Came here for the Steak frites! The place is pretty nice with you basically seating yourself but ordering with an employee in front of the kitchen. For steak frites there were different kinds of styles you could choose from. I ended up getting the one that puts a chimichurri sauce on it. That definitely elevated the flavor of the dish. Overall the food was good but it wasn't anything that completely blew me away. I did want to note that the employees were nice and helpful, even if you didn't interact with them too much. A solid spot overall. If I had friends who wanted to come back, I wouldn't be mad about it.

We got steak frites here and I loved it so much! For just $15, it felt super worth it. The Szechuan peppercorn sauce was just a tad peppery, I wish it was a little more on the spicy side, but it tasted great and went very well with the steak and the fries. We tried all three sauces and we agreed that the peppercorn sauce was the best. We went a Monday night so there was no line and ample seating.

We came here for the super viral Steak Easy pop up and it did not disappoint! There's a lot of reviews saying that the wait times are long but I don't think it was that bad. We arrived right at the opening time and there was a line, but it moved pretty quickly and we got our food in about 30 min. As for the food quality, these were some of the best steaks I've had in Seattle at this price point. $15 for 4 oz steak frites is a great deal, and they really load you up on the fries so you get full even with just a 4 oz steak. The steak is cooked perfectly edge to edge pink since it's sous vide. They get a nice sear on the outside so you still develop a good crust and deep flavor. It's super tender and I love the fat cap adding a beefier richness. The best sauce by far was the Sichuan Au Poivre. It was creamy, rich, and had a light citrusy peppercorn flavor. The highlight was this sauce with the fries. The sauce soaking into the beefy tallowy frites was amazing. My only complaint is I wish it had a stronger peppercorn flavor. I also liked the duck breast with the au Poivre sauce (maybe even more than the steak).

My review is for the steak frite pop up. It's way overhyped IMO. I was very excited to try this place so I was pretty disappointed when it was subpar. We came right when they open and was 14th in line. The guy took our orders and then we find a seat and wait for our food to come out. It still took about 10-15 minutes before food came out so it can be a wait for those that were still in line. The place filled up fast and it was busy and lively. I was actually very excited to try the duck, but they said there was no duck available at that time so I was already disappointed, even though it was on their updated menu.... We decided just to order the 8oz steak frites with chimichurri sauce. Presentation was good, but food was mediocre at best. The steak was chewy and tough, it was bland. The fries were fine, but nothing extraordinary. The sauce didn't do anything. My husband, usually doesn't like sauces had to use ketchup and mayo to "season" the dish... We ended up didn't finish and pack the rest for home and went down the block to get something else to eat. Maybe I came on an off day but it was not worth the 35 min drive.

This is a review of Steak Easy Yes we saw all the Instagram posts about this super cheap and yummy steak pop up and we had to investigate, and boy yes they were not kidding, it was yum, now again its not asadero or even traditional steak yum but the premise is cheap steak with flavorful sauces on a bed of tallow fried fries and it fulfilled all of that. I do believe that the steak might be sous vide (not sure but they also use the same technique in their other restaurant, so lets say its an educated guess) with that in mind the steak might have been just a tad over. We ordered the Sichuan Au Poivre 4oz & Chimichurri 8oz and they were delicious. An absolute yes I'd be going again if I could 1000%

