We like this place. We've been here before and we'll be back. Tonight the hubs & I saw Wicked & the movie was fantastic! Our waitress was friendly & the food was expensive but decent. Couldn't get a frozen margarita like I hoped for but their house blue margarita on the rocks was a good alternative. I have a few points of improvement, the women's bathroom was crazy dark tonight & for some reason all the soap dispensers were not on the counter. One other note is the sheer loudness. Maybe it's standard these days in a movie theater, but it still feels abnormal. My smartwatch kept alerting me that it was above 85 dB throughout the movie. Memo to self to bring ear protection in the future! read more

I have not been here for about a year. We decided to go see a movie and get a bite last night. It was my first time since they installed new seats. Recliner is very nice and table is new and sleek. Screen clarity is very low. Movie looked too dark compared with other theaters. It was not bad enough to complain. If I just want to watch a movie, I would not come here, it is very convenient to enjoy the movie and have a bite. Although, I realized that their coconut shrimp had shrunk. They were so small. I used to feel it was hard to know if I grabbed was a chicken or shrimp, but now shrimps are so small and you can identify them by just finger touch. My daughter only got two shrimp on the combo meal. We are supposed to have three shrimp and three chicken. Again, not enough to complain about. I will come back again though, experience is very fun. I am not sure if I will order coconut shrimp again. read more

If they forget to bring you your food, asking about it several times won't fix it and they'll still bill you for it. When you ask the manager to remove it from the bill, he'll "take a little extra off", which is about two bucks more than the tax and that item's portion of the mandatory tip. Around 80 cents per hour I spent waiting. Their pretzel cheese is basically orange oil that won't stick to anything. The food that did arrive for the other members of the party were rated "fine." So that's the highest praise I can give. Some of it was fine. This place was great when it opened. Disaster now. read more

Honestly, food sucked. We were very excited to try this movie theater for the first time showed up last night for the first for the new Superman. We've been here a handful of times. Take the kids when there's a big movie they want to see. We went last night for Red One. Loved the movie. Unfortunately, the service this time was lacking. Took forever to get an order in. Servers brought our drinks all at different times, one of the drinks had a crack in the glass and was leaking everywhere and another drink came half full and I was asked if that was ok? Idk who would want a half filled drink but when they brought it back the attitude that came with it was almost comical. I don't mind spending what it takes to see a movie there when we come. But when it costs $100 including tip for 3 people, (I had one cocktail) my hope is that it doesn't leak all over us. read more

Service was prompt and helpful once we figured out in the very dark theater that here was a call button on the tray. Our theater (#4) had not been cleaned since the previous showing. The trays were greasy and nasty; the floor and seat had popcorn. Sound level was much too high, as is common in theaters now. I had brought ear protection. The halls needed vacuuming, and the women's bathroom had a toilet with feces on the seat. We ordered coconut shrimp and a coconut shrimp/chicken combo. The Thai chili sauce was excellent, but no hint of coconut was on the food; it was tasteless and very dried out. The fries were sad and cold. Very expensive for such poor quality. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable for people under 5'8". All the employees were pleasant, but they need to step up their game. The cost for movie for two seniors plus the food and a beer was about $75, mostly covered by the gift certificate that we had received from a friend. I resent the automatic 18% tip. With Ipic closing down, I've been on a hunt for my new theater and yes, I'm a bit of a movie theater snob lol. But I just love watching movies and I don't mind paying for comfort. Pro's: -Lot's of space, inside and even parking is ample. -When other theaters are usually packed to the max, this place usually has some spots available so sometimes they have good seats, even last minute. -They have some great dishes, their steak fries are to do for, as are their chicken tenders. -Good overall service, they bring the food to you so it's nice not to have to wait in lines and be late and miss the previews lol -Place was clean and organized, very sharp and the lounge area was very nice and open, great overall environment Con's: -Chairs are not very comfortable, they are not recliners either so it doesn't help -Their handicap seats are basically just computer chairs -Usually, when theaters offer food service to the chair, they can't tend to so many people without sacrificing services and think that's the issue.here. The whole room had food service so orders tend to be late or sometimes forgotten. They did a good job considering but it was very distracting seeing them run across the isles constantly. And they only seemed to be coming and going through one door so it was hard to avoid. It was just distracting. read more

