Stopped in after our hockey game for a bite to eat. I ordered the Canyon burger, son had the Bronco burger and hubby had the painters sink. My burger was very good. A little overcooked for my taste but still very juicy and very filling. I have never had jam on a burger before today. I will be adding that to burgers from now on though. My son and husband both enjoyed their meals as well. This is a very small little hole in the wall. Only had to wait a few minutes to be seated but service was a tad slow especially considering that it wasn't too crowded. I would go back again if I lived in the area. One of my co-workers is on a quest to try all 21 places to grab a burger in Kalamazoo according to Discover Kalamazoo. So of course I had to join her on this journey. Neither of us had been to Studio Grill before so it was the first place we chose, plus they are open for lunch which makes it easier for us. We arrived about 11:45am hoping to beat the lunch time crowd, but everyone else must have thought the same thing. We had nearly a 20 minute wait. The Studio Grill has small 4-top tables throughout and counter seating. Framed photos are showcased through the restaurant, which are also for sale. I did not realize that nearly all their burgers were stuffed, but that was okay since I'm game for nearly everything. I chose the Avocado Burger stuffed with sauteed onion, topped with avocado & swiss cheese. I really liked it. And I also thought the fries were some of the best I had. Our waitress was very nice and explained in quite detail some of the items on the menu, along with a little about the restaurant. The place is clean and service pretty fast for as busy as it was. Great place that I will definitely be back since I hear their pancakes are delicious. read more

The owner has the right team in place. Food: most of menu is creative burgers. Like weird creative, but good. Most are stuffed with something. Waiter suggested his favorite: jalapeño stuffed burger, with bacon, fried egg and grape jelly. I would typically not order that, but I had strong confidence in his recommendation. So went with it. My wife ordered the burger stuffed with blueberries. Yes, blueberries. My daughter got the avocado burger, but was tempted by the bacon and peanut butter burger. I also ordered soup. Clearly home made from scratch and delicious. The burgers: Just wow! Who'd a thunk grape jelly on a burger with jalapeños is a good thing!?! It was a spectacular flavor combination. The blueberry burger was really good too. I'm not an avocado fan, but tried it. Tasted like I thought it would. Fries are really tasty too. Think then are battered. They also have other fries options, like sweat potato and Cajun. I just really liked this place. As we were walking out, every single employee said goodbye to us. I am so used to the nonchalant greeting or indifference at most places that i forgot what its like to be genuinely thanked for your patronage. It felt good keep it up Studio Grill. Honest coffee, not frilly or overly complicated but a solid cup! Omelette was the wake me up with a chipotle pesto which was so good. Bacon and spinach overflowing. I am going to give this disclaimer before I review it. I am one of those reviewers that loves to see the good in everything. I hate giving bad reviews or being one of those that reviews a place and only gives it three stars. So I made a promise with my partner, that I will come back to this place and try one of their burgers and update this review. ------ I visited Studio Grill on October 11th, 2019, and I went for lunch. I was craving breakfast for lunch and my partner was meeting me for lunch and we searched Yelp and this place was close and highly rated. It is also very inexpensive. I ordered the Morning Skillet. It was only $6.94, can't beat that for as much food as it said it came with. My partner got the Sausage Hash. That was also only $6.94. In a short amount of time, the food arrives. It was super fast. So that was cool because we were eating lunch and had to go back to work soon so it was perfect for a fast lunch. I took a picture of my food before I started to eat, attached that. I started to eat it and felt sick. It was just not appetizing. The gravy was overpowering the rest of the food underneath it. The eggs in the omelet underneath were wet (Which some people love, including my partner). I didn't prefer it because the gravy is and I personally think that it shouldn't have been. I didn't care for the food at all. My partner and I switched food and I ate the rest of the Sausage Hash and it was good. There was gravy on this dish too. I just scooped most of it off. (If I got this again I would just ask for light gravy, I just didn't know what to expect.) The food portions are big. Enough food for breakfast and dinner. The service was good. The server was nice. There was a giant sign on the wall in front of us that they were voted Michigan's Best Burger in 2013, so next time I go I will try one of their burgers. Most of the reviews on here state that they are amazing. Overall: I will give this place 3 stars but again, I will go back and try more things and update my review every time. Stopped in with my boyfriend for our first time here and in Kalamazoo. Immediately upon entering we were told there'd be a 20 minute wait for a table of two. No numbers taken, just a name. We wanted coffee so we walked a block down to grab a cup then came back. When we showed up the second time the wait staff seemed flustered and lacked an organized system for the wait list. We were seated and it took a good 10 minutes to be asked what we'd like to drink. The waitress Caitlin basically took our drink orders for us, agreeing we'd just like water since we had coffee already- gave off an unwelcoming vibe. Her service was continuously off-putting and passive aggressive. I asked for no bacon with my order and to give it to my boyfriend and she brought it out with the bacon on top of my food. After setting the plate down she said she'd bring a plate out for the bacon separate... instead I just put it on my boyfriends plate. She came out with a plate and said "oh great you figured it out yourselves" in a fake tone. She never once asked us how our food was- passing by us several times throughout our meal and at one point she was eating in front of customers behind the counter. The owner struck up friendly conversation towards the end, possibly noticing our distaste for our waitress because he seemed to genuinely wonder how our experience/meal was. When Caitlin came back with the check and our card, she couldn't have seemed more fake while saying "have a nice day". Not sure what her issue was, but her service was nothing short of unfriendly and condescending. Although most of the servers seemed kind, Caitlin doesn't seem like a positive addition to this restaurant and it put a damper on our overall experience. Other than that, the food was pretty good! I ordered the vegan pancakes which were delicious and my boyfriend enjoyed his meal. I would like to give this place another chance with the hopes of better service! read more

