My appointment with Iqbal was one of the most exciting experiences of my life - he not only showed me a wide array of diamonds but educated me on quality as well which I found incredibly helpful. I was looking to upgrade the center stone on my engagement ring and was in the process of ordering a diamond from one of the big online stores. While doing an online search for a jeweler that would then replace the diamond on my ring, I stumbled on Khan Diamonds. Persuaded by the positive reviews, I gave the store a call. Mr. Khan was happy to do the job but believed he could beat the price for the diamond. I texted the web link and he soon replied with an offer of a bigger and better diamond at a lower price. Prior to that I had done my homework on diamond quality, so even as a novice I could compare both options and clearly, his was a better deal in terms of the 4C's and price. Mr. Khan also sent me screenshots highlighting the flaws on the diamond I was going to buy online (flaws that the online diamond consultant had failed to mention). I went to his store on appointment and saw the beautiful diamond he had recommended. I asked to see something else to compare with and he showed me another one that was slightly bigger with excellent polish and symmetry. With a quick negotiation, I got it for a little more I was going to spend online and have it mounted on my engagement ring. Given the reasonable prices of other jewelry he had in the store, I decided on a new wedding band to boot! Hubby agreed and I went back to pick up my order three days later. the set of rings was totally lovely! He provided the IGI diamond certificate, an appraisal for the rings and a quote for jewelry insurance (no pressure, totally up to me; still sitting on that one ). I landed at Khan diamonds last after checking a few stores around the Jewellers building. To say the least I'm glad I landed here. Mr. Khan knew exactly my budget was and what I was looking for, we looked at his database of diamonds from the suppliers directly, he showed me the exact cost price and the different specs for each. I was selecting a higher carat but he advised to go for a lower carat but more surface area cause I getting it placed on a halo cushion so the surface area mattered rather than the higher carat weight. He was very frank and honest with his rates, he charged the cost price for the diamond and setting with a fixed labor charge. I researched the same diamond online on blue Nile and other sites, Khan was lower by 300 than the cheapest site I found also the cut was excellent. His background is what impressed me, he owns the place and has been here for 15 years, also note he does this as a hobby which was very cool. He also is a certified appraiser and has a degree in gemology which was reflected in his talks and suggestions when making decisions of design, diamond setting and type. Having visited a few stores around, some appear pushy, try to up sell you something not certified or even have crazy rates, but with Khan I felt I could trust him. He taught me how to read the serial number on the diamond using the microscope (it's hard to read if you're new) which was GIA certified so that I wouldn't be fooled and I was getting what I paid for. After selecting the diamond and putting a deposit for it, we received it in a day (supplier was in NY),looked great! We went through looking at a few settings and finally I finalized on something which looked like the Harry Winston cushion halo. Belive it or not I forgot to carry my check book buy the diamond Hah! But Khan was awesome he asked me to make a small payment by cc and mail him the check and he'd pay the supplier. As soon as he got the check encashed, he made CAD designs and sent it. I sent my changes to him which was reducing the size of the diamonds around the halo so it doesn't take away from the diamond. He did a fantastic final CAD and in a few days he called me to check out the finished product (He does the setting himself) He also had a good sample for fonts for engraving which he did as well. He also guided me on insurance as he's affiliated with the Jewellers Exchange for insurance, my ring was insured right there on the ipad exclusively from the Jewellers exchange to Khan. The final product was awesome! It blew my mind. When I proposed, my girl was just amazed, the look and the reaction was priceless. She loved the ring, exactly finished the way she wanted. She has that smile on her face everytime it sparkles and says Thank you. In my head I go " Thank you Mr Khan" for making this dream a reality I would highly recommend having a conversation with him even if you don't buy something, his store is the most simplest in the building but the experience was stellar. Iqbal is a fabulous jeweler. I recently had a dozen or so rings resized and a custom ring designed: emerald-cut green tourmaline set alongside a pair of trapezoid-cut diamonds in 18k yellow gold. As a novice gem collector, I purchased the tourmaline and brought it to Iqbal to inquire about a three-stone setting. I brought an inspiration photo, and he was able to match it wonderfully. He maintains a large selection of loose diamonds and gems, so I was able to choose among a number of loose trapezoid diamond pairs he had in stock to complement the main stone. Based on positive online reviews for Khan's we decided to shop there first. I'm very glad we did. Iqbal has a nice collection of custom platinum bands of every style and size. The custom bands we ordered were ready as Iqbal promised, about 3 weeks later. The quality is very high and the prices were reasonable. There was a minor sizing adjustment that was corrected on site within half an hour.