Came here to see the Barbie movie. This place is very nice, the workers and bartenders were very friendly. The server inside the theatre was extremely friendly (josh). I ordered a blue moon, mushroom burger, pretzel bites and flat bread. It took quite a bit of time for our food to be delivered, and we were the 1st people to order. Families actually got served before us, and we arrived way before them. Our pretzel bites came out first, HORRIBLE. We literally got 10 small bites, that didn't even fill up the plate and they were cold. Not worth it, don't order the pretzel bites, stay far away! Our food came out separately, the mushroom burger was barely warm and the flatbread pizza was almost cold. We ended up paying $71 just for the food and two drinks. Overall, not even close to worth it. The food was cold and basically, not good. If it wasn't for the service (bartender and josh), I would prob give them 1 star. My wife enjoyed herself and didn't mind the seats. We prob give it another try, but we will definitely eat before coming here again. read more

Just saw Wicked at this theatre - very disappointing viewing experience. They keep all of the lights on in the theatre during the entire movie - both above and below - which ruins it for me. The screen isn't nearly bright enough with these lights on, and it's hard to see the characters and scenery. I'm shocked they allow this and I'm sure the producers of movies wouldn't be happy that their audience isn't seeing what they intended. I will not go back to Studio Movie Grill - or any theater that keeps lights on. Completely ruins the movie experience. read more

Great film + great food = great time!! We came as a party of five for an evening movie on a Saturday night. We all came hungry and planned on dinner, drinks and dessert. The service during the movie is surprisingly smooth and not disruptive for movie viewing. I had the Mediterranean Chicken bowl and it was quite good and fresh. A warm chocolate brownie for dessert and this girl was delighted!! Highly recommend checking this theatre out for a "one-stop" for delicious food and great entertainment. read more

The food was pretty good, though it would be better if you could just walk in and get your popcorn starter on your own. Would be more fresh and nostalgic that way. Anyway, the seats are meh since everywhere else has recliners. I really did enjoy the new southwest egg rolls and the kids enjoyed their chicken with fruit. The movie was bright enough and the sound was good. The real problem was with the air quality. The air in the theater caused me to have an asthma attack since it was so musty and moist. The humidity was so high inside and once I left and got home my symptoms subsided. I would be concerned there is a mold problem in the theater as that is the only thing that causes that kind of reaction for me. read more

Nice and Cozy movie joint. I had a girl's date out yesterday. We all purchased our tickets through Groupon. Which was a great idea for all of us to do. The atmosphere was relaxed. There wasn't a long line. We were able to walk up to the box office and select our seats. They have a cute lil seating area and bar area where you can seat and order drinks before the movie. The chairs don't recline back but there ok. They have buzzers on top of the table. You can buzz someone to come to your seat. Place your food or drink order. Very clean inside and outside. The food is not that great. The prices are fair these days to see a movie. We arrived before 4pm so we could use are groupons. Anything after 4pm you won't be able to use your groupon. read more

Upon arriving, server was prompt in coming to take my order. I ordered the wings and requested to substitute the side of veggies with fries. The server assured me she would look into it and disclosed there may be an up-charge. I have no problem with that. However, when I got my wings, there were no fries. Just the celery and carrots it normally comes with. I caught my server as she passed by to ask about my fries and she told me she would check on it. I don't think she ever did because I'm waiting for about 30-45 minutes and still have NO FRIES!! I finally caught another server to ask AGAIN for a 3rd time, he assures me it would be taken care of for me. I waited another 30 minutes for these fries to come out. By this time I had already finished eating my wings. Then another guy comes out to deliver fries to me again, well I already received my fries I informed him and he looks confused and just stands there for a minute trying to process a simple response. I ordered again a dessert item, the Churros & Ice Cream. Why did they send me the bill before even delivering the food to me?! Like you expect me to pay up before I get my food. The same guy who gave me the bill, actually came back to check if I was ready to pay. First off, I had already opened a tab with my first server - who by the way ghosted me after the fry incident. Secondly, I'm not paying for something I never received. I finally get my dessert late in the movie, so now I'm rushed to finish it before the movie ends. Then I'm paying two bills because I'm told they had to open a new tab for me. Well, what happened to the first one?! The food was actually decent. But the service here is all over the place. Better training is definitely needed for the employees. And I'm not too happy about the new policy forcing gratuity at 18%. Essentially, this is a mandatory service charge - based on what I found from IL Dept. of Revenue website. But that's fine I guess. I didn't tip extra because I thought the service could have been better, and it kind of ruined my experience overall. read more

