I have been meaning to post this for awhile now ....My grandson wanted his nose pierced for his 16th birthday My daughter and I were playing with the idea as well so it became a family affair .... Body Extremes is one of the very few places in the city that offers this type of piercing using a hoop rather than a stud and they were highly recommended to me by others who have had this procedure. We had a difficult time getting in the first time They offer an open session on Saturday afternoons from 300pm - 530pm...if there's more than 1 in your group make sure you arrive early..You will be very entertained while you wait. Among the many displays of jewelry , crystals and other cool items Is a fabulous "menagerie of macabre"unique and interesting pieces which appear to be a personal collection of the owners' treasures acquired over the many years of his interesting career I'm not sure if everything is for sale ...I had my eye on the Lego serial killers collection I never knew such a thing existed and there are actually 2 editions.. Of course they have both The staff is very helpful and friendly The owners brother was handling the front desk that day.He was very personable and friendly and seemed happy to share some of the business history with me it's evident that the family is very close and Mick's ( the owner ) passion for tattoos and piercings has become an amazing family business We had such a great experience with our piercer Nichole she was so friendly and down to earth . We were all chatting in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere felt like we had known each other for ever. it made the time pass quickly and took the nerves away ...Everything was explained in detail and Nichole performed the procedure quickly and effortlessly . It was definitely not painless which was completely expected , but the pain was minimal and over almost instantly. Nichole did an amazing job she kept the three of us contained entertained and very relaxed . It was a really amazing afternoon... Great service. Walked in, after finding parking off of Hancock, they told me they were busy and asked me to come back at 5 which I did. Really nice guys, Will did I my work... I'm a Navy veteran, and I got my ship's name out in and a III% Cost was reasonable. For three little tattoos. Work was good... no complaints whatsoever. Nice waiting area. UPDATE**** Okay...I soo hate to have to downgrade my rating to a 1 star because my experience was awesome but the events following my piercing wasn't so pleasant. Being inexperienced with piercings I had no idea that it was not okay to be pierced by the nose ring. Yes. I was NOT pierced with a straight needle but by the actual nose ring. When I tell this to people they look at me like I'm insane. And I believe because of this the following ensued: Weeks following my nose piercing it was still very tender. (I did have to go back once because the spiral ring had came out and it was replaced by a straight one but because it was short the back would partially close every now and again) About a month later a huge bump appeared next to my nose ring and when I squeezed it puss would ooze out. The bump would go down for a couple days but would swell right back up no matter how many times I cleaned it. This went on for a full year. I was so terrified to get it pierced again..by any means I was determined to keep it open..even if it meant I had to deal with the bump and icky puss. But around July of this year I had enough and decided to just let the damn thing close. I will just say go at your own risk. read more

Like Ansia, I saw all the one star reviews and was very hesitant about coming here. However, after stepping into the shop, I had realized I was in the right place. The shop has SO much character. Definitely the most interesting store/piercing/tattoo place I have ever been to. People at the front, Douglas and Allen were extremely friendly and helpful. I knew exactly what to expect in terms of pricing, which is on the website (and very reasonable). THEY ACCEPT CARD, which is a plus. A decent selection of beginners jewelry. In terms of jewelry selection itself, I'm not sure if this is the place to get fancy jewelry replacements and stuff of the like, but they have stuff that serves its purpose and have some interesting picks that are worth taking a look at. Piercing went extremely easy and quick. All materials and tools were clean and prepackaged. The room was clean and organized. I mean the piercer, Mik, worked on the regulations for body piercings in Mass -- he knows what he's doing. Care directions were handed to me at the front desk before I even got pierced and are extremely clear. Mik was patient and willing to work with me on the placement of my piercing. I initially disagreed with the initial placement and wanted it at a different position, but ultimately agreed with Mik's initial placement because he gave me his honest opinion about how certain placements do not work for the piercing -- THANK YOU, I would not want a piercing that would inconvenience me later or that I would not love. I've been to several piercing places prior to this visit, but this is the only one so far that I felt totally welcomed and comfortable. Not even a second thought about the piercing or the shop. If you are considering getting a piercing here, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. It is SUCH an experience. read more

