Went in for a bang trim.... not cool. Came here for the second time because I loved it so much the first time, the guy that initially gave me bangs a couple of weeks back was the cutest!!! Yesterday, i went in, super excited to be back and got my cut right away. I told her I wanted my bangs to frame my face and she did that.. but the front looked crazy, i didn't say anything bc I usually hate my haircuts as soon as I get them.. I thought maybe if I just put some water on my hair once I got home it would look a little better.. nope. My bangs were apparently cut too thick the first time so she only cut certain parts so now if I even move my face a little bit, the long pieces get in my face and it looks super choppy in the front and uneven. It looks like my little sister when at it on my hair instead of a stylist. At this point I wish I would've just let my hair grow out. My hairstylist also kinda seemed like she was over me being there and I felt like I was waisting her time for just coming in for a non expensive bang trim.. i know it's just hair and that it'll grow back, but I was pretty bummed with the whole experience :/ read more

I started going to Justine (who is an amazing colorist) almost a year ago, and the only reason I have stopped is b/c I moved out of state (I actually considered staying just b/c I loved my hair dresser so much)! This salon is great, they always know exactly who I am and I'm always greeted with a friendly, "Hi Julie!" everytime I walk in. The staff is so friendly yes very professioanl and the stylists are total experts. The salon and the staff are always giving back to the community and environment and that really impressed me. I'm considering traveling back once very 8 weeks just to keep going here!!! I certainly will miss it. read more

I'm in love with my hair! It's been a while since I've had my haircut and I've never had any color done to my hair but now in my 30s with a baby I decided to have highlights put in to cover the greys and brighten things up. It was my first time at the salon, I had Melanie as my hairdresser and she was fantastic. I walked in super nervous as I never had any color put in my hair, I didn't want it to not look natural. But it looks perfect!! I can't wait to come back and have more color put in. I'm so excited to have found a new salon to hopefully be put of my hair future! Also I love how busy it was. This place is quite lovely! The stylists and reception staff are so welcoming and friendly, I felt right at home when I walked through the doors. They offered me a drink, which was nice. My wait for Michelle was only about 5-7 minutes and she really worked her magic on my hair! I got a cut and warm timed highlights added to my very dark brown hair. She spent time giving me a beautiful blow out and then curling my hair. I walked out of Style Points a new woman. I won't go anywhere else. The salon's atmosphere was cheery and the staff were helpful and nice. My stylist was Hayley and I would recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing experience. She took the pictures I had from online and made it her own and gave me a half up/half down look for a wedding I was attending later on in the day. My hair stayed exactly as it was from the salon in the morning all through the night and I couldn't have asked for any better! I went there with high expectations because of all the positive reviews . I booked my appointment 2weeks in advance and was excited. No one called me to confirm or for reminder. So,I called a day before to check on my appointment time (9:00 am)and Receptionist that day told me different time and said my appointment was for 9:15 not 9:00. The day-I am new to the area and I got lost a bit and reached around 9:18 am.I understand I was bit late Then 9:15. The Receptionist greeted me cold and told me I was supposed to be there at 9:00. I told her about my phone conversation a day ago but she acted as if I am lying. She never asked me to sit while she went to stylist and talked about my appointment. I was just standing there for about 10 minutes . She made me feel unwelcome and gave me stares . She told me I could only get hair cut and no color because I am late 30 minutes. I was upset but still agreed to get haircut and thought I should give it a chance. The stylist was ok but did not exactly deliver what I wanted and she cut my hair shorter then what I wanted. I am sorry you guys did not live up to your reviews.The Receptionist was very rude and unprofessional. I have never had such kind of customer service in my life. I LOVE Style Points. I am a biracial curly hair and have been to many salons that only know how to deal with straight white hair. Brittany is the BEST! When you get in you are greeted by a professional and friendly receptionist and offered a drink (wine, beer, coffee, or tea). The staff is also trained in Deva Curl. Check out is just as helpful. These ladies are hair professionals. Because this place is so great be aware that you do need to be sure to book in advance. Time slots fill up quickly. Emma is my new hero. There is no other way to start this then by saying that. In my 38 years, I can honestly say this is the first time I have actually gotten exactly what I asked for. EXACTLY what I asked for. Emma took over 8 inches off my hair today...She added layers and styled me up. To say she did an amazing job would be an understatement. She listened to me, she helped me explain what I wanted when I couldn't find the words, she gave me some direction where I was unsure and she was patient and kind. Lets be real, its just hair but 8 inches is a lot of hair to lose! She made me comfortable and relaxed. She is amazing. And don't even get me started on the shampoo. Oh my. The Salon itself is wonderful. Very inviting. I am a full time working mother of 2. My schedule is crazy and the hour I spend in the salon is the only me time I am going to get and they make me feel like a Queen. Super happy. style points is top notch! from the moment you walk in, you are treated like a rock star... and they make it look and feel positively effortless from the moment you step in the door. i don't get my hair cut often, (maybe 3-4x/year) but when i do, it's usually a doozie. no matter what cockamamie idea i come in with, kerri is able to translate that to something that looks dynamite on my child-sized, misshaped melon. one time i brought in photos of joe strummer's mohawk AND janelle monae's pompadour and kerri was like "challenge accepted!"... and she nailed it!! since i don't cut my hair often, i am always impressed when my hair grows out into another permutation that also looks freakin awesome. how does kerri do it? i don't know, maybe she's some kind of omnipotent wizard. if you don't 100% love your hair, they will always make it right. just ask. i know that there is a delicate balance between what i think i want my hair to look like and what looks good on me; and i have learned to trust kerri's judgement. sometimes what i want requires way more daily effort than im willing to put into my morning regime. she takes that into account. please note: im a complete pain in the ass: alternately super-picky and "oh just do whatever you think!".... and they have never let me down! p.s. as an extreme athlete, kerri also has a firm grasp on what will look fabulous for your tough-mudder finish-line selfie, exiting the swim leg of a triathlon, or when you need to remove a sweaty bike helmet and climb up on a podium. read more