Took In a movie here not too long ago! There are a couple similar movie going experiences in the Chicagoland area. Studio movie grill is pretty similar overall. All of the food seems to be reasonably priced. We had one of the Pizza Flatbread's and it was good! Desserts were a little too pricey for my liking but still probably not bad overall. I can definitely say that if you're going on a date night this is a nice one stop shop! read more

My boyfriend and I were out exploring another suburb of Chicago when we came across the Danada Square Shopping Center. We saw that they had a movie theater and we decided to watch "Us". For starters, the tickets are 3$ cheaper than downtown Chicago. However, I would suggest coming to the theater and getting your tickets in person to avoid paying for the service charge. I understand it might not be convenient, and people would rather buy their tickets online and ahead of time, but if you want to save a few dollars and are around the area, just pop in and get your tickets. Our movie was at around 7:15pm so we had a few hours to kill and decided to go around the shopping center to pass the time, so A+ for location. The theater itself is nice and they keep it clean. The seats were not comfortable at all. It felt like I was sitting on rocks and the chairs do not tilt backwards. I understand not every theater has those, but this is a dine-in theater, and you pay extra for the experience, so I expected the chairs to at least tilt backwards. You have your own tray table, small, but fits most plates, and there's a button on each and every tray table in case you need service. The seat levels are positioned in a way in which servers will still get in your way and block the screen, so that got a little annoying throughout the movie. The sound however is excellent. It's loud, but not the crappy kind of loud, it's engineered so well that you feel like you're in the movie itself and no one is around you. As for the food, I took a quick glance at the menu, and it's mostly American cuisine with a twist here and there. They do have a 2 for 28$ deal in which you get an appetizer to share and 2 main courses, however, dessert is an extra 5$. We opted for the popcorn and tried it with their dill spice, which was an extra 2$. The dill spice didn't do much, it was literally butter and dill spice mixed together and poured over the popcorn. We probably won't get that next time. Either way, it was a fun night and we enjoyed this theater a lot. We'll definitely be back if we are ever out in Wheaton again. read more

They've really stepped up their game. Excellent food, prompt service when you press the button. Comfortable reclining chairs. Good drinks. My Dad is very picky with his food and he even liked the Cesar wrap. My mom had the burger. My sister had the brisket quesadilla and I had the chicken nachos. If you haven't been to SMG in a while because it wasn't so great last time, I'd encourage you to try again. read more

What do you want in a dinner movie experience: A great screen, spectacular sound, reclining seats, scrumptious meal, and specialty drinks? Well, the food is decent and they bring it right to you. The screen is way bigger than my TV. Seats are a cross between my office chair and a doctors waiting room. The sound, again, beats my living room. It's overall a good experience but the seats are the biggest let down. If you just want a great movie experience, go to a Regal or AMC. If you want someone to bring you cocktail and a flatbread mid-movie, then this is your place. read more

