If you go to Brilliant Earth on Newbury St. you have GOT to book an appointment with Yasmeen. My engagement ring is from this store and I was shopping for my wedding band. I came into the appointment with zero knowledge or idea of what I wanted and Yasmeen was kind, excited, welcoming, and most importantly an absolute joy to work with. She took me back to feeling like I was a kid again and the fun of trying on jewelry/putting on a fashion show with your best friend. I walked out trying to decide between two rings and promptly booked a final appointment with her to retry those two rings. She was so excited to see me again and didn't push me one way or the other but rather encouraged me that I literally couldn't make a wrong decision, which elevated all my stress. If you're thinking about getting a ring from them...don't. I have never written a review for a company, ever, and felt the need to after my experience. My engagement band of less than two years has cracked in 3 separate places, and I have not had any known instances when this would have occurred. I did not get it resized so that's not the issue. When dealing with Brilliant Earth, customer service, they said they would not cover the fix and that we were required to pay for half of it. I can't imagine worse customer service, and if you are considering buying from here, know that there could be major quality issues down the road. Truly brilliant!! We purchased my engagement ring and both of our wedding bands from Brilliant Earth. Making an appointment for the showroom (conveniently located on Newbury Street) is simple. During your appointment, you have a dedicated staff member to show you different styles you can try on and answer questions. I love that the diamonds are ethically sourced and there are also lab grown options. There are a variety of settings, ranging from classic to more unique, and all are beautiful. I had NO idea what kind of engagement ring I wanted before going (they do have a cool virtual try-on feature online, which helped somewhat), and it made such a difference to try rings on in person and feel confident in our (major) decision. My soon-to-be fiancé then picked out the perfect diamond and ordered online. My 1.5 carat round diamond in platinum Selene setting (which has 2 small side diamonds) is simply stunning and exactly what we wanted!! When we got the ring a few weeks later, it was too big (despite taking my ring size in the store). Similarly, my fiancée's wedding band was too big and had to be resized. Be aware of this, as you may want to go a size down if you're on the fence! Fortunately, they have free resizing for the first 30 days, and it was simple to just drop it off and have it shipped back to us. They are taking COVID precautions seriously, limiting the number of people in the showroom, taking temps before entering, and putting up plastic between you and the staff. I have never written a bad review before, but I guess it's a great time to start when they have ruined a beautiful moment in our life. My fiance and I went into brilliant earth to resize my ring. No big deal. While we were there we were interested in looking at wedding bands but unfortunately the show room was not open. Totally fine, we understood because we didn't make an appointment for that. We only made an appointment to resize the band. So we made one to look at bands. The girl in the showroom assured us that it would only be 2-3 weeks and that it would be an easy process and it would give us plenty of time for our band appointment. We made the wedding band appointment 5 weeks out We hand off the ring and at week two, I was curious to see if it was ready. It wasn't. Fine she did give us a range. Week three comes around and now we have contacted brilliant earth at least 3 times and guess what? They have pushed the delivery date all times. All times were different excuses. "We want the ring to be perfect, you can't rush perfection" "Production is having delays but we don't have access to production timeline" "We don't have enough people working to produce your ring" "The band size change was too drastic so we had to make the ring over completely" "We see you have contacted us multiple times and I have just expedited the process but unfortunately this is the earliest date" (still not here at the earliest date) Now it's been 5 weeks and we have our band appointment in two days with ZERO hopes that the ring will even be here. We have celebrated countless times with our friends and family without the ring and superficially it is disappointing. We are not unreasonable people if you just tell us the truth. I don't need bullshit excuses like "perfection takes time" just be straightforward with the process. Train your employees to give accurate time lines. Train your customer service to be better in situations like this. Don't tell customers that their ring will be ready when it hasn't even shipped out yet. I had a bad experience and would not recommend this company. They were pushy and I read tons of reviews on how poor the quality of their jewelry is. I went ahead and ordered from them anyways because my girlfriend liked a certain style of ring they had, and after paying for the ring they reached out a week later and told me the diamond i purchased is out of stock. They then tried to get me to buy a more expensive one and told me if I wanted the one I ordered I would have to pay thousands of extra dollars for it to be custom created. One of the worst parts about the whole experience was calling customer service to have them help me with my complaint which was like calling Comcast as I reached someone out of the country everytime and never someone from a local store. I finally got a refund and ended up going through a local jeweler which I would highly recommend. All of my local jewelers told me they see lots of folks with similar experiences to mine with Brilliant Earth. I wasnt even going to leave a review but they actually reached out to me with a copy and pasted a personalized "heartfelt" message months later about how they hope everything went well with my proposal and they want me to tell everyone about the positive experience I had (same person processed my refund...so that goes to show you how personalized their experience really is). read more

After having about 5 independent issues with my order and purchase, I was contacted by a customer service representative from this office, Chloe. She was quite nice and patient and understanding, but ultimately was empowered to do nothing to compensate for all of the issues I had experienced: delays, incorrect information, 3 different shipping errors. All these issues delayed my engagement, and created a ton of extra work, not to mention frustration and anxiety for me. I told her I didn't want free pieces of jewelry as a consolation, but rather a modest partial refund or would accept a credit to a future order. (These issues cost me a ton of extra time, and I think it is totally fair to ask for some compensation.) Nevertheless, all she offered was what I told her I did not want. Numerous appointments scheduled (without even our approval of the time) where the wedding bands we asked to see were not there after being confirmed for showing. The person showing was late to the appointment. The identical rings are also cheaper elsewhere. Took over a month to resize an engagement ring and the outsourced phone support had no clue where it was or when it would