New location looks great, nice retail selection in the waiting area, self-read digital temperature check station to the left when you enter the doors. MC still provides the best haircuts around, and his new location looks great and is spacious and comfortable. There is classroom space in a room just off the main barbershop floor. I traveled in from Atlanta, Ga in need of a haircut. I saw this place on Yelp and said why not give it a try. It said reservations only but I had not made one. This place was clean and the haircut was awesome. They will do the cut you want so don't be afraid to tell them what you are looking for. This place does get busy so if you can call ahead I would. Place is definitely a hidden gem among barber shops. Found this on Yelp due to reviews on my way to the city during a weekend evening. Luckily, they allow drop-ins. They did have a decent crowd waiting, but that's probably a good problem to have for a place you've never tried before unless you're in a rush. I was paired with Courtney, and she was amazing. Knew exactly what I was looking for, no miscommunication whatsoever, and even pointed out a couple of things that could enhance my look and style (even gave me tips on my eyebrows). She was a pleasure to talk to, something that's somewhat of a lost art in barbers from my experience in the last few years at other barbers. Overall, great experience. It's a little out of my way locally, but worth adding to my must-stops on my frequent trips to and from the city going forward. Ask for Courtney - you won't regret it. One small piece of advice from a new client: give your barbers more freedom to connect with their clients and the ability to advertise their work, such as personalized business cards, publish professional-grade photos of the work being done, tagging through social media, etc. Doing so can really help boost your business, especially in social media which is essentially free marketing, by widening your outreach as well as further broaden your bandwidth and bond between your barbers and clients/potential clients. I can tell you as a customer that I tend to stick to businesses that 1. captures my attention in the first 2-4 seconds when I do a Yelp/Google/Foursquare search, 2. keeps me coming back by the excellence in service, and 3. my personal connection with the staff that works there. I was lucky to have found you by pure chance and desperation when I did a 10 mile search on what's opened that evening while on I-84. MC is by far the most skilled barber in the Hartford area! I moved away and still drive 1.5 hrs to get a cut from him. Went to this place for the first time base on yelp reviews and the owner appears to be talented based on all his trophies. I went as a walk in and this is what I walked out with. If you're going to try this place, I'd recommend make a reservation with the owner. Literally, a skin shave at the bottom going half way up the side of my head to a full head of hair. MC is a great barber, period. I hesitate to call him a barber given today's low standards - he is far more than a "barber". Without exaggeration, I have been to 10 or more CT barbers - it is quite apparent I NEVER had a real haircut.....unit I met MC. MC is as professional as they come, taking the time to learn about his clients and ensuring the customer is more than satisfied with the finished product. I have been going to MC's barber shop for over the past 2 years (once a month) and I can tell without a doubt, he is the best barber I have used in my 31 years in CT. MC takes pride in his craft and in doing so has worked very hard to be the best in the state. Not once have I had a bad haircut from this establishment. Also, I really like that MC takes appointments, mostly appointment only since he usually book two or three days out when I call. MC also runs his barbershop in a very professional manner, especially in regards to hygienic safety, all cutting materials are disinfected and new straight edge razors for each customer. Along with the hair cut, I always have a fun time hanging out at the barbershop while I am getting my haircut. Our hairdresser had retired, we all know what that's like if you really like them. So, I had seen an ad about MC Barber and decided to stop in this morning. When I walked in I asked the owner if he cut womens hair, he said not really but maybe one Barber would. Complete immaturity on MC behalf which is shocking due to the Personna of professionalism he puts off never been disrespected in front of my children the way I was today. He does not value or have any respect to any of his core customers no matter how much money you put into his barber shop, maybe it has to do with the reputation that his brand has built seemed to build some kind of arrogance. It's 2017 there is a new generation and a "new normal" not everyone believes in the same hairstyle my son is 3 years old and if you think making fun of a 3year old is "funny" or "cool" it's not and as a father I advise any parent especially the younger generation do not I repeat do not support this guy no matter of his skills he's been my barber for 2 years I have 3 boys who also go there and I always took care of him and his barbers if anyone goes there you know how expensive his prices are so in all aspects this barber shop is a no go in my book and I truly hope my experience today can be the voice of the reality of MC barber. read more
