Run, don't walk...away from STUDS. It is 2025 and customer service should not be that hard to deliver, alas, I've been proven wrong. Is studs convenient? Yes. Besides the fact that my piercer was nice and it was easy to get an appointment, the rest of my experience left a lot to be desired. I am going to include all the details here so that when Annalisa comments and asks me to reach out to share more details we can all know that this is a canned response and they truly don't care about their customers. Day of piercing. They were a bit behind. No worries. I chose my jewelry and was get my flat helix pierced. The piercer marked the spot, though she didn't use a light or anything to check for blood vessels. I'm not a piercer, so maybe not all piercings require that. Honestly the initial experience was more or less fine. It was about one month later that my piercing got knocked out of my ear in the shower. I was flabbergasted because I have several other ear piercings and it is actually impossible to remove them. I literally had to sign a waiver for an MRI bc I couldn't get them out. Studs jewelry, on the other hand, is cheap cheap cheap despite the unnecessarily high pricetag. I was fortunate to find both pieces of the earring when it fell out and I attempted to get it back in. My ear was swollen and then grew much more swollen through my attempts to get it back in. I figured I was causing harm so I decided to stop and go back in. I called to see if I could pop in before I left for vacation the next day. They don't have a phone in their studios. Like what? I figured I had no other choice but to go in and quickly ask someone who does this all day long to quickly pop it back in. When I walked in and shared the story at the desk, you would think I was asking them to perform a root canal. The receptionist seemed outraged that I would make such a request 15 minutes before closing when there is still one appointment left for the day. I let her know that I'd be happy to wait. I was told they have to close. Like duh, I understand, but this will take like three seconds. My entire piercing appt was 3 minutes. Like y'all, we can make this happen. Like I mentioned, I was going on vacation and I didn't want my brand new piercing that cost like $80 to close up. I thought they wouldn't want it either. A good piercing out of that studio is a walking billboard. The receptionist agreed to ask the piercer. A lady comes down with a horrible attitude, does not introduce herself and tells me why it is not possible for them to put my earring in. I asked how long it would take. She informed me a couple of seconds. She spoke to me in such a condescending way using phrases like, "what I am trying to explain to you is...," "what you don't understand is...," "if you would just let me finish..." She also told me that they work 8 hours and have to come back the next day to do the same thing as if they are the only people in the world with a job. I literally have never spoken to a customer about my work schedule as an excuse to not be kind and accommodating. Now I thought I was talking to the piercer. I said how about we get this in my ear instead of yapping about it. Turns out it was the manager, Sasha. I was being spoken down to by the manager. Customer service 101 is listening and she was unable to listen, she spoke over me time and time again using sarcasm which I did not appreciate. I get really anxious in this type of situation and my eyes welled up and she told me, "to stop crying. There is no reason to be crying." Anyone who is highly sensitive knows that makes it way worse. The manager should not be saying that to a customer. She eventually went to ask the piercer if it was possible. Upon her return she asked me to sign a waiver (like for what plus I already signed it for this exact hole) and then tried to charge me a $15 jewelry change fee. I was outraged. This should have been a courtesy given the horrible quality of the jewelry. If your jewelry falls out in the shower, that is a quality issue. While I was waiting for the manager to speak to the piercer, the receptionist gave me a tip for getting it back in myself. Bro, if we started there, this would have never gotten blown out of proportion. So all that said, I will only be going to a real piercer from now on. The quality of jewelry is better. I've had more healing issues here than any of my other piercings. Oh and they tend to be legitimately nice in real piercings studio. Just don't bother. Even if the initial appt seems fine, there are long term repercussions for getting pierced there. read more

Piercers are always great here & super professional. All my earrings have healed nicely, I've gotten pierced by studs 10+ times. However, the front desk people at this location are always SO rude. I gave a student ID for a discount, and they proceeded to trash my school. Then, started listing off other Boston colleges & making fun of the people who go there. Excuse me? At least we aren't working a full time gig at the worst establishment on Newbury. Get a life, ladies. I have never had a good experience with the employees at the front. read more

