I haven't been to a gym in a while so I decided to take my fitness more serious. I visited many gyms in the area including Crunch, Orange Theory, Planet Fitness and Mike Arteaga's. I settled on Fit Social after passing by it on Main Street and stopping in for a tour. First of all, the owner Steve, is very passionate about his studio. He personally showed me around and told me about his values and his future goals for the business. I was really impressed. Steve is local to the area and I really believe in supporting local. The memberships offer a wide range of options. You can purchase class packs, join a challenge or do the unlimited option. I chose the unlimited option because I need it (lol). On my first day, I joined two classes back to back: spin and HIIT. I wanted to challenge myself and also experience as many classes as possible so I can learn what my favorite is. When I told Steve, he was concerned but offered ways I could go easy. That showed me that he was invested in my health and performance. I'm sorry but you're not going to get that at a chain gym! The spin class with Jordyn was awesome. It feels like a nightclub. It is dark and there are intentionally no mirrors because they want you to focus on your internal mindset. I found it to be very comfortable and I was able to focus better on myself and not have to worry about what others were thinking of me. After spin, I attended HIIT with Steve which he turned into a small group training and it was AWESOME. It was totally unexpected. I think he did is because we were a small group. We got to use equipment that I've never touched at a large gym because I was too embarrassed to try them. He offered personal guidance and encouragement to each of us. He tailored the exorcises to meet our abilities while challenging us. I was very happy with the workout. After the training I went to the social bar for a smoothie (which was simply charged to my account - no card needed) and I got to chat with my fellow gym goers. The atmosphere was definitely inviting. It was surprisingly a great place to meet new people and network! And the smoothie was fresh, healthy and tasty. I was referred by a friend who is a member. He suggested that I see Jordyn for SPIN. I've never done spin but decided I'd give it a shot. I was not disappointed! I showed up 15mins early because I've never spun before. Brittany, the woman at the front desk, was very helpful and showed me how to set up my bike on their model bike in the front lobby and showed me the different positions that Jordyn will use during the class. This was very helpful because once we started, Jordyn kicked my butt; in a good way. I've recently recovered from ankle surgery and was iffy about doing something so intense on my ankle but spin was very low impact and I left repping the benefits of spin without the cost of any soreness in my ankle. I'm extremely excited about this and will definitely be a repeat customer. After the spin session I hit up their "Social Bar" where I ordered a Choco Nuts smoothie, which contained chocolate protein. A few of the people in my class were at the bar and we naturally conversed. It didn't seem fake or forced, just positive energy from the members and the staff. I'm an awkwardly social person so I really appreciate a place where I can just be myself. I'm really glad my friend referred me and I truly hope more socialites and fitness buffs consider dropping by. read more

Steve thought out every possible detail when designing FitSocial. When you walk in everything is modern and follows the white and black color scheme with branding throughout. The staff greets you like family the second you enter the door and the checkin process is seamless. I have taken HIIT and Spin so far and both classes resembled more of a party than a day at the gym. The workouts were great but more importantly they are enjoyable and the staff definitely delivers on the "high vibe" promise. Tonight I had a smoothie and an asian chicken wrap from the social bar that were healthy and tasted great. Since I arrived early I decided to try out the small training room which is perfect to supplement barbell and dumbbell strength training into your workouts. I love FS. The energy of the staff and other attendees motivates me to keep coming. The HIIT style workouts are perfect for me bc it keeps things interesting. I get bored easily so the constant variety is perfect for me. The trainers sincerely care about pushing me to work my hardest while also having fun. I have to disagree with the comment that the gym is "snobbish" - that is just incorrect.