I'm trying not to trash this salon based off of my first experience being a negative one, but I was looking at my hair in the mirror this morning, and I felt compelled to write a review. I moved to Manchester last July and asked a co-worker for recommendation for a hair salon. They referred me to a salon out in Bristol, and I was VERY pleased with the service and results. The week before Valentine's Day this year, I was trying to get in for a color and they were booked, and I was desperate to get my hair done. I searched to see if I could find a salon closer to Manchester. Stumbled upon Style Points and decided to give them a try. They said they could get me in at 5:15, the day before Valentine's Day. I was nervous to try a new salon, but I figured it's just a color, not a cut... should be safe. The salon has a nice atmosphere. Very welcoming. The receptionist was friendly. They offered me hot beverages while I waited. The stylist that I had an appointment with was very friendly and easy to talk to, but we clearly have different visions of what "warm brown" is. She had actually brought the color board over to me and I showed her what I was envisioning. She seemed like she understood. She put the color on and then sat me under the hair dryer, and left me there for what seemed like 55/60 minutes. One of the other stylists came to check on me after realizing I'd been sitting there for so long. When my stylist washed out my hair and took the towel off my head in front of the mirror, I felt a knot in my stomach. I voiced my concern that this was not a "warm brown" ... this was BLACK. She said, "oh, no.. it'll warm up once I dry it.." I stated that it was WAY TOO DARK for my complexion and that I was not okay with this color. She dried one section of hair, and I told her that this was not even close to what I wanted. She told me she would fix it, and went to consult with the manager. The owner of the salon came over and asked me what I had been "going for"... I again explained that I had wanted a "warm brown" and showed her what I originally showed the stylist on the color board. She said they would fix it. The stylist that did the color came over and apologized and said she wasn't sure why it turned out so dark, and that she was sorry. I got the feeling that she felt pretty bad, so I tried to be patient and have faith that they could correct this. The manager had her put foils in my hair, and then afterwards, the manager threw a red glaze on top - "to warm it up". They did not blow dry my hair after doing this. I left the salon at 9:15 with wet hair, and paid $70. That night, my hair felt so dry and damaged. Days later, the color actually looked pretty.. it was basically a very, very dark brown with deep red highlights. But it wasn't what I went there for. And my hair felt so unhealthy. The color faded pretty fast, and I have all these split-end looking pieces and I feel like everything that I did to keep my hair looking healthy was ruined by that one salon visit. It looks and feels damaged, and I actually PAID to have that done... it makes me sick to my stomach. I will not be visiting this salon again, even though the location is much more convenient than the salon I love in Bristol. I understand and appreciate that the stylist and the owner tried to do what they could to correct it, and to try to make me happy, but they can't undo the damage done to my hair. read more