Came here to get a helix piercing due to their convenient location and I was really impressed with the service and staff! I have tried different piercing venues and in comparison, I can say that I loved interacting with my piercer here and appreciated her thoughts on placement and jewelry type. I felt comfortable and didn't wait too long to get started after arriving for my appointment. Although it's on the pricier side, I would recommend this experience if you are getting your first piercing since I felt very accommodated and heard here. I've been buying Studs earrings online for a while now (they're some of my go-to everyday pieces) but I recently had my first piercing done with them. Overall it was a great experience! The Newbury street store is in a prime location, and has an earring display in the front for regular shopping and another counter in the back for all things piercing. I arrived just before my appointment time and was checked in right away--I would definitely make an appointment in advance, they do technically take walk ins but I've heard they're always too busy to actually accept those. I completed a quick waiver, selected my piercing jewelry, and headed into one of the private rooms for the actual piercing. My piercer, Jess, was so nice and knowledgable. She gave me lots of great tips, made sure I was comfortable, and had me in and out in record time when she realized I didn't need much hand holding. I've had cartilage piercings done before, and I think this is the least painful one I've had. My overall experience was 5/5, the only reason I have to knock Studs down a star is because of their prices. While the piercing fee and recommended tip are pretty standard, the earrings you have to choose from are mad expensive. If you want yellow gold, they start at $80 and go up to $130+ for a single earring. You're definitely paying for the brand name and the chic store front, rather than the services themselves. I'd still come here again for the convenience, and to shop all their regular earrings, but if you're looking for affordable ear piercing, I might do a little comparison shopping. read more

Compared to other piercing places in Boston, STUDS is actually pretty affordable if you get pierced during the weekdays ($15 promo) and if you choose the lowest priced titanium jewelry. My piercer Jaden was very quick with my second lobes and helped minimize pain! She was also very kind and friendly. Everything (needle, earrings, etc.) came in sterilized packages so I felt secure that I wouldn't have infected ears. The main issue that everyone has been noting is customer service at the front desk. Unfortunately, this is still an issue. The girls at the front act like you are bothering them and don't welcome you in at all, continuing their conversation as if you weren't a paying customer. Super unprofessional and honestly rude. Management may not seem to care at this point, since it's an ongoing issue from at least two years. Also, the piercing promo that was applied online when I booked was not applied in-store, and I didn't realize because they don't let you see what you're paying for on the little iPad they have. Just be sure to ask a lot of questions for your benefit and ignore any rudeness from the front staff! :) read more

The service quality was a bit inconsistent. With some of the people you get the biggest smiles and nicest tones, but with the others... it kinda felt intimidating, especially if this will be your first piercing. The piercing process was great. Very minor pain, and very detailed explanation. One thing that I really don't appreciate though, is that the front desk lying to me about the piercing aftercare is cheaper to purchase in the store. I looked it up afterwards on Amazon and it's much cheaper there. I would've gotten the same amount (two bottles) if you would have told me honestly - that it's a bit pricier, but it's more convenient since it's travel size. The service people are not chill at all. Rude, unprofessional workers who don't make you feel welcome. The actual piercer was incredible, but please hire better employees. The employees would tell us to sit somewhere, and then someone else would tell us to get up. I came here to get jewelry switched out for my forward helix a few months ago. The person who switched my earring out was very nice, however they did not put the correct bar length in, and my ear remained swollen and painful until 3 months later I switched the jewelry out myself, and after 1 day the piercing had no swelling or pain. I went in for a cartilage and a constellation on my earlobe. I have eight other ear piercings already, including three earlobe ones on each ear. Studs definitley has its process doen. The piercing staff were friendly and professional. As an older client i was afraid id feel out of place (i could be the mother of any of the staff!) but they made me feel very at home. The process was very well managed with very little pain. The piercing room seemed clean and wrll managed. There were clear instructions for aftercare and i appreciate that they offer follow ups and send reminder messages.