Generally, I like Studio Movie Grill very much. It is my theater of choice. I go there every week (except in the rare event that there is absolutely nothing worth watching that I haven't already watched which does happen a very few times every year). Their reclining seats are very comfortable. I also like that at the time of ticket purchase, you select your seats. Rarely are there any children at all. And it has been years since there my movie experience has been interrupted by crying babies or inconsiderate guests. I like the fact that they take food and refreshment orders from seated guests. The food is relatively expensive and I easily spend $60-$75 dollars every visit for two people (excluding the cost of tickets). Now, however, if you pay with a credit card/debit card, they will AUTOMATICALLY add an 18% tip at the time of order BEFORE service is even rendered. The receipt includes this surcharge (let's call it what it is -- it is not optional, but included in your total just like sales tax) with the option of including an additional tip (on top of the mandatory 18%). So, not only do you pay for overpriced food, they require a 18% "tip" in advance and regardless of the quality of service as a minimum mandatory "gratuity." Corporate gratuity entitlement (especially when demanded when food is ordered before service (apparently as a precondition of service)) is out of control. It totally ruins my formerly pleasant experience at Studio Movie Grill. Pay your service staff a reasonable wage. Incorporates that wage into your prices. And, stop demanding that customers subsidize your meager wages with a required surcharge. read more

I definitely go here because of the Groupon since the theater is so out of the way for me. It used to be $5 but has increased to $6. Still not a bad deal. I came here with an expired Groupon from 2012 (yes, I'm one of those "buy-a-Groupon-that-I-want-to-use-but-ends-up-expired" people), but surprisingly, the system accepted the full value. Score! The lobby area is pretty spacious and modern. There are various waiting areas where you can sit as well as a nifty bar area. You have the option to pick your seats online or in person, but the online option will cost you an extra $1.50 per person. Unless you're really picky about seats or are going during peak hours (aka Friday or Saturday night), you can pick your seats in person. The rows are pretty spaced out from each other inside the theater. So tall people with long legs, you have nothing to worry about. :) Each seat has a mini table that swivels in and out, almost like a school desk, except you're watching a movie and not hearing a teacher yapping. The best part is that each desk has a little service button, which you push when you're ready to order food or need something. I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos with a big, fat glass of Sprite. It took kind of a long time to get our order, but I guess that can be a good thing because I'd be more worried if it took a couple of minutes (aka microwaving, or maybe that's what they do anyways?). For $13.95, I received two big tacos and a side of chips/salsa. What's interesting (and not mentioned in the menu, btw) is that they use a separate sauce in each taco. When I took a bite out of one of the tacos, my first impression was how much sauce they used. They were definitely a little too generous on the sauce, and same goes for the other taco, because when it got down to the last couple of bites of the tacos, I wanted to throw up. I wouldn't recommend ordering tacos. My friend liked her gravy burger though. Would I come here again? Most definitely. Would I order those tacos again? Most definitely not. Overall though, I'd say go get your Groupon, sit back & enjoy. read more