She's new to the industry and goes above and beyond to please you! Style Points is excellent. Friendly and Professional. From all the reviews I read, I made my first appointment with Emma. I have short hair and it was all outgrown. I didnt think there would be much change and I really didnt know what I wanted. Emma took the time to discuss with me the many options I had and helped me decide what kind of style I was looking for. After a wonderful scalp massage, she worked a miracle with my hair! It came out fantastic! I love it! I also have to commend the receptionist, Brittany Marie. I had purchased some hair product and Brittany broke down the cost of the haircut and the product for me. She explained the first time client gets 15% off and she also made another appointment for me and explained how they are trying to "go green", so my scheduled appointment was printed on my receipt. My first appointment I thought I had found a great salon. The salon was designed very nice. Every appointment there seemed to get worse and worse. On my first appointment I was very dissatisfied. My highlights looked like cheetah spots! This was my second visit to style points and I am sorry to say that it is also the last one. I have been getting my hair done for a long time and I know exactly what I want and what my hair can do (I don't have unrealistic expectations) sadly, I had to move and find a new hair stylist, which in my opinion is worst than trying to find a new doctor; but anyway, after many disappointments and failures I came across Style Points and their awesome reviews, so one more time I thought I would give it another shot and see if I could try to get my old hair back. When I called to make my first appointment I specifically asked for someone highly experienced, and I described what I wanted so they scheduled me with Tara. After meeting Tara and explaining to her what I wanted I was immediately disappointed by her lack of interest in my desires, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt since she is a professional and it was my first time with her. Sadly, I was right; I was disappointed with my color, I have dark, medium length hair and I wanted Ombre highlights, I left looking like if I had tried to do it myself with only a few strands of brassy-orange hair...well, I should have learned my lesson right there but instead I called back hoping that someone else could see me and give me what I really wanted. Unfortunately, when I called to make my second appointment, the same thing happened, I asked for someone with "Ombre" experience and they still booked me with Tara. So I went and one more time she disappointed me. My hair is horrible, instead of the strands that are supposed to smoothly fade into a lighter color look I have horizontal lines of dark and light hair. The color is horrible too, it is orange. I am so upset, but I hate confrontations so what was I to say? Specially when she never seems to have enough time, hoping for a correction was out of the question I thought, and of course then I'd have to deal with the awkwardness from the confrontations, etc. I never tip below 20% but my disappointment was such that I had to tip her 15% although she deserved 0 tip. If you are looking for professionals that are up to date with the latest techniques I would not recommend this place, although I think it is a CT thing because I never see people with nice hair anywhere. After searching here on yelp I actually came across this salon. They seemed to have fairly high ratings so I thought it would be a great place to go and try something new. Everything went great once I got there up until it came down to what I wanted. My stylist and I both agreed on a simple trim for my hair but when it came down to the color we both I guess had different idea's. I simply wanted to go one or two shades lighter with my hair. The stylist insisted I did high lights but I personally was never a fan of the streaky/stripy look of highlights. After a few minutes of her and I going back and forth she convinced me that the highlights would look great. So after everything was done I looked at my hair and there is blonde stripes throughout my hair (which is exactly what I did not want....at all) not only was I leaving the store with something that I hated but I also left playing around $150. Once I got home and my hair dried I called the salon back in a panic about how badly I looked. They simply said come back in and they will "fix" it. So the next morning I went back and got nothing but attitude... Not to mention they just dyed my hair back to the original color it was when I first came in... So over all it was an ok hair cut I Received but I do not think my $150 was well spent when I basically paid to get my hair back to what it was when I came in. read more

Wow! What an amazing experience! This was my first visit to Style Points Salon, and I will definitely be going back! I have recently moved to the area, and searched Yelp to get a good salon. When I called I was given an appointment the very next day - unheard of where I come from! I was very nervous, but I was made to feel so welcome by the receptionist, who offered me coffee, and was very friendly and helpful. My stylist was Samantha, who was recommended by the receptionist. Samantha was amazing! She really listened to me and never took offense when I explained that my hair could be tricky and sometimes turned yellow when being colored. Samantha was friendly, gentle and very attentive all through the appointment. I felt I was in very capable hands. I was in and out in 2 hours after having had highlights, a cut and blow out and that's incredible! As a first time client I received a 15% discount and I also bought a new shampoo, which Samantha recommended and got 15% off that too. I left the salon feeling like a million dollars, and I love my hair! Samantha really did a fantastic job and my hair looks great ... I really can't recommend the salon highly enough 10 stars for an amazing experience! read more
