Charm City Trivia - They're everywhere!

    Charm City Trivia

Look, I don't know how these folks aren't already listed in Yelp but allow me to introduce you to…read morethem. Charm City Trivia are the #1 most professional, entertaining, friendly, competitive, and respected trivia team in the area. While they're more focused toward the Baltimore area (duh) they do reach down into PG and Howard counties (see the map I included). I've been going to their location at Maple Lawn (Looney's) for about a month or so now and I can tell you that they're amazing. The questions range from the pretty easy ("What movie featured a car with the license plate, "OUTATIME"?) to the pretty difficult ("Name the three capitals of South Africa."). The questions show up on screens throughout the facility and the announcer is very easily heard without being obnoxious. [An added bonus is that the food at Looney's is pretty darn good!] The format is: 6 rounds of questions 3 questions per round 5 (I think) toss up questions (these are numerical questions where the closest to the answer wins) 1 final question (the only one where you can lose points) Each round has three different amounts you can assign to an answer (if you're positive of an answer you assign it the highest number). If you're wrong, you don't lose those points...except for the final question which you can wager up to 40 points. Big swings in team position can happen in the final question. I cannot encourage you strongly enough to try out a location that is hosting Charm City Trivia. Check their website and see the zillions of times and places that they're running a game. Trust me, you'll have a blast even if you come in last place like my team did last night.

I recently used Charm City Trivia for my daughters' bridal shower. What a great time. We wanted to…read moredo something out of the ordinary and this fit the bill. Even the people who I thought might not participate jumped right in. Julia, our host, was amazing- so much fun. Kira, who coordinated everything was wonderful to work with. This beer was a sleeper hit from a birthday grab bag I received back in February. After sitting in…read morethe beer fridge for a couple of months, I finally cracked it open at a recent poker night, and the quality was undeniable. Silent Wings is a Coffee Brown Ale from Honor Brewing out of Sterling, Virginia. As a veteran myself, I have a massive amount of respect for this veteran-owned local outfit. The brew is excellent--smooth and flavorful with a distinct coffee profile. While it was delicious in April, the flavor profile strikes me as a perfect fit for a fall or winter evening. I'll definitely be looking to stock up on this again once the weather cools down. I may never make it out to Sterling but will keep an eye out for the brew!

Our group hung out outside, where they have a large area with campfire pods, which was really nice since it was a little chilly that night. I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I appreciated that they had non-beer options on the menu along with non-alcoholic drinks as well. Emily did an awesome job taking care of our party, especially since we were a pretty large group celebrating a birthday. I'd definitely recommend getting the s'mores basket (it was a big hit with everyone). My mojito was pretty good too. One thing I'd mention is that it's probably better to order directly through your server or at the bar instead of using the QR code ordering system. We tried ordering drinks through the QR code and they never came out, even after waiting around 30 minutes. Thankfully, Emily saved the day and got everything sorted out for us.

Good old-school bar, Good food, Good people, Great music!…read more We love coming to The Morgan Inn for live music, especially rock and country. They have bands Thu-Sat, and jamming on Sun, and every other week it's open-mike on Wed! A few Saturdays ago, (Sep 2025), we got here at Morgan and Frederick just before the band started at 8 and lucked into one of the tables right up front. I'm guessing there's table seating for around 50, with around another 25 at the bar just to the side, and you can hear and see the band from there, too. There's a colorful fenced deck out back for another 40 or so, but the music might not reach. The wait staff is quick and attentive and friendly, and the drinks are strong. I got my usual jack and coke here, and we got a cranberry-vodka Cape Cod with a lime. They have all kinds of sandwiches, burgers, and salads, and we like the spinach salad because it's fresh with brightly flavored strawberries! Also sprinkled pecans and some crumbled feta cheese if you want. They are happy to adjust it as you like, so we say light on the feta plus a side of balsamic dressing :-). Zingy and tasty! I always always order something from their walleye-fish menu, on the wall by the bar if you dont see it in print. It's a light-flavored whitefish that's perfectly creamy and tender and bone-free, some of the best white fish there is! It's reminds me of whitefish i've had on the shores of the Chesapeake. I've had Morgan Inn's generous fried platter and generous sandwich, and this time we had dinner earlier so i saved room for their lightly-coated piping-hot crispy tender juicy six-or-so walleye bites. And another whiskey-coke from our fun waitress. We got a little blurry :-). We loved this evening's rowdy talented band, Noble Black (Karen, Dan, Gary, and Keith). Even though they play gigs all over the region, we hadn't heard this band before, and they really killed! Mostly hot classic rock, a few country classics, a few bluesy songs ones among those. They walked around with during the show with a live equalizer so there was good sound wherever we wandered! Each of the four musicians added some terrific licks of their own, and I dont know about you, but when the building starts to shake, we get up and dance! We gave their contact info to the place closest to where we live, hoping for an appearance there some time :-) A great evening of loud music, good food and drink, friendly staff, and good loud friendly folks :-) As always!

Our very first visit here and I was impressed by the quality of the food. The service was a bit…read moreslow but I am sure that was because they were super busy. They had a pretty good live band playing and it was not super loud in the place. Their menu is pretty extensive and several positive comments were made about the cream of crab soup as well as their fish special. Portions are large and tasty. They have a full bar, unable to serve pretty much anything you asked for. We will definitely be coming back
