We spent 1.5 hours warming up, getting used to the flow, learning beginner level salsa, even Suzy Q salsa step. I've danced salsa for so many years but never actually took an adult dance class just for fun. It was the perfect date with my favorite +1 and such a fun way to do something different and learn something new with zero pressure. Kathryn was amazing and she made it so easy to learn. We had a full house and everyone was so fun to dance with no matter the skill set or experience, everyone was welcome. Absolutely love the revamped studio and how big and full of light the room is. There are so many classes on their schedule and so many fun things to try for adults only. Great space where no one takes themselves too seriously and you can come learn and have fun. Can't wait to do another fun class here again!

There were other beginners in a class of about 10 so that immediately made it less intimidating. Classes are $20 each and they have an unlimited option for between $100 & $115 per month. The salsa taught here is not ballroom, it's for salsa club dancing and it's taught on 2, as opposed to 1 for those who are familiar with dance terminology. There are beginner classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7 and 12 pm on Saturdays. I am told that one night they even go to a salsa club to test out moves. Overall it was a very warm and inviting experience. After teaching you the steps on your own they even conduct part of the class paired up which makes things interesting. If you're looking to learn how to dance salsa for fun or a different way to get some exercise and are in or close to the New Haven area, I would highly recommend checking out Rumberos.

The instructors are a lot of fun; they creatively teach the subtle technicalities that make a big difference. I've witnessed beginners transform to great salsa dancers from coming here. After classes, the best way to improve is to get out on the dance floor! The salsa scene in New Haven is great with a diverse crowd, not to mention friendly and smiling faces. We're new to this area and are grateful to have discovered this friendly, inspiring place. The variety of classes is great and they're planning to add more. My husband and/or I have tried the "Move, Groove and Improve", Basics/Beginner Tap and Groove3 classes. They're all different and fun! You will not be judged here. I dance for the unique mental challenges it provides(btw, there are a LOT of STEM people in some of these dance communities!), because I'm tired of being clumsy, and to increase both my bone density and balance. I'm easily bored by most exercise so dancing is really a joy.
