I tried the sauna then a cold plunge. I only lasted 10 seconds in the cold plunge but it was well worth it. Next time I go back I'm trying the floatation capsule. I'll definitely be going back next weekend!

Was condescending and told me how new her type of practice would be new (despite being a long time yogi and attending acupuncture - the meridian flow was initially of interest but she did not ask just made assumptions). Too many cues for her subjective versions of Standard asana, and yet was condescending and corrective as if there on right way to do yoga. Very clear that she has her following and calling out people as if they are doing things "wrong" because they don't put their palms up, down, or sideways is the antithesis of yoga. Her over cued practice was distracting - long warm up with minimal sequence for a flow not dynamic. As a practitioner of over 20 years, I've taken classes with amazing, knowledgeable teachers and have learned to trust myself. l, and recovering from injury while trying to find grounding is what I need and did not find this a safe space to practice. She's clearly very experienced and intuitive. She asked me about my preferences for heat, oils, and pressure and really paid attention to the areas where I told her I was having pain. I loved the heat that she used to either warm up an area, or to keep it warm after she had worked on it. This was not a generic, run of the mill massage. I'll be back again for sure.

I also really love the pose variation and the sometimes more stretchy liquidy feel of the flows. Mara is without a doubt the best instructor I've gotten to practice with; her cues are so clear and make you engage muscles/soften things you didn't even notice, and her guidance is so gentle and suggestive that it isn't as "now this now this now this" as sometimes classes can feel. I look forward to her class all week I almost feel myself chilllllll out as I walk in on Sundays. Another really important thing for me is that NP Rock is most welcoming, non-elitist, accepting yoga community and it's so purposeful that it makes me want to contribute to the feeling, too. The no judgement really allows me to just show up and focus on myself and my own practice. The energy of this place is so genuine and special and I can't recommend it enough. I started attending classes at NN in 2023, during its first iteration and am happily continuing to sink into my movement and healing journeys under its fantastic new stewards Catherine and May. They've recently added so many exciting new classes to the schedule; it's positively brimming with enticing offerings. If I hadn't decided to spring for a membership I'd definitely be having trouble choosing which classes to attend. The membership is more than worth the investment! As someone who was born and raised in the Hudson Valley, I'm so grateful that community-minded spaces like this exist. I'm always on the lookout for studios that center inclusivity and don't shy away from the full energetic spectrum of healing -- not just the white-washed, toxic positivity kinds that can too often accompany many healing modalities. There is so much value in being allowed the space to experience whatever comes up on your own terms within the walls of this beautiful, light-filled studio.