Studio Grill is my new favorite restaurant in Kalamazoo. Not only do they offer killer food, they know how to run a business. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, so dont plan on having dinner here (more on this later). I'll talk about the business in a minute, let's first talk about the food. I was immediately at odds with myself about what to order, should I go with breakfast or would I regret not trying one of their famous burgers? The struggle is real people, just wait until you see their menu! I ended up going with the Kirby Burger and a side of Cajun Fries. After reading the description, my mind was made up: stuffed with bleu cheese and topped with more bleu cheese, serrano sauce, bacon, and a fried egg. BOOM! It was as delicious as it sounds. Add a butter bun to the above description and you have a little slice of heaven. The Cajun Fries were also really good. The Sweet Potato Fries are also really good but what I would consider run-of-the-mill so if you're trying to decide between the two, go for the Cajun to try something different. For what it's worth, my son had the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes and they were fantastic. Fluffy buttermilk pancakes with cinnamon chips - delicious! Those with diabetes - stay away from these unless you want to go out with a bang or have your insulin handy. Their Barista menu is also unique and full of deliciousness. I wanted to try at least half of the menu. The wife and I ended up trying to Peanut Butter Mocha. Again, a diabetics nightmare, but oh-so-delicious. Homemade whip cream with peanut butter in every sip. Now about the business... This is one place that has nailed the balance between supporting your customers and not killing your employees. One of the owners was walking around chatting up each table the morning we were there and I told him I wished they were open for dinner. He told me he had worked in corporate / food industry for many years and was done working so many hours. Bravo, sir. Bravo. Not only am I jealous, I tip my hat to you. I'm sure you're employees love you. After telling him how much we all loved his food, the table next to us said something similar in that the Scramble/Hash was the best he'd ever had. I just had my third visit to Studio Grill, and I've sampled all three of their strong suits: Breakfast, Lunch, and Vegetarian food. All are winners. This place is a gem! First visit: lunch. I had the Mark's Pesto Burger -- fresh spinach and cheddar stuffed inside a fresh beef burger, topped with house-made pesto, bacon, and Swiss cheese. It was as gorgeous as it was scrumptious. House-cut fries were super good and stayed crispy. Their house-made chipotle sauce was great to dip fries in. Second visit: breakfast. I ordered the Morning Madness (a special: biscuits topped with eggs over easy, American cheese, bacon, and sausage gravy). Super filling, and not remotely dainty. Side of cajun fries -- tasty, but not as good as the regular fries. Third visit: vegan lunch. I ordered the Vegan Texas Tank burger - a veggie burger from Ope's (a local vegan food business) topped with house-made vegan chili and house-made hummus. Very tasty, and very hearty. Side of sweet potato fries. These, I learned, are not cut on-site like the other fries. Good, but still can't compare to their regular fries. Every time I've been there the service has been excellent -- speedy, friendly, and well-informed. I've also been checked upon every time by a gentleman who seems to be the owner. Clearly, these folks care. It seems like a number of businesses have occupied this location in the last decade. Studio Grill has been there for almost three years and I hope they stay for a long time. Obligatory negative comment: I'd love to eat here for dinner or late-night, but they're open for breakfast and lunch only. read more

