I have fine black hair and was looking for ashy blond balayage. My did an incredible job -- she reached the color I wanted in just two sessions. She takes her time and makes sure she achieve what her clients came in for. I was unhappy with my hair stylist for years and never had the courage to change. Finally, I researched numerous salons in the Middletown/Cromwell/Rocky Hill area and chose My's Salon on the basis of other reviews, and more important, the photos of her clients results. I was looking for someone who would do a color that was subtle and tasteful - nothing too bold or with colors that looked, um, cheap. I was extremely pleased with what My achieved in terms of color. In addition, I love that My's salon is attractive, clean and relaxing. My herself is not simply a "hairdresser" but a serious student of her professional. I got an excellent cut and eyebrow wax with My. I had a very good esthetician and a very good hairdresser and both decided to move away almost at the same time. I was very worried about finding replacements who would meet the high bar these two ladies set. I am very happy to find My and her salon. She did an excellent job on the brow wax. I look in the mirror every day and am very satisfied. The haircut is really good. I have received a lot of compliments. That hasn't happened in a while! Not only does it look good when I take the time to style it, but my mark of a good haircut: It looks decent if you let it air dry, too. And it does. I am a very satisfied customer. I am really disappointed(My first hair color experience). I went to My after reading all the great reviews,but to my disappointment the highlights done on my hair are barely visible. My was honest enough to not recommend me bleaching as i have black hair and it would need constant maintenance ,but having an hair salon experience of 15-20 years i believed her on knowing the coloring basics of highlights for my black hair and wanted a change for myself.We did a strand of hair before the actual session to see if the color shows up on my hair and when it didn't i was clear enough with my to have a highlight without bleach) which shows up. But to my extreme disappointment none of my friends could noticed the color and the haircut. The haircut was also an average cut which you could get from a Supercut as well. I needed a change from my regular stylist and routine and heard about My's Salon. She was recommended as a great colorist and she did not disappoint. She made suggestions for cut and color to enhance volume and I trusted her judgment as to both, even though I was a bit apprehensive about adding lowlights and going a little shorter with my length. I sent a pic to my daughter who is a hair guru in Boston and she said my hair never looked fuller and more healthy. Her shop is relaxing and comfortable and I had her complete undivided attention the entire time I was there. I can recommend her without reservation to anyone who needs a true colorist or is looking for a color change and honest guidance for a particular hair issue and don't we all have hair issues? I've been a client of Myhang's (My) since 2013, when she worked for a salon in Cromwell, CT. Despite her large, regular list of clients, I was always able to get an appointment and continued to have easy access to last-minute cuts, often accommodating my time schedule and availability (which is tough when a stylist is so busy). Her work has always been spectacular, with attention to detail, a crisp edge at the ends, thoughtful thinning of my thick top hair and a great fading to blend different lengths at the edges of "high-and-tight" style cuts that is exemplary of her professional skill and careful execution. She has a great eye for style, recommends changes and options when you're interested in changes or trends, and brings a great attitude and friendly smile to every sitting. I can't wait to get a cut every time I come to the 3rd week of my monthly schedule and am always excited to have a refreshing, courteous and attentive session at the hands of a talented stylist and genuine professional. I was lucky to catch her as she made plans to open her own salon and now has a stylish place with coffee, magazines and a very elegant atmosphere that fits her own unique sense of modern and classic design. I admittedly had to Facebook stalk my hair dresser to find her new location and I'm ok with that! Myhang is honest and has never steered me in the wrong direction. Having her as my go-to has allowed me to venture outside the box and have some fun with my hair. I have naturally curly hair and it is hard to find someone that actually knows what they are doing.
