I wanted to make sure this time I had an experienced knowledgeable stylist that could fix my hair and I found THE best one, Ivelisse! She has skill, training, experience and a great personality. She doesn't talk down to you or make you feel like you're not cool enough to be there. Within minutes of explaining what I wanted done she had a plan and explained everything that needed to happen for me to achieve it. I've been there 4 times now and look forward to each visit. I know when I leave I'm going to be looking good! People compliment my hair all the time. The salon is modern, clean and has a nice vibe to it. It's classy but not full of itself, ya know? The stylists look like people, not wanna be models and you feel comfortable with yourself. They offer you drinks and even a snack if you're going to be there awhile. But everyone who works there is amazing at what they do. The energy at this salon is 10/10 and you can feel it as soon as you walk in. They offer coffee, tea, water and snacks while you're waiting to be seated to even when you're getting your hair done. All the staff members are so kind and welcoming as well. I can't even think about ever going to another salon because Salon Nathaniel is simply the best out there! When my stylist left the salon I had been going to, I thought it was time for a change. I scheduled an appointment with Nate, who was the best fit for me according to the woman who scheduled my appointment, since I wanted someone who was good with color and curly hair. When I went in on Tuesday 2/3, I explained to Nate that I wanted to match my natural color and eliminate the brassiness from my old color fading a bit. He pulled out the color matcher and even brought in another stylist for a second set of eyes. Totally thought we were on the same page at that point. He then asked if we could put in "a few caramel colored highlights." After he reassured me that it wouldn't be drastically different from my natural hair color, I agreed. What I left with was platinum blond highlights, and roots that are a lighter color from the rest of my hair because he didn't pull the color through (even though it is a different brand/different color than used on the remainder of my hair, as this salon uses Redken and my previous salon did not). When I specifically asked him to pull it through, he used a totally different color glaze (Redken Shades vs Chromatics that he used on my roots) so needless to say that didn't really match/help. If anything, I think he made the ends of my hair darker, so the contrast to the highlights was more obvious. The worst part of hair color is that you have no idea what is happening until the "unveiling" and by then, the damage is already done. When I got home and saw my hair in "real" light, I was completely distressed. My highlights make me look like I'm back in the 80's auditioning for a role on Dynasty. I left him a message that very night. He called me back the next day and offered to fix my hair. But when I went in for said fix on 2/4, it quickly became a no go. I asked him to color my hair to one solid color brown, forget these blond highlights that I never asked for (and in fact had specifically said I did not want). He said to get it all back to one color would require corrective color. However, he was not offering to do said corrective color, even though I only needed it to fix his handy work. So no, I would not be able to leave with hair that was all one color. He offered only a glaze, which from experience I know would wash off in a few weeks, not helpful. Then he started insulting me and telling me how bad my hair was when I came in, and how many different colors it was (not really true, and other stylists did not have trouble giving me the same color all over). At this point, I am crying and then he tells me he's not going to help me and he's going to give me my money back. He says he won't fix it because "he will never be able to make me happy"...true dat, if you can't restore my hair to what it looked like before you took it upon yourself to revisit the 80's, I will not be happy! You make the mess, you should be able to fix it! So that makes me an unreasonable customer? Not in my world. So instead of fixing it, he leaves me to find someone else to fix his mess instead. Which I can't do immediately, so I went to Walgreens on the way home to stock up on Gray Away...to help hide my hideous highlights!!! Thankfully my old stylist of 15 years was able to fix me the following week. Amazing how she made my hair all one color...something Nate was unable and/or unwilling to do! I'm sure his rebuttal to my review will be that he refunded my money in full, which is 100% accurate. He gave me my money for the services and gratuity, and offered to buy back my products that I was not happy with, if I bring them back in. Frankly, I don't really want to go back in to an establishment where the owner had me in tears, so that part I