Lisa is one of my favorite yoga instructors because she creates such a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. I came into class with terrible lower back pain and left feeling lighter, more flexible, and so much better overall. Her guidance is thoughtful and clear, her energy is uplifting, and she has a true gift for helping the body heal through movement. The way she teaches makes feel confident and empowered in my yoga practice. I can't recommend her classes enough! read more

Alma is a special place. I started attending classes almost 9 years ago, and whether I'm attending frequently or just once or twice a month, Alma has always felt like home. It was great! Did a Hot Yoga session. I'm a dude, everyone else in the class was female, which is cool, it's definitely geared toward the ladies. Which is cool just an honesty review. We had some cool pop music playing, but I prefer the meditative music. Great stuff overall! read more

I did not want to like this place, and I'm not sure why other then loyalty to my own yoga teacher. I will say that I enjoyed it thoroughly. The class was an hour and 15 minutes and it was fluid. It was gentle, and I felt that every bone in my body was duly stretched. The instructor came by to make sure that I was doing a pose correctly and reminded us to listen to our bodies not to her if something was uncomfortable. For those of you here in this area that are interested in yoga, this is a great place to start. It seemed judgment free, and beginners could blend. Studio B would be my choice. Studio "A" is hot yoga a few doors down. The one class I took was $18. I was told by the instructor that that is not out of line with the area. I had been doing yoga at home for about two years and hadn't really been interested in going to classes for yoga, let alone warm or hot yoga, since I thought that would be too sweaty and uncomfortable. Finally a friend talked me into it and now I wish I would have gone sooner. The instructors at Alma yoga are incredibly knowledgeable and very personable. The whole vibe at Alma is wonderful and I surprisingly LOVE the warm and hot classes. Not only do the classes make you feel like you are doing something great for your physical health, it helps bring such a powerful sense of peace and connection! Very nice , clean studio. Staff was friendly . This was one of my first yoga classes . I went to the flow and let go class which was for all levels . I had some difficulty following with the class at times but overall it was a good class. Mats, blocks, pillows are provided if needed. One class was $18 . Absolutely obsessed with this place. I joined as a new student a month ago (they have this awesome deal where it's $35 for your first month, unlimited classes). Sadly mine expired a couple days ago and I cannot renew because it's too expensive for me (I'm a student). However, I would recommend this place one million times over. The facility is perfectly clean and fresh smelling, classes always start on time, they do not overbook the amount of students per class, and the instructors are absolutely amazing. I am a fitness instructor as well and the amount of professionalism and care that they all put into each class is absolutely amazing. I have not attended a single class I did not enjoy. Please note that within my month, I attended somewhere around 20-25 hot yoga classes with various instructors. I would like to also note that although hard to choose, my favorite instructor was Darryl as he was always enabling his students to broaden their horizon and try new poses. One week I couldn't do one of the poses and was able to do it successfully the following week which just added to my experience. I also really enjoyed Ishia. She has a strong and positive "can-do" mindset that I really enjoyed. I joined because a friend nagged me to try out a hot yoga class (I'm not really into normal yoga) but I am open to try anything once and was pleasantly surprised when I fell in love with the practice. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Alma Yoga. I've been to many yoga studios, mostly in Manhattan. The philosophy, wisdom and genuine love (including SELF love) expressed by each teacher is palpable. This studio and its teachers are magic! First time back to yoga after several years. it was a horrible experience. Several of us were standing waiting to sign in running about 5 min late, when the instructor came out and yelled at us " you are late and holding everyone up and it wont happen again" I was taken back, my daughter was with me whom I had been trying to get to yoga for years, she said she wanted to leave.I assured her and we did the class anyway. The instructor was fast paced and you couldn't really see her from where we were. Their was no real calm to her class or focus on breathing and halfway through her class she walked around and sat in the front and just gave verbal instruction. She also chose to reiterate her scolding at the end of the class.I have been to hot yoga this is not it.P.S the class is $5 and my daughter paid $10 and never got her change back. I suggest the instructor get her chi in order before she address's her clients, Namaste. read more

I recently moved to Newburgh and was looking for a new yoga studio and Alma had a great new student deal - unlimited classes for $35 - so I decided to give it a try. Within a week I was hooked and have been going almost every day. I've since purchased a year long package because they had a deal around the holidays. I have been picky about yoga classes in the past, but all the teachers I've met at Alma have been amazing and there is a wonderful vibe to the place. I love both the regular classes and warm classes (which I never thought I would!). I'm so happy to have found such a wonderful studio close to my new home. read more

The upstairs meditation room is the perfect place to spend the entire winter in! Check our their "goodnight yogi" class on Monday nights. I am a 47 year old out of shape female. I was looking for a new exercise option that would help manage my stress issues. Alma Yoga opened in this location, which is very convenient. I came in for the Basic Yoga course and was worked more that i had ever been worked in a gym setting. 7 months later and i am still coming back. I have tried the various classes and instructors and find each challenging and different, which keeps me from being bored. After an hour, i feel like i have accomplished something and feel that stress has been alleviated. I find i sleep better. My fellow "yogis" are welcoming and come from all walks of life, old, young, men, women, a few kids. But the classes are run with the focus being that it is your practice and there is no judgement. The practice area has special mat floors and while i do not do "hot" yoga i have tried "warm" yoga which really was a challenge but i felt like i sweated lots of bad out. The studio is open, light, and clean. The studio also has mats to borrow when getting started. Alma Yoga offers many ways to take classes with various payment plans. The owner is very business savy and it doing great at advertising and offering all different classes and workshops. For someone like me so new to yoga, i can only say, you won't regret giving Alma Yoga a try. read more