Studio Grill, How did I know not know about your awesomeness until now? You are such a gem in Kzoo! The menu is very unique and even a little entertaining to read. It covers all of the bases- the breakfast list is vast and they have a wide lunch/dinner selection as well. When we came there was a small wait because they had a full house (it's a smaller space). I picked right up on the fact that they have a loyal breakfast following in around town. I haven't been here for lunch yet, but I nearly ordered a lunch dish for breakfast because it sounded so good. The prices are great and the quality is excellent. Our waited was very attentive and the manager*(owner?) came right over during our meal and asked us how everything was. Not a single person out of our group of 7 left unsatisfied. I will definitely be back. Seal of approvals: Their Serrano Sauce. This is awesome with their omelets. Spicy! Watch out. One of the nice things about the location is that there is a bookstore next door to sift through as you wait for a table. Meal and service were great! We were doing some shopping downtown today and stopped in for lunch. This place had been on our list to try for a couple of years but given the limited hours they are open, we always thought of going there after they had closed for the day. My boyfriend and I both got the "Lee's Old Classic". It's a burger stuffed with mushroom and American cheese and topped with more mushrooms. So so so good! My boyfriend's dad got the olive burger. My boyfriend's son got chocolate chip pancakes. They both raves about their food too. I got regular fries and boyfriend got Cajun. The fries were great and he said the Cajun were great too. The service was great too - greeted warmly when we entered, our waitress was super nice and attentive. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated because it was so busy! But after the meal we had, we can see why. We will definitely be back - and I'm looking forward to trying some of the other burgers they offer. read more

I've been here twice for breakfast and cannot wait to go again. This is now one of my top three breakfast places in Kalamazoo. The staff was very friendly. A man (I think he was the owner) stopped by our table several times to check on us and banter a bit. I tried the Morning Skillet~ an opened faced omelet w/ sausage and American fries, and sausage gravy and melted Cheddar cheese. I added a side of two blueberry pancakes. Everything was delicious. Be sure to try the jelly. I'm told it is homemade. Both the strawberry and raspberry were great. On the downside, the space is small and there isn't really any type of waiting area. You may have to stand near tables while you are waiting, but the wait is worth it! I'm interested in going back for lunch to try one of the stuffed burgers that are getting such great reviews. Three of us made a stop at the Studio Grill in Downtown Kalamazoo this weekend and we were not disappointed. This small restaurant rescued my taste buds from all of the boring places that had be to in the last few months. The menu is awesome with everything made fresh. My wife had the Vegetarian Panini, I had the Corned Beef Panini, and my friend had the Sweet and Spicy Pineapple stuffed burger. All of our meals were delicious, and we will be back for more. There is no alcohol served here, but you soon forget since you are in food heaven. My Corned Beef Panini was custom made with a jalapeno wrap, and I had them add jalapeno slices to spice it up. This sandwich served hot is now one of my favorites in SW Michigan. The hand cut fries were great, but I think that I will try the hand cut sweet potato fries on my next visit. The only disappointing thing about my visit to the Studio Grill is that they were out of the home-made hummus. Another couple that came in also wanted the hummus but there were out at the time. The Studio Grill in downtown Kalamazoo is close to the Raddison and should not be overlooked for a good meal. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and should not be overlooked. read more

A fun little place to grab a bite for a variety of different tastes. Quite a laid back establishment where the rule is friendliness and the environment casual with much comfort foods abound. Our party was able to partake in the chicken wraps, the apple pie pancakes and the sausage hash with quite the positive views all about. The checkered table cloths and bar smack in the middle add to a charm which allowed everyone to be comfortable at the same time allowing service and conversation to flow easily.
