I found the rave reviews and checked out BRAG when I was first picking out an engagement ring for my wife. I didn't want to go online or to a big box store for a luxury item like this. I wanted a real person I could work with to get something done just right while helping me through the process. Best decision ever! They custom-made a beautiful platinum ring with a cool twisting band that my wife adores. We came back for our wedding rings a few months later and they continued to exceed our expectations! But for people like me, who really dive in and do their research for something like this, you start to ask yourself questions around "what is fair and reasonable pricing for all those variables they call the '4 C's'? And should I go with recognizable brands such as that "blue box company" that has been in the diamond business for over a century? (Answer to the latter: no. Their ad spend and marketing/branding ploy results in higher margins. You're essentially paying for the pretty blue box." I spent a good solid 2-3 months to scope the industry out- reading reviews, visiting jewelers, learning more than I ever need to about diamonds and why the heck they're so expensive (thanks a lot De Beers...). Only one place had me going back to visit more than once- that was BRAG. Not only was the staff friendly and well-versed in the industry, but their custom made-in-house design settings were stunning. On top of that, they've got a great range and selection of diamonds that have all the information you need as to where/when they were purchased and their original source. One of the biggest reasons I went with them (besides the quality of their rocks and selection of settings) is because they truly are prioritizing the customer experience. I can definitely say that they're not in the business to sell a product or service to you. In fact, they have no need to be sales-y. Every time I go, they're always busy. And I would argue that Sevag works way too much already!! But upon my first visit, I could already tell their focus was to educate you on making the right decision. There was no pressure like I felt from other local jewelers and some of the bigger chains that the salesperson's need to hit a quota gets transferred to the customer experience. BRAG is absolutely fantastic and this review is much overdue! My fiancee and I visited BRAG in April of 2019 to look at engagement rings together. Ani was tremendously helpful, straightforward, and not pushy at all (other places we had been to were clearly trying to sell a bit too hard). After realizing what ring she wanted (a pear, and not an emerald like she thought she would like), my now fiancee flew to Japan the next day where she was presenting at a conference for her PhD. We decided to turn this trip into a vacation and I was going to be flying out the following week to meet her. Now that she knew exactly what type of ring she wanted, what better place to propose than a romantic vacation abroad in Japan?! The very next morning after my fiancee left for Japan, I called BRAG and even though they mentioned it's best to give them 6-8 weeks notice, I asked if there was any possible chance they could put together an engagement ring in a week. Luckily, the stone was already in their office and the setting was relatively simple. Sevag promised he would do everything he could to make the best possible ring without compromising any quality at all. I continually checked in with Sevag and he miraculously created the gorgeous ring in 5 days (see photos). Like most reviews for BRAG, I probably cannot say anything that hasn't already been said. There's a reason why Sevag is rated 5 stars! What I can do, is tell you about my engagement ring buying experience and maybe that'll help you in making the right choice of jeweler. Before I went to BRAG, I went to several jewelers who were rated highly. Most jewelers sell you diamonds and will be able to answer any questions you may have around buying your diamond but since they're not the actual jeweler who make the bands they just assure you that they'll do a great job (kinda sounding like TRUMP). If you're looking for a pre-set design then probably you don't have to worry because they've made the band before and they have the molds, CADs etc. and they know exactly how much the band will cost you. However in my case my design was unique. It was based off a designer pattern I found on the internet (the original was in platinum and was very expensive and was more than what I was willing to pay for the stone itself besides I wanted to make my ring in 14k white gold). When I went to BRAG, Sevag showed me some stones he had in in inventory which met my criterion. He happened to have a stone that was very close to the color I was looking for but the other features it had, more than made up for it. Sevag priced the stone atleast $500 less than what the least pricey jeweler would have charged you for it. He priced it at what it would have cost you to buy it at an online retailer. The problem with online retailers is that you are aren't sure, what the final product will look like and if there's issues with it, you'll have to deal with someone via mail or UPS (something I wasn't comfortable doing). Once I was happy with the stone, we talked about the design of the ring. Since Sevag makes the ring himself, he was able to go into very fine detail on how he was going to make the ring, how many stones he's going to use, what they're quality was etc. I gave him a budget and asked that he stay within it. Sevag was able to tell me exactly what every component of the ring was going to cost, down to the point where we were negotiating how many stones would be placed on the band so that we don't exceed my budget and I'm happy with the final result. In the end Sevag did charge me more that what other jewelers were quoting for the design of the band but since he was the only person who told me how he was going to make it, I was comfortable in the fact that he knew exactly what he was going to do. He even accommodated me with how I was going to make the payment for the ring. Like we agreed, he delivered me the ring on time and in fact he did a better job that the original designer pattern itself. I was impressed with how beautiful the ring looked and my fiancée loved it too (which is all that matters). Sevag ended up using more diamonds on the band (than what we agreed to) because he felt that it would look better that way and didn't even charge me extra for doing so. If you're on the fence about whom you'd like as your jeweler, look no further... Sevag is your guy! My wife and I will definitely be going to him in the future for any of our jeweler needs. read more