I went here in October to get my rook pierced. The staff were friendly to me but immediately after they pierced me, I noticed something was off. The method was not very sanitary, and they did not have any jewelry options. I was expecting a barbell, not a hoop. First of all, they didn't even close the hoop. It ended up being a curved oval. Second of all, they pierced me in the wrong place. I went to another piercing studio to replace the hoop with something that actually looked nice and they told me they had completely missed the rook and that it would never heal because of how they pierced it. I had to take it out immediately and there will be a scar there forever. I won't bother going back for a refund because they don't give them. Please don't waste your time here and go to a more professional place. read more

This establishment won't accept LEGAL forms of identification from customers who don't have their driver's license or travel! I don't drive or have a passport BUT do have a MASSACHUSETTS STATE issued ID and cannot take my 16 y/o daughter for her birthday gift! I called the Quincy Board of Health to even verify with them that the MA State ID is a legal form of identification and they verified and called me back and said YES it absolutely is. Not everyone drives and that is the alternative form of identification in MA. You have ruined my daughter's birthday and your reasoning which there was none is ridiculous! Get your facts straight and don't penalize people that can't drive or don't travel. read more

I got a piercing here. They used an old fashion method no longer recommended, which was way more painful. It turns out they pierced me in the wrong spot, too. My piercing looked so bad I cried and cried for weeks after. I'm not kidding. I thought the shop itself was very interesting and cool, but they would not refund me for the piercing and I am not interested in letting them repierce me with the methods they use. They have you pay and sign before the piercing, so I even ended up giving them a decent tip. I would not recommend getting any piercings here. read more

Ugh I hate this place. Besides the fact that I want to vomit every time I see their dead snake case... they're really not all that nice. Mik is a nice guy to a point but i have also heard him say to someone right in front of me that he knows two ways to pierce a belly button.... one that it hurts and one that it doesn't. He then said that he purposely pierces "teeny boppers" the way that it hurts. My specific bad experience is that I went in to buy a smaller nose ring and they told me that they cant sell me a 20 gauge hoop for my nose so I was like well how bout an 18 gauge? The piercer then proceeded to shove a blunt taper through my nose which hurt more than the actual piercing and he was laughing at me when I cried from it. Gee.. thanks. This is where I went for my VERY FIRST tattoo EVER on yesterday. My partner has 15 tattoos, and several were done here. She HIGHLY recommended the shop, and suggested that I not go anywhere else. They do LOTS of body PIERCING work here, and there are a couple of piercers working in the shop, as opposed to only one tattoo artist (see details further down). We stopped in the previous afternoon around 3:30p, but the artist was busy and not taking anymore people for the day (they close at 8p). This is a problem- there is only ONE tattoo-ist. Again, they LOSE a star on this. Only one artist guarantees a LONG WAIT. There's a tv, but YOU can't change the channel, and there is no eating in the shop (not even a bag of chips, juice, or soda). I would think that if someone were prepping for a service that "could" cause side effects (dizziness, light headedness), you'd allow them to get a little juice or something light on their stomachs while waiting. Anyway, I digress. The owner, Mik, is a very interesting individual. He's an older, odd guy, who has a unique sense of humor that some may find offensive, but I found him to be engaging, funny, and genuine. He's got GREAT stories, was very pleasant and genuinely friendly (I hate that fake, business-friendly thing some people engage in). Showed up earlier on yesterday, had a lengthy wait, but got the tattoo done. It's GREAT! I love it. It came out much better than expected. YES, GETTING IT HURT horribly. Okay, now that we have that out of the way...(lol!) I don't like the surroundings in the front of the shop. All sorts of dead fake animals in glass cases, skulls and bones everywhere, and a VERY boring selection of "in-house" tats. Now, the back of the shop where the work is done is SPOTLESS. Everything is clean, smells good, and EVERYTHING is sanitized. I was quite impressed. QUITE. The artist, PJ, is from New Orleans, and is an EXCELLENT tattoo-ist. He was incredibly patient with me, answering all of my first timer questions, explaining to me what would probably work or not work on my skin, etc. When we discovered that I couldn't get the piece I went in to get, I was VERY disappointed, and slightly angry. He didn't lose his cool, he stayed with me, patiently, and put something together for me that I LOVE. He was genuinely friendly, again- not that fake "let's talk about the weather since we're stuck in this personal space for awhile" kind of friendly either. He's a GOOD guy, and gave me advice and tips from his personal experience that he didn't have to share- things not on the "how to care for your tatt" sheet. He made my FIRST tattoo experience a very, very positive one. If (when) I get another one, I'm going back to Body Xtremes. I have complete confidence in this establishment. HIGHLY recommended to ALL. Just be prepared to wait (ugh). read more

