You MUST choose Rochelle as your stylist! Rochelle has been my stylist for over 10 years and honestly, if she moved out of state, I would fly there every 4-5 weeks just to continue having Rochelle color/cut my hair! From the first visit I had with Rochelle, I realized she was unique and that she knew her stuff about hair! Rochelle TALKED to me, and gave me a full consultation, rather than just asking, "So, what are we doing with your hair today?" Rochelle stays educated on all the latest styles, techniques, colors, etc and has NEVER steered me wrong, when I've sat in her chair and told her, "Just do something different!" or "I want a change, what do you suggest?" Rochelle absolutely knows hair types and I have never met a stylist who is so genuinley interested in consulting you and informing you about YOUR hair. Not only does Rochelle use a consultative approach; she is an awesome listener too! So she'll make sure you leave feeling very happy with your new style or color. Rochelle is accomodating to your schedule, even sometimes when a last-minute appointment is requested. She is extremely personable and just wonderful to be around. Rochelle's talent as a professional stylist and colorist far surpasses anyone I have EVER gone to! I am a natural brunette (with serious gray at the crown) and I've been a beautiful shade of cherry coke (red) for over a year now, and have gotten so many compliments on my hair! I sincerely hope you will try Rochelle for your next salon visit. You will leave thrilled and beautiful! read more

Rochelle is the best hair dresser I have ever had! I am so glad I stumbled into her chair shortly after moving to Chicago, eight years ago. She really knows how to make you look your best. Most of the time I let her do whatever she wants with my hair, and I have never been disappointed. She's the expert not me. If I am looking for something specific and what I am asking for is not going to work with my hair, she is honest and tells me straight out that it will not work, but always follow up with other options that will work and are in keeping with what I was looking for. She wants you to look and feel your best! I always get lots of compliments on my hair after going to see her for a cut / color. Even my unobservant male friends notice after I have been to see Rochelle - now that is saying a lot! Appointments always go by too fast if you ask me. Rochelle is down to earth, hilarious and extremely easy to talk to. Just an all around great woman. She really gets to know her clients. She always remembers the key things we discussed about life, etc. at my last appointment and is genuine when she ask how things are, ended up, etc. She is the best by far! read more

Rochelle Prette is a true professional and utterly fantastic at her job. I remember when I first relocated to Chicago ten years ago and I was looking for someone to cut my hair. I called down to the salon in my office building and was asking about availability, prices, etc. and finally I said to the woman on the phone with me--"well, who cuts your hair?" and I'll never forget her response--so matter of fact: "No one cuts my hair except Rochelle!"--so of course, I had to get an appointment with Rochelle and I've been so happy with my hair needs ever since. Rochelle is just so great at what she does--she listens to every concern and always offers incredible ideas and creative solutions. Whatever you are looking for she will listen to and do and concentrate on and give you the best possible service for your money. She makes you feel so at ease and like you've known her your whole life and she is just so great and fun and positive to be around. She loves life, she loves what she does and it shines through in every way. You will not be disappointed and will find a stylist for life. read more

Typically I don't write reviews good or bad, but when I do it is because whatever I'm wirting about was either so awful I want to do my part to make sure others don't have go through it or because it is so great I want to make sure someone else has the chance to experience it. The latter is the case with Rochelle and Studio 8. I am a bit hesitant to let this secret spot out of the bag because I love how easy it is to schedule an appointment to get my haircut, but if anyone deserves an increase in business it's Rochelle. She has been cutting (NOT USING CLIPPERS like at Supercuts) my hair for the last 7 years. She does a great job and always makes sure my hair looks right. I know what I'm going to get every time I visit her and that is a great haircut and good laugh. I would highly recommend going to see Rochelle if you are a guy who is looking for a real haircut. I promise you won't walk out Studio 8 looking like every other guy who is getting their haircut at one of the chain hair cut stores. read more

Turns out she is a color wizard! My hair has never looked so awesome. The color is so rich and shiny and I can't say enough about how great my cut was and still is as it's growing out! She uses 100% certified organic color that no one else has!!! I happen to love organic and I love my hair! I can't say enough about what a great hairdresser Rochelle Prette is. I have been going to her for almost 12 years and I have never once been even slighlty disappointed with my cut and/or color. And over the years, I have sent other people to see her and all the reviews have been glowing. This woman knows her stuff. In fact, after one appointment with Rochelle, I had a women follow me off a train to tell me how beautiful my hair was and she just had to know who my stylist was. My most recent encounter with Rochelle was at my friends wedding this past weekend. I recommend her to style the bride's hair, as well as the entire bridal party. Rochelle and her assistant were punctual, professional, fun to be around and made us all look fantastic. I got compliments all night long about how great my hair looked. Filomena Fiore, Filly, has been cutting and coloring my hair for 10 years and doing a terrific job. She really listens to what I want my hair to do and how I want it to look and makes it happen. She makes great product recommendations and tries different styles of blow outs so I can experiment with different looks. Filly has also lightened my eyebrows and they looked great as well. She has a lovely, sweet personality and a great sense of humor. She has become a real friend over the years and I recommend her often. Filly once squeezed my 8 year old nephew in for a cut while I was babysitting one weekend when I was scheduled for a cut. She made him feel very special and grown up! The salon itself is very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. It is always a a very pleasant experience to visit Filly and my hair always looks great. You won't be disappointed! read more

Filly is wonderful! She has been my hair dresser - cutting and highlightimg my hair - for over 10 years and I always love my hair. Every now and then, between the two of us, we decide to change my hairsyle. If it's my idea, she listens to me but she also knows what will look good on me. I can bring in a picture and she'll work with me. I often get compliments on my color and cut. Filly has a terrific personality and the time always flies when I'm there. She's a lot of fun - I love going to see her. The studio is new, has a very nice "feel" and is contemporary. Her prices are very reasonable for a downtown studio. I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone. read more

Filomena has been doing my hair for a number of years and I don't know what I would do without her. Fabulous hairdresser. I like that she takes time to ask you questions about your hair and style you are looking for and is not afraid to provide guidance. Filomena doesn't try to sell you what doesn't look good on you and she only suggests products, if you ask about them. The salon is nice and comfortable and conveniently located on Wabash between Washington and Madison. I recommend Filomena to my friends and family and highly recommend her to anyone else reading this review. She truly is a great hairdresser and person! Lucy read more

Rochelle's creative efforts in Studio 8 can be compared to artistic genius as far as I am concerned. Her eye for color is remarkable! She works fast and efficiently without making you feel like she is rushing. I always have fun when I am there at Studio 8 and leave looking like a brand new woman! Rochelle is funny (you will laugh your way through your appointment), easy-going, extremely accommodating and talented beyond my mere review. I am a brunette, and she gets color, cut and style beautifully. She did my hair for my wedding too! Stayed beautiful for well over 12 hours, as did my mom's and sisters. Have been getting my hair cut by Rochelle since she "did" all the brides maids for my friend's wedding. I work off Michigan Ave. so her location is perfect! It's above the 'Tilted Kilt' on Wabash so I'll often grab a Guinness before or after or before and after. This may have pushed my rating from "Ya, I'm a fan" to "Woohoo! As good as it gets!". Hair cuts with Rochelle are fun, I always walk out better looking and feeling good! Highly recommend this place. read more