Great service and a great set-up. After reading some low reviews on food, I ordered with low expectations. My concerns were completely unnecessary. My kids loved their burgers. The fries were thick and crispy. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and they were good. If I have one small complaint, it's that the tables are slightly slanted toward your person. There's a very small designer "lip" that runs along the table, and looks as though it was made to prevent sliding plates, however, it's at the top of the table instead of the bottom. --useless. Tables installed incorrectly? For adults, it's all good. But with a party of 6 young kids, you cannot even imagine how many times, dinner plates, desserts, plates of fries, cups of ketchup and drinks with ice and liquid, slid off of the tables and into their laps!! Food and ice flying. Ketchup spraying. Kids shrieking. I would clean one kid up and sit down and another would shriek and be covered in ketchup and ice chips too. --It was as entertaining as the movie itself. I would absolutely come again though. Trying to pass off rolling office chairs as movie seats. I went to watch avengers here and after buying my tickets kind I found out my "seat" was a rolling office chair in the handicap aisle, about not even a high quality one. The chair squealed was uncomfortable and after a two hour movie my back was killing me. There was absolutely no indication this wasn't a real seat (see picture), and we were charged full price for these "seats". When I talked to the manager that night about it he tried convincing me some people actually prefer these seats and didn't offer so much as an apology, only saying "we're probably getting more seats next year". Horrible experience which annoyed me through out the movie, not to mention the price of these tickets were $11 each, which is more expensive than the local cinema next right to my house which I didn't go to because they didn't have assigned seating. We liked this place! And we go to movies all the time. It's big and clean and just really cool. We really appreciated the free movie passes for their first two weeks- so nice! I was pretty sure that the time online for our movie was 1:45 but when they got there they said it was 1:25. Not sure about that mistake but I thought I had checked several times. I really like that when you purchase your tickets they show you a screen and you can pick your own seats, seeing which ones are full and which ones are available. I kind of hate sitting right next to strangers at a movie so this is a great feature. However, since we were late and the movie was just starting, we didn't exactly remember what seats we picked and no one guided us in so at the end of the movie we realized we were in the wrong seats the whole time. Hope that didn't cause a problem for anyone! The seats are great- totally unique- they are movie seats with a school-desk like tray that moves over your lap. They have cup holders but they are farther back on the arm of your seat which I liked. The seats are comfortable and roomy and not very close to each other so you have your own personal space (a big plus though I couldn't figure out how to cuddle with my husband!) There is also a ton of leg room, though that's where the servers walk so you still have to be mindful of that throughout the movie. They give you a menu when you get your tickets. I love the menu- they have a great and varied selection and it was hard to choose what I wanted. I can't wait to try their dessert- they have warm cookies! You don't have the same server the whole time- many people help you and walk through the theatre but you have a service button which is cool so they aren't walking around or in front of you the whole time to check on you- you can control when they come by. We appreciated that most of the servers bent down when they walked through (though I felt bad that their backs probably hurt by the end of their shift)- they seemed very courteous. We had the crunch chicken tenders. The honey mustard sauce was especially good and the tenders were delicious (though not crunchy at all)- great flavor! Perfect temperature too. You can get them with regular fries, sweet potato fries, or tortilla chips. We chose the tortilla chips and they came with salsa too- score! When we ordered we said we were sharing it, but they only brought out one napkin and one plate and one fork- I tore the napkin in half and it worked OK but it would have been nice if we were able to share the meal better. I felt a little bad pushing the service button (it took about 10 minutes for them to come) to ask for refills on our free water because we were up in the totally far corner of the theatre, but the server was super kind and came back quickly with fresh cups of water (and they are good size too). We go to a lot of movies at the other movie/food place and love it there too but this was a very different experience- less distracting, less interrupting, quieter, and you get much more personal space. Also, I like how much seating there is in the lobby as you wait. I also really like the website. The bathroom seemed to have too few stalls- cool mirrors, though. Happy people working. Good sound and screen. We thought it seemed well organized and the service was very good. I don't think they even said there is a minimum order per person- that is so refreshing! We are excited that this theatre is in Wheaton and look forward to visiting again and again. read more

This time was a little different, we arrived for the late viewing of the color purple and the experience started off well we were served drinks by the manager who was very nice but was leaving for the night. We had a whole theater to ourselves which was surprisingly nice . We ordered food appetizers popcorn and entrees which all came at the same time,during the movie the lady apologized and offered to replace items but it was to late the only thing good by then was the company and the movie. Popcorn,chicken nachos,cold and chicken tenders cold and hard .suffice it to say we enjoyed the movie because we were forgotten about. Not paying super close attention when I was buying tickets to see Star Wars, I accidentally purchased tickets from Studio Movie Grill. Having had a huge breakfast, I wasn't thrilled that I was inadvertently going to a dine-in movie theater where I didn't plan to dine. I anticipated plate clanking and talking, BUT - I was pleasantly surprised. The ticket taker hands out menus as soon as people are entering the theater, and the waitstaff is pretty diligent about encouraging folks to get their orders in before the movie starts. The eating and delivering of food really wasn't as big of a distraction as I expected, so I was happy about that. The seats are decently comfortable, and though they don't truly recline, you can lean back in them. Thing is, you have this highchair-like table sitting in front of you (cause you typically go here to eat) which can be kind of uncomfortable to maneuver if you aren't eating. I can't speak to the food because I didn't order any, but the staff was nice, and any movie interruption was pretty minimal - maybe just slightly above the normal amount you might expect with people getting up to go to the bathroom, ect. read more