arrive. They were unable to escalate or put us in touch with anyone that had more information. Mixed material rings sizing is one and done, get the size wrong and you're stuck with it. Steer clear... I have the Sonora eternity band- it's beautiful, but I've only had it for 10 months and 2 diamonds have already fallen out. You can send it out for 1-2 months and B.E. will inspect/repair (only if it's a manufacture error). I also have a B.E. engagement ring and the white gold has worn away in less than 2 yrs. They shared that refinishing is not covered (some buyers do this annually) and is commonly needed. We are beyond disappointed with Brilliant Earth. I got engaged a year and a half ago, and we used Brilliant Earth for convenience and the lab created diamond selection. We chose the Selene setting. While washing my hands at work last week, my entire setting crumbled. Two of the side diamonds went down the drain. I was left with the center diamond setting sitting on top of the drain and a horse shoe shape for the band. I work an office job and am very careful with my jewelry, so I was devastated. We contacted Brilliant Earth believing they would also be shocked by this turn of events and stand by their product. Instead, they informed me it was my fault, and the ring was irreparable. They told me they would be "happy" to work with our insurance company to purchase a new setting, which would cost approximately $1500. We are taking my ring to a jeweler who will stand by their product after only a year and a half of use and will never return to Brilliant Earth. I am incredibly sad that the ring my fiancé chose is now destroyed. Please let my story be a warning to you, choose a jewelry store who will stand by the value of their product which is supposed to last a lifetime. read more

Overall my engagement ring is beautiful. Something that i believe is worth sharing my opinion on is my experience with their lack of quality customer service and their repairing process. Shortly after receiving my ring from my fiancé we both noticed that the diamond was completely crooked and looked lopsided, as well as the prongs didn't seem secure and made me too scared to wear it as I was worried my diamond would fall out. We brought it to the Boston showroom to be sent out for repairs and were told it would take approx 1week for someone to contact us with an update and 2-3 weeks for it to come back to us. Unfortunately the customer service kept us in the complete dark even after multiple times we attempted to reach out to them for updates they just kept blowing us off. The customer service rep literally told us "I don't know". Just very very disappointing. What do you mean you don't know?... They reassured us someone would reach out "ASAP" and literally never got a call/email from anyone. We finally get an email almost 2.5 weeks later that my ring is magically back in the showroom ready for pickup.... uhhhh okay? I go to pick up my ring and it's still as crooked as before, if anything it actually doesn't even look like anyone even attempted to fix it. So disappointing !! Very disappointed with the whole experience. I can't stress enough the word "disappointed". The rep offered to send it out again but obviously I'm not going to trust them with sending my ring across the country again for another month and be kept in the dark especially since clearly they don't know what they're doing. After driving an hour, getting my nails done and planning a whole day in Boston, I was told I couldn't even get sized. Update: I went through the resizing process and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was. I contacted someone for a return label, packed it up back in the same box, and then sent my ring off for resizing. I received my ring back in the mail earlier than expected and now it fits perfectly. Brilliant earth also accommodated me- since my fiancé was deployed and I never am home before 530, they requested Fedex to hold my ring at a location for me to pick up. I bought an engagement ring from Brilliant Earth about a year ago. Everything was stellar. Smooth appointment process. My fiancée loved the ring. We had to get it resized, and that process was also very easy - a simple return process and we had it back within a couple of weeks. Fast forward a year, we're looking at wedding rings. Of course, first place we go is Brilliant Earth. Very different experience. We book an appointment for Saturday at 6pm - we live two hours away from Boston, but we figured it would be fun to make a day of it. The Thursday before our appointment they call us to reschedule our appointment; apparently their system let us book our appointment during an employee break. They ask if we can reschedule to 3pm, so we move our lunch plans and make them dinner plans. Then on Friday, we get another call - again, our appointment was booked during an employee break, and now they're completely booked on Saturday. After some grumbling, we keep our dinner plans and make a separate trip into the city to visit them Sunday. Everything went well at the appointment and we liked the rings, so we made a purchase. Except now there's an issue with the order. Ok, I'll get in touch with them and ask them to fix it. Send an email to our salesperson - no response from her. So I follow up with a phone call - the lady on the phone says she has to talk to the salesperson - and I never hear back. Follow up with a second call, I press 1 to request a callback at my number - and never get a callback. Bizarre experience, I feel like I've dealt with two different companies. 5/5 for the engagement ring, 1/5 for the wedding rings = a 3/5 star experience Edit: Bumping them up a star. I had my reservations about ordering online without visually being able to inspect; I was also advised from my local diamond retailers that online got all of the "reject diamonds" that the shops wouldn't purchase, that the online purchase would be of a lower quality when compared to theirs. Man where they wrong! I can't believe how beautiful this stone is!!! I brought my .90 Vs1 F pear shape in to compare to my retail shop and it blew their selection out of the water and for 1/3 the cost! Also make sure you're reviewing the dimensions when shopping. My .90 pear was longer and wider than the 1-1.10 carat stones available at both major retail shops in MN. When they tried to get a stone to match mine in size and color they were closer to 3 times the cost of my brilliant earth purchase. Even their lab options were more than twice as expensive. We ordered an engagement ring with a sapphire center stone. The ring is very pretty and matches what I ordered. The checkout process was easy and I liked that I was able to pick out the center stone for the ring. We were also able to get the ring resized for free through Brilliant Earth fairly easily. My issues are: -The ring sizer from their website did not work for us. Not a huge deal since they provide a free resize in 60 days. -We never received a Certification of Authenticity. We were originally told the certificate was coming in the mail, then we were told gem stones do not get certified for Billiant Earth Sales. -We were told when starting the resizing process that the ring had to be sent in the ring box and that if we wanted it back to leave notes indicating as such. We didn't not get the same box back. -When the resized ring came back paperwork for another ring for another customer was included. read more
