine yet curly, full of pitfalls but Kellianne groomed my mane effortlessly. I am still getting compliments even though it has been more than 6 weeks.So even if you live in the CD and Stylus seems like a bit of a trek, I would recommend making the journey. read more

JACQUI!! I found Jacqui through her reviews on Yelp and I am so incredibly happy that I did. Her reviews couldn't have been more accurate. I am a female who is VERY picky about her short hair style. It's a common misconception that short hair is easy to cut. Jacqui had many excellent reviews from men and I thought that if they thought she was great enough to take the time and write about her I would give her a shot. And let me tell you they were 100% right! The second I met Jacqui she told me she was happy I had short hair because she loved to cut short hair. I knew this was the stylist for me!