BEWARE OF NIPPLE PIERCINGS. I went in for a nipple piercing. Everyone was really nice and I felt comfortable, but quickly after the piercing I realized it looked off. The next day I had it looked at by a different piercer. I was told a few things. First, it is out of date to pierce with a ring- instead of a barbell. I was told I couldn't get a barbell, even though I asked. The second piercer told me that barbells are the new standard because bras push down the ring and make it harder for the piercing to heal. Additionally, I was originally told to rotate the ring which is not good for piercings which actually need to be left alone and not irritated. They also pierced me unevenly, too low, and on my areola. Thankfully I got the piercing out within 24 hours and can therefor get it repierced next week. Point is, take your nipples somewhere else. I suggest Chameleon in Harvard Square. read more

I went for a tattoo. I came in early in the morning just to talk to someone about doing a tattoo over scar tissue. They took the time to look at my wrist and assure me it would not be a problem. I was so amped I came back in later in the day. They were busy and I had to wait awhile, but everyone was really friendly and the time flew by. The owner Mik also has a great collection of oddities to occupy you while you wait. The artist was great, I only wanted a small piece of Hebrew work done and it only took him 20 minutes. I plan to go back there for any future tattoos, and my spouse will be going there when he gets a tattoo. read more

I just had the most amazing experience at Body Xtremes. Yes, they have a lot of stuff on the walls. It's not gross, mostly it's fascinating. Nothing more than you'd find in a Ripley's believe it or not. I did not find anyone rude there, in fact, I found most of the artists very friendly and easy to talk to! I worked with Jason, who is an amazing artist. He worked to make my drawing perfect before we agreed and found a time to come in. He's awesome to talk to and the entire 5 hours I was in the chair, we kept laughing. Now yes, it is CASH ONLY for tattoos. This is actually quite a common practice. I had an OK experience here. The staff was really nice. I went in for two piercings. I wanted to redo my daith that had fallen out and get a snug piercing. The piercer did not know what a snug piercing was so I settled for a conch. I asked for my daith in my right ear and he piercrd the wrong ear. Now I have the daith pierced in my left here. One brother told him he did the wrong ear. The other brother responded "I didn't read your shit" in regard to the paper specifying what I asked for. They offered me no refund. All they could offer was taking it out and piercing again in the other ear. Ouch! I will not be returning to body extremes. The fact that you don't know snug and conch are different piercings, can't put a hold in the ear specified, and act unprofessionally with your brother makes this a business to steer clear of. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to a real tattoo parlor. This is probably THE most unproffesional shop I have ever gone into. Not only was I completely ignored, when I was acknowleged the staff was rude and condescending. I'm pretty sure the only reason they are still in business is because of their location- anyone who does ANY research at all will find that alot of shops end up fixing the work that gets done here. I got my first tattoo AND first piercing here...about 8 years ago and they were Fantastic! My husband got a big tattoo here about 5-6 years ago and again it was great (which is why i'm giving them 2 stars) because I went back again to get yet another tattoo and the new tattoo artist who had been doing tattoos for over 15 years refused to give me the tattoo that I wanted. I said he would NOT give me a tattoo unless it has a black border around it, not just color, AND would not do it over the scar. After he told me his point of view and worries, it should have been MY decision,and not his, if I still wanted to go ahead with it. Isn't this all about being my body, my choice, I'm not going to have some punk decide for me. Thanks, I got it done at a neighboring tattoo place in Quincy and it looks great! read more

Piercings have come out crooked. I have seen very cartoon looking tattoos and a lot of it is very pricey because of their location on Hancock Street in Quincy. I recommend traveling out to Allston or a little bit further to New Hampshire to find a better trained tattoo artist. read more