Another culinary venture from the dynamic duo, JP & Boss. They are the brothers behind Secret Congee (Shilshoe), Ginger & Scallion (Stumbletown), and Okonomiyaki Jiban Ya (Northlake). This is a pop up hosted at Janet's Stumbletown, a stone's throw from Ginger & Scallion. This is for an initial two month residency Wednesdays to Sundays 11am to 3pm. First, pack your patience finding street parking in this busy retail & residential area on NW 65th. I was eventually able to find a 2 hour slot nearby. I was the first customer in the door for the soft opening. It was great to see both Janet (owner of both Stumbletown and Chocolat Vitale) and Boss onsite. Orders and payment are placed at the register. Good to see JP and his team also at the kitchen line. Various seating at Stumbletown: bar & counter seating, booths, and as one to three tops flanked with a banquette. Pleasant interior with natural light and a decent soundtrack overhead. I ordered the Caesar salad and the House 8oz sirloin cap steak with mushroom bordelaise. I stuck with water, but other beverages can be ordered separately from the Stumbletown bar. The fries/frites are cooked in beef tallow. The sirloin is prepared with a garlic butter thyme baste. The menu has both 4oz or 8oz steaks and three sauces to choose from. I enjoyed the Caesar salad. The butter lettuce was well dressed with accompanying parmesan cheese shavings and tiny croutons. The frites were topped with the steak slices, thinly sliced mushrooms in the red wine sauce, and garnished with finely minced shallots and chives. As my first meal of the day "brunch", overall this was nicely presented and prepared. Packed full of flavor and left satisfied but not stuffed. Just right and completed in about 45 minutes. Doable if one has to get back to work. Might want to get coffee after to stave off any potential food coma, lol. I'd rate this 4.5, rounded to a 5. Great dining choice with earlier hours that's easier on the wallet in today's economy.

Stumbletown! What an amazing food spot! This is the same brothers that own 3 different restaurants and each one of them is truly delicious! For this one it's called a "pop-up" and if you look on social media you see them everywhere. This restaurant is known for their streak frites. You can have a 4oz or 8oz sized steak or duck breast and can either pick mushroom sauce, a peppercorn or Chimichurri. We asked for steak with mushroom sauce and duck breast with peppercorn however they were out of duck. So we both got steak one with mushroom and one with peppercorn! We also tried their lavender lemonade which was also delicious and perfect on a hot summer day. This restaurant is so good that they serve till they run out. They don't even ask how you want your steak and it comes out perfectly! This is a highly recommended restaurant. I can't wait to go back!

The steak was fine - honestly nothing special. The beef tallow fries were greasy and there was oil just leftover on our plate. The fries had a texture of dicks burgers so if you're not into that, I'm not sure you would enjoy it. The overall steak and duck kind of just taste like your friend who's average at cooking said they would make steak fries for you- but for $25 (for 8oz) it's not the worst deal in Seattle. The service is what made this whole experience fairly subpar. You have to stand in the middle of the service line to order- there's not enough turnover because it takes them 45 min per party to make and serve your order. So you're just stuck standing in their service line. Cutlery is hard to get- we shared one steak knife amongst 4 people. Water was also a scarce resource. Overall it's a lot of hype without any kind of service to support said hype.

Simple and delicious! Love that the steak is grass fed and the fries are cooked in tallow. Can't beat the price either! Will be back for sure.

Services and vibes were good. Food, not so much. I was surprised how cold the meat came out and fries looked like they sat out with no crunch left to them. Gosh did the food look good when it came out though but not warm or tender, especially for sous vide prepared meat. Insanely chewy still. Not sure what happened if they waited for all 3 to be done and forgot before bringing them out or why it was cold... not even the sauce was hot... At least make the sauce hot or let the fries really fry to give the meal some freshness, heat, and crunch. Chimichurri had no flavor to it at all besides the oil, sichuan sauce.... No saltiness, boldness or spice? Very disappointed about this meal. Would not recommend if you're looking for good flavors and quality meal, especially true foodies from california or New York.

8 ounce steak and chimichurri and a 4 ounce steak with mushrooms and another 4 ounce chimichurri.

After seeing the Steak Easy Instagram post we decided to try. Very nice easy going vibe. Music was great and I felt comfortable in shorts and a golf shirt. We came at a chaotic hour but were lucky enough to get a table. Ordered a couple of glasses of wine and two different steaks and frites. Staff worked hard to serve everyone. This is definitely a bar with a lounge vibe and not a restaurant but the steak and chimichurri is very good!! Steak was cooked perfectly and the chimichurri is perfection! Mushroom gravy was delicious but we did not have a lot of mushrooms. 8 ounce steak is $25 and 4 ounce is $15! That's it-no decisions or demanding requests-eat and enjoy!