will probably not take advantage of, so that's on me...I guess. So in fairness, I did not ultimately pay for these services with money. But my hair certainly paid the price for our "miscommunication" as he kept calling it. The kicker of the evening was when I told him he was definitely getting a negative review on Yelp, if he was unwilling to fix my hair. Refunding my money was not a satisfactory outcome for me. He said (in a super snotty voice) "oh like you do with every salon you go to?" Okay, it's weird if you Yelp-stalk your customers. And as of that point in time, I had only reviewed one other salon that cut/colored my hair, so not even sure what he was talking about. Maybe if he spent some time figuring out how he could fix my hair to look like what I asked for, instead of stalking me on Yelp and fabricating fantasies of how I spend my days torturing salon owners everywhere with horrible reviews, we would have had a better outcome. Bottom line: let the photos speak for themselves. Do you want your hair to look like this when you request brown color and agree to a few "caramel colored" highlights? I certainly did not. read more

I never thought I'd be the type to have a "hair stylist"...being that I'd get my hair cut maybe twice a year and typically just a trim and basic layers. I started coming here in the fall as I decided on them for my wedding day due to location, price and personality of Nathaniel when we met. I'm so happy to have found Salon Nathaniel. My stylist there is Jenna. I first came to Jenna with a huge request... I wanted to be a dimensional blonde in only a few months. Doesn't sound too bad but I was a very dark red purple color. I loved the purple but I wanted to be blonde for my wedding. We went over in great detail about my hair history and my goal. There were some mid stages that weren't the most flattering in my eyes but I still got complements on how good my hair looked! She took such good care of me and my hair. My first visit was awesome it was friendly, professional,clean, the hairdresser I followed on instagram was very nice professional and explained everything she was doing step by step that's why I returned a second time. Only on my second visit to be treated like I wasn't wanted there. I was cashed out before they even finished my hair and the front desk receptionist had an attitude she not once looked up to speak to me just cashed me out. I personally have never stepped foot in this salon but it's close to my house so my son who doesnt have a vehicle, walks there while I'm working to get his hair cut/fade. I asked that he go here because he has very curly hair and when he goes to a barber shop, he always comes out with (if I can say) a ghetto fade. The 1st two times, his hair was right on and I loved it. After that, the same hairdresser started to slack off which ticked me off because she charges a whopping $39 for a fade!!!!!!!!!! My son is way too nice to tell her which is another story in itself (and its not his money he's using). Like I said, great job the first two times but she is starting to slack off since there's not an adult there with him to correct her so she's taking advantage of his age and kindness (he's in his late teens). Personally, I couldve done a better job and it literally looks like she spends 10 minutes on his hair!!! I believe her name is Raina and I was told the 1st time I made the appointment for him that she charges this because she is considered one of the more skilled top hairdressers. I wont be sending him there anymore. $39 is more than I have ever paid for a haircut and I'm at the salon (Ulta - The Salon) every other month for various things (cuts, colors, relaxers, smoothing treatments, makeup, etc). I will never step foot in this salon or care to. They charge steep prices for something I or Super Cuts can do. My color only lasted 8 days & you could clearly see it was 2 different colors right after it was done. My roots were more red and about 3 inches down you can see where it switches to brown. 3 weeks after I got it done I was told I could come in and get it fixed for free. Well I ended up not being able to make my appointment because of a family emergency.. so I asked to reschedule and I was told I could come in on 2/28, the day I was originally supposed to come back to get it recolored if I wished, but I would have to pay because "it's been so much time in between your last reservation".. which I understand and I get it, but either way, the time doesn't matter. It has already completely faded out..and I should add, I only washed my hair 1 time in those 8 days with the Redken shampoo and conditioner they sold me nonetheless. I paid $91 for the service, (which was half price...so if it were full price, I would have paid $182.. thank God it wasn't) a 20% tip, and like $20 on a shampoo and conditioner. So total it was like $136. I'm not made of money.. that was a lot for me and I feel like I