While other Jewelers wanted me to leave my jewelry for a week or come back at the end of the month when the appraiser would be there, Art was prompt and scheduled me in right away. Art came to my office to appraise a ring for me. He was very knowledgeable and even took the time to make a drawing so I could better understand what he was saying. He had a lot of convincing to do with me because I was certain that a jeweler had switched my stone with a lesser quality stone. The jeweler was honest, the stone was my own, the appraisal given at the jewelry store was wrong in so many different ways I thought my stone was switched and my mind was made up...the jeweler was crooked. After Art showed me, sketched it out for me, explained it to me several times and showed me again I have to admit that I was wrong (first time ever being a woman and all). I had what I remembered buying in the 80's. He saved me a lifetime of looking at a ring and feeling like I'd be conned....a lawsuit because I was definitely pursuing justice....and total embarrassment because you remember I said I was wrong. His report was thorough and perfect for my insurance company. I do not know how competitive his prices are. I've had Arthur DeMello do appraisals, design settings and set various stones for about 10 years. He's the best in the business, knows an ENORMOUS amount about various stones (will happily teach you about the gems, if you're interested), settings, and the best ways to put them together. Our recent "project" was a year in the making, (the first time I've ever done anything like this) as Art located the perfect stone (at the perfect price) and then, confirmed that the designer I'd chosen had a great reputation and did top notch work. Without Art's advice, I would have stumbled along, choosing a designer whose work was shoddy (I almost did - thank you for stopping me from doing that, Art!). Art worked with the designer I had finally selected, kept me informed about their discussions of the specifics and limitations of what I wanted, and of what was both realistic and feasible.