Came to check out the hype....was not sad! Listen, steak frites $15 for 5 ounce, $25 for 8 ounce! WOW! Is it the very best I have ever had? No. Was it fantastic, a fantastic value, super tasty, great energy, great concept? All 100% yes! Bonus points, the bartender Jake was SLAYING it! This is really a great vibe and worth giving your money to! I felt a bit like I got over and was absolutely satisfied! Walk in, place your order, (they only do one thing) get it and love it!

Beef with Sichuan sauce

Holy moly.... I've literally been dreaming of this place. Last time I've gotten steak frites it was divine but just so... small..... and for an exorbitant price. So imagine my reaction when they announced this new concept!! We ordered the duck with the mushroom sauce and the large steak with sichuan sauce. The fries are heavenly with it being fried with beef tallow....... The beef was so tender and the ducks as juicy and not gamey at all. The sauces paired with any combination so so well, though I did favor the mushroom sauce the most as the Sichuan flavor was too mild. Both were very delicious and I was very satisfied! I can't wait to try the chimichurri next and good luck on their next endeavors!

We ordered munchies and drinks while we waited for our table at Delancey. The bartender / server knew we would be headed to Delancey in 40 minutes or so, and handled things well accordingly. We got a plate of olives (tasty, great finger food) and drinks. The Yonder cider was good, not too sweet. The Martini was tasty. I had two quibbles: The first was with the pricing: the martini was charged as two separate items: 1) gin (I suppose the charge varies by the kind of gin or vodka in your martini) 2) martini (which is apparently the non-vodka or or non-gin part of your drink) While I'm sure this makes it easier to track for the bartender and inventory, as well as for charging, as a customer, it's a little odd to have a mixed drink be a two-part charge. The second was the included 20% automatic gratuity. I don't object to the concept of a standard service charge, I just wish it had been more prominently displayed so that I wouldn't have added a 20% tip on top of that (and my tip was on the amount that included tax, service charge and drinks / food). So, buyer beware ... the service is good, the ambiance is nice, the food and drinks are good -- but the payment / billing is non-standard, and can cause unexpected surprises.

I am showing my age by saying the restaurant is VERY LOUD, and our table was in a very dark spot in the restaurant. Oddly, they didn't have enough table lamps for all the dark tables. Our server said they "ran out". How does that happen? I stalked a departing table to take their rechargeable lamp. Anyway, my expectations were likely too high going in, and I was annoyed before even ordering, turning on our cellphone light to read the menu. The food is pretty good, though not mind-blowing good like the reviews suggest, and we had one bad dish. They offer varied Khmer dishes beyond noodle varieties, which is a plus. Go if you are looking for variety, skip the fish, bring ear plugs, and hope you have a brighter table than ours. Parking is street only. 3 Stars for the food, minus 1 star for the restaurant environment (unrelated to staff) The Food: k'tiss dip with crudités, $18 - 4 Stars We chose the marrow stone blue oyster mushroom option - p'set. The mushrooms are sautéed in Khmer seasonings, fermented bean curd, and coconut milk. The veggies are mildly pickled. They paired surprisingly well and a unique dish to try. kroeung kumeraage, $15 - 4 Stars This dish has an option of fried chicken or fried mushrooms. We chose the chicken since we already had mushrooms. Kroeung is the Khmer seasoning. Our server said this dish and papaya salad are amongst the most popular. Since we have a veggie dish, we chose this over the papaya salad (which looks great, too). The chicken is lightly fried, not crispy outside, super tender, and paired well with the kroeung aioli. trei chmouy tuk tei omperi, $40 - 1 Star The menu says serves 2 but not really. The is a pan seared fish, make your own fish wrap. We did not know we ordered a DIY dish, which is ok in principle, just not good to be surprised. The menu doesn't say so; the server didn't mention it. Luckily, by this time of the meal, we have acquired the little table lamp, which enabled me to see the long fish bones that had not been removed. FIVE of them. The noodles are a pathetic overcooked limp pile. The best part is the turmeric sauce. Do not order this dish. Epilogue: I happened to walk by Sophon this past weekend. I was surprised to see a sign saying they are temporarily closed to resolve internal issues. (See photo) That is never a good reflection of management. There is now a GoFundMe for the unpaid staff who had to quit their jobs.