Got my nose pierced here and it was a great experience! Their after care instructions were very good and my nose never got infected and it healed perfectly! I don't understand all these bad reviews. My first tattoo ever was suppose to be done here. For starters of course I was nervous as heck and the tattoo artist did not make me any more comfortable. He treated me as if I was wasting his time and couldn't be bothered. He picked my custom designed tattoo apart and practically made it "his" own to the point it was no longer MY design. Yet still I was dumb enough to want to go through with it and proceeded to wait while he "finished up a quick sleeve". I waited near 7 hours hearing nothing. I finally had enough and approached him when he took his cigarette break. Then he remembered me and goes "Oh sorry, you may have to reschedule" UMM, NO THANKS! Please do not go here they are so unprofessional it is crazy they are still open for business. They have no clue how to pierce..like many others that have gone here, piercing your septum here is asking for a total mess!! We went to several other shops and were told that this was the worst piercing job they have seen, and how if the piercing wasn't taken out serious problems would be inevitable. When asked for money back they try and intimidate customers and refuse to refund money while blaming everyone but themselves. Ask other skilled reputable shops about this place and they will say stay away. If you decide to still go here after reading the reviews on this place, just get a tetanus shot before. Last week I had to stop in because I needed help getting the ball off of one of my lip rings. It was going to be $5 and I only had my debit card but they had a $20 minimum. I literally only had $7 in my account so I couldn't even go to an ATM. The guys at the shop took the piercing out for free and were SO NICE. My original piercing wasn't even done there! Was very hopeful going into this place after having family members get tattoos done here, and raving about their experiences. Went in wanting to get another ear piecing done. I have a few and learned my lesson going to places at the mall to do it after having a horrible infection, and after doing some research decided that this was going to be a good place to go. Walked in and wasn't even greeted. Had to walk around to find the man who was there working, once I finally did I asked him if he could do another piercing for me. He clearly seemed annoyed as I was interrupting whatever he was watching on his phone. Based off of the five earrings I already had in he immediately asked if all I wanted was a stud earring. When I replied yes he quickly told me that they don't do those, hoops only. I heard him out even though this statement seemed odd considering you get your ears pierced with a needle, but since they are the experts it was fine. I would have left it at that but he had to add that I'm better off going to a place that uses a gun like the ones at the mall for a stud piercing. Funny considering their website mentions how it is "unlawful to pierce someone's ears using a gun." To me, it just seemed as though this man just couldn't be bothered by something as simple as an ear piercing. Something that was extremely disappointing because I was trying this place out in hopes to be able to ask them to do my tattoo. I'm just hoping that by somebody seeing this they won't go in there looking for what I did and end up wasting their only day off like I did. read more

This place is walk in only...which at first I was skeptical about..but I researched every possible thing about this place and went in. I am so glad I did. I got my last tattoo in Cambridge and the two before that out of state. So I was looking for a clean respectable place with great artists. Jason "J-foo" was great. Very friendly and welcoming. I told him what I was looking for and he took the time to draw it out to my liking and size it out. Then he was extremely patient while I made him move the stencil multiple times ( hey I have to be picky). He worked quick but not rushed. Had some great tunes playing too which relaxed me as well. His attention to detail and the shading really made my tattoo stand out from every other one that it could have been generic. I LOVE MY TATTOO!!! Reasonably priced for the quality of the artistry. horrible. I got my septum pierced for the second time. 1.) very very very rude people. 2.) Completley messed up my septum (way too low , they pierced it through the cartilage. 3.) my nose had been bleeding for 3 hours after they pierced it 4.) they knew they pierced it wrong so rushed me out with no healing instructions or recipt. 5.) later that day I went to stingray tattoo in Allston with my friend to get her traugus done. the piercer said my septum was the worst pierced septum he's ever seen in his life. he said go back and get your Money back. ( the first time I got it pierced there was no blood no pain and no swelling, so what this helll did he do to my face,!?) so I continue to go back to body extremes to get it removed and my money back. The second I walk in Mik comes up and screams in my face saying "why do you want it out " then says "get the thing out of her face" to his apprentice. ( I am 17 years old, who goes two inches from a 17 year olds face screaming at them ?! They finally take it out and say I wont be getting my money back. I walk out with a fucked up nose and 45 dollars lost All i have to say is don't waste your time, and money and definitely don't risk getting fucked up! read more

This place is awesome !!! The staff are very helpful and the place is just fun to be in. I recently got a piercing here and the owner is the on who did it and he did such a great job. I have a few piercings all over my body and I have gotten each one at a different shop, however I really enjoyed coming to this shop. I do not know why someone said it was unprofessional, tattoo parlors I meant to be fun and creative. They are supposed to have fun and chill out. What do you look like going to a place like this and the staff being all business like and serious? You want to build a relationship with the artist and I think this is the bests place to do so.