completely wasted it when I could have used it for something useful like bills.. This is the first time I've ever gotten my hair professionally colored and it was just not a good experience. If I ever go anywhere again, it'll be First Impressions in Bristol, CT. Furthermore, when I called and spoke with Nathaniel, the owner, I was informed that the dye was demi-permanent.. well that was the first time I was told that. Never did I say I wanted that, and I was under the impression it was permanent.. I was also talked down to as if I was a child. He was making it out to sound like I didn't know how to formally deal with a complaint, when I do and I was never rude to anyone until I was told I would have to pay again. At that point, I made this review. He belittled me and told me "if I'm unhappy I should go to the owner or manager" obviously I know that. I went through my stylist, Audrey, because she was my friend and I thought she would help me fix it and I felt more comfortable dealing with her since she's the one who did it, so clearly she would have a better understanding of the situation than the owner. I was told there was nothing he could do for me and that I couldn't have a refund and then I was hung up on. Honestly I'm very upset by this whole ordeal. My feelings are very hurt and I feel as though I did nothing wrong. I drove 40 minutes to this salon, sat there for 3 hours, AND gave a 20% tip... I'm not made of money. That was a lot for me. I am not huge on getting my hair cut and I usually wait months until I think it's necessary. Well, I had a job interview a couple of weeks ago and although I had planned on getting my hair cut, I procrastinated and waited till the day before. I called and they didn't have any appointments, however I explained the situation and they were able to fit me in within the hour. I walked in and it looked very clean. I was greeted by Alyssa and another stylist. Alyssa did a great job with my hair and I looked better than I had in many years. Although I usually go several months without getting my hair done, I have to go to my sisters wedding next month in Los Angeles. I will go back to Alyssa a few days before I leave for the wedding. Although everything worked out well and I was happy, I was surprised to see it was very quiet when I was there. I was the only person there for about 30-45 minutes. read more

Possibly the worst haircut of my life...including numerous "barracks cuts!" I blame myself for not walking out when the cashier asked the stylist, "Do you know how to cut men's hair?" OMG, I should have left. Next tip off was when the stylist asked me, "Do you live around here?" I should have lied and said yes. Common for people to rip off people they won't see again. Next clue, when the stylist audibly said, "oops!" Sure enough, there was a nice big niche cut into my neckline at the point she said "oops," and she didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge it. The final indicator was that it took her less than 10 minutes to complete my haircut. She had my head pushed down through the entire cut so I couldn't see what she was doing to me. When she was "finished," and i looked up, horrified, I told her it looked choppy. I didn't know how else to explain it. it was totally uneven, with patches sticking out here and there. No style whatsoever. Her only reply was, 'We can cut into that if you want." What the hell does that mean? Then, they charged me $22! Now, I will have to spend another $16 to get it fixed. Unless you are like Stan here, and obviously have a regular stylist there that you regularly use, DO NOT GAMBLE with this place...especially if you are a guy. read more

SCAM ALERT! Beware of all the positive reviews here, this place will tell you they can do one thing and then not finish the job and still take your money. My hair charge was $200 in which was totally wasted because they refused to put balayge highlights near the front of my face like agreed upon for no extra charge. Now, i paid all that money, unsatisfied and went home with not a completed job for my birthday day. I had a consultation with alessandra and another girl (jessica lyn), who seemed nice but i was wondering why they did a double consult. Anyway, I asked nicely and even took extra time to make sure I would be receiving some highlights near my faceline for the price agreed upon. $200, on the day I got my service, they refused to highlight there, and told me that would be extra $50. I dont go to the carwash so they can charge me an extra $50 to wash the front of my car. This is a rip off and scam to be honest. The owner didnt even care about the situation.Even after I expressed that I mentioned this during the consultation and that $200 should be enough to get the completed look. Very sad and unfortunate that this company cares more about scamming you for your money, then seeig you walk happy out the door. Dont make the mistake I did! read more
