The space is so beautiful and the people are so incredibly welcoming, students of all ages, bodies, and backgrounds come there and everyone is welcome! There is no judgement from anyone there, so even as a beginner I always felt safe. The space is always clean and the skylights in the studio space are so unique and beautiful! I've taken classes with a few teachers and they've all been great, but my personal favorite is Andrea so I will speak more so about her classes. I take Andrea's morning classes on Tuesdays and Fridays and I always have the BEST time! She is so knowledgeable and such a talented teacher, you can tell she really loves the practice of yoga. Andrea is thorough, patient, kind, and makes class both challenging and super fun! No matter if you're a beginner or more advanced, she is the teacher for you. She knows how to make adjustments and modifications for every pose based on your skill level, so everyone can thrive even if there's many different student levels in the same class. She's so uplifting and encouraging to everyone, it's definitely always the type of class that you always leave feeling great about. 10/10 I recommend grassroots. I'm moving away soon and I will miss it dearly. Best spot in the Hudson valley for yoga and wellness!

The staff was super friendly and explained in detail how and why we were doing what we were doing. Everyone working out was very welcoming especially the trainers. Needless to say I had a great workout and learned some new stretching and warm up exercises I could try in my room. I started training with Sean, Ken and Cat and felt results after only one week. After a month or two the weight was coming off and all i did was attend classes and make some minor changes to my diet. After 6 months I was down 40 lbs and felt in the best shape of my life and again I only changed a few things in my diet. At the age of 50 i was able to achieve my life long dream of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa! I had given up on this dream and only when i became an Orca member did I find the new lease on life and saw the possibility of fulfilling this dream. Roberta's Hot 26 classes are challenging but very supportive; I adore her, and I'm completely addicted. MaryRose will make every muscle in your body burn, and you'll feel like a superhero when you survive her class. Tara is the velvet hammer, and Marilyn does a great job of explaining the poses. (I'd recommend Marilyn's class if you're new to hot yoga, although she also challenges experienced yogis.) Mary plays the best music; if you want to jam out during your asana practice, go to her Friday night class. I honestly couldn't love this place more. I have nothing negative to say. Show up early to get a parking spot, because classes are often packed, for good reason.

It's a small studio with two yoga/workout rooms but has a HUGE community feel. Drop in class are $20 but they offer tons of packages from class cards to full membership. Besides yoga they offer Pilates, tai chi, cardio, personal training and specialized workshops/events. Gentle Yoga @4PM on Sunday is led by Liz Lazo who added a little bit of Zen via starting with meditation (a bit more than breath in/out) before guiding us through the gentle yoga practice. It was a small class just 2 people so she tailored the class to our needs (back/hips). She is excellent but since she's also my cousin I will list her bio not written by me! Liz Lazo has been practicing yoga for over 13 years and has received instruction in Hatha, Iyengar, Kripalu & Vinyasa styles. She earned her 200 Hour Vinyasa Teacher Training certificate through Living Yoga with Liz Schulman and Richard Villella in March 2013. Liz is a registered member of Yoga Alliance. In addition, she attained the First Degree of Reiki through Ginny Mackles in March 2011 and applies the principles to her work as a yoga student and instructor. According to an article from Marathon Handbook "CrossFit, like most types of exercise, isn't necessarily inherently bad for you or dangerous; however, one of the primary risks of CrossFit workouts is getting injured." I have seen and experienced improper form or technique during CrossFit workouts which can increase the risk of injuries, reason 1, why I left. Overtraining or pushing oneself too hard without proper rest and recovery can lead to burnout or fatigue, reason 2, why I left. Even though they start new comers with "foundational workouts" I wouldn't recommend this type of workout training if you're a new beginner in your fitness journey. If you do decide to join, listen to your body and explore other places to workout. There are better alternatives for beginners.
