I was so impressed with Art's work. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. He provided me with his CV and his credentials are impressive. He was able to not just appraise my piece but give me a very interesting history on it. He's like a gem whisperer... :-) He took his time and wrote up a wonderful and inclusive appraisal. I'm glad I chose Art and will use him again. read more

I met with Arthur twice for jewelry appraisals. He is such a nice, personable wonderful person, first and foremost. He also has quite an impressive background between his education and multitude of clients he has worked with over the course of his career. Arthur produced very very thorough appraisals for many pieces of jewelry that I had and I received all of these appraisals much sooner than I surmised would be the case, despite his workload. I would highly recommend Arthur for your jewelry appraisals. read more

Arthur was fantastic to work with. His expertise was evident during our session along with very helpful additional information for the future about jewelry being viewed. I would absolutely recommend getting in touch with him for your next appraisal needs. Also, worth noting he was able to make a trip to a nearby location, so we didn't have to go into Boston for the appointment. He was nothing short of wonderful to work with! read more

The jewelry appraisal service exceeded expectations! The appraisal was accurate, prompt and presented in such a way that I could simply forward the documents to our insurance company. Art is truly a professional in this business. I highly recommend! read more

I had a great experience working with A. DeMello. While other Jewelers wanted me to leave my jewelry for a week or come back at the end of the month when the appraiser would be there, Art was prompt and scheduled me in right away. He reviewed each piece with me, took notes and pictures all while I sat right there--no leaving my jewelry! Two days later I had my appraisal by email. I was Impressed that each appraisal had the picture of the jewelry on it. It made it so much easier than my last appraisals. It was a pleasure working with someone prompt, professional, knowledgeable and reasonable. I would not for a second hesitate to go back and I highly recommend his services. I read more

Art came to my office to appraise a ring for me. He was very knowledgeable and even took the time to make a drawing so I could better understand what he was saying. He had a lot of convincing to do with me because I was certain that a jeweler had switched my stone with a lesser quality stone. The jeweler was honest, the stone was my own, the appraisal given at the jewelry store was wrong in so many different ways I thought my stone was switched and my mind was made up...the jeweler was crooked. After Art showed me, sketched it out for me, explained it to me several times and showed me again I have to admit that I was wrong (first time ever being a woman and all). I had what I remembered buying in the 80's. He saved me a lifetime of looking at a ring and feeling like I'd be conned....a lawsuit because I was definitely pursuing justice....and total embarrassment because you remember I said I was wrong. I've spent a lot of time apologizing. In my defense...if the original appraiser had done the job correctly I never would have lost my ish. Thank you Art for proving me wrong and keeping me humble....GREAT JOB! read more

If you want an expert appraisal, then you best see Arthur Demello. He is efficient; a master in his field. He even traveled from his office in Boston to meet me near where I live. His report was thorough and perfect for my insurance company. I do not know how competitive his prices are. I thought the appointment and report total was fairly high, but I truly believe it was worth it. We will use Art for every appraisal in the future. read more

Art was one of three jewelry appraisals I contacted to appraise my jewelry. One was very nice but said they were booked solid for months. Another was condescending bordering on rude. Art was prompt in replying to queries. He has an office in Boston and he even provides the option of visiting you at your residence. I have gone back to Art twice to have my jewelry appraised and I have been very satisfied both times with the service he provided. He's very knowledgeable and will take the time to tell you and teach you what he's looking for in your jewelry. After the appraisal, he sent very detailed descriptions of each of my jewelry and other documents to give to my Insurance company. read more

Art is truly a pleasure to work with! Instantly, you can tell that Art is not only an expert in the field, but also he's also an honest man that does amazing work. He's efficient and will get you the best appraisal around. It's especially nice that you don't have to leave your jewelry overnight and that he works hard to get you the appraisal ASAP (mine was done that night!). I'll definitely will go back to Art in the future and refer any one to him. A++ forArt! read more

I found it easy to make appointment, he is friendly, and most important, qualified. He did my engagement ring and band appraisal on the spot and walked me through all the elements. He also sent a detailed report the same day. It is clear he loves what he does and cares about providing the highest quality of service. The appraisal was more expensive than generic internet quotes of $100-$150. read more

The best! Fast, cheap, accurrate and friendly. No need to go to anywhere else for appraisals in Boston!

Mr. DeMello is very knowledgeable and a provided a great advice.

I've had Arthur DeMello do appraisals, design settings and set various stones for about 10 years. He's the best in the business, knows an ENORMOUS amount about various stones (will happily teach you about the gems, if you're interested), settings, and the best ways to put them together. Our recent "project" was a year in the making, (the first time I've ever done anything like this) as Art located the perfect stone (at the perfect price) and then, confirmed that the designer I'd chosen had a great reputation and did top notch work. Without Art's advice, I would have stumbled along, choosing a designer whose work was shoddy (I almost did - thank you for stopping me from doing that, Art!). Art worked with the designer I had finally selected, kept me informed about their discussions of the specifics and limitations of what I wanted, and of what was both realistic and feasible. I wanted a setting that would showcase the cut of my remarkable small stone, and Art was able to make sure that the design I'd chosen was made to his very high standards - from which Art's clients benefit! Truly, I am so happy with the outcome, this particular ring, and all of the years I've worked with Art on my various pieces. He is the soul of patience - believe me, I asked a million questions, as this project continued! Art, thank you SO much for everything you did to make such a beautiful ring into a reality - it is even more wonderful than I could have envisioned! You really are THE BEST! read more
