The best of the best FOR ALL LEVELS!! I've been coming to Grassroots on and off for yoga lessons…read morefor about 8 months now and I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. The space is so beautiful and the people are so incredibly welcoming, students of all ages, bodies, and backgrounds come there and everyone is welcome! There is no judgement from anyone there, so even as a beginner I always felt safe. The space is always clean and the skylights in the studio space are so unique and beautiful! I've taken classes with a few teachers and they've all been great, but my personal favorite is Andrea so I will speak more so about her classes. I take Andrea's morning classes on Tuesdays and Fridays and I always have the BEST time! She is so knowledgeable and such a talented teacher, you can tell she really loves the practice of yoga. Andrea is thorough, patient, kind, and makes class both challenging and super fun! No matter if you're a beginner or more advanced, she is the teacher for you. She knows how to make adjustments and modifications for every pose based on your skill level, so everyone can thrive even if there's many different student levels in the same class. She's so uplifting and encouraging to everyone, it's definitely always the type of class that you always leave feeling great about. 10/10 I recommend grassroots. I'm moving away soon and I will miss it dearly. Best spot in the Hudson valley for yoga and wellness!

I also really love the pose variation and the sometimes more stretchy liquidy feel of the flows. Mara is without a doubt the best instructor I've gotten to practice with; her cues are so clear and make you engage muscles/soften things you didn't even notice, and her guidance is so gentle and suggestive that it isn't as "now this now this now this" as sometimes classes can feel. I look forward to her class all week I almost feel myself chilllllll out as I walk in on Sundays. Another really important thing for me is that NP Rock is most welcoming, non-elitist, accepting yoga community and it's so purposeful that it makes me want to contribute to the feeling, too. The no judgement really allows me to just show up and focus on myself and my own practice. The energy of this place is so genuine and special and I can't recommend it enough. Newbies experts and anyone and everyone in between, NP Yoga is your spot!!!

And most important (for me :) the vibe here is open and genuine, and Mara is so full of knowledge. With yoga becoming more and more popular these days, teachings can get diluted, but not the case here. It's the real deal! Ever since I met Mara she has show me what it means to teach from the heart. She sees her students, she cares deeply, and she gives all of herself to this practice. This place is truly a gem (an affordable one!) Will for sure be back.

It was quite a lovely Autumn day where a group of about 10 people arranged out mats in a large circle on her property. It was very invigorating doing the poses and meditation in the brisk clean air. But more than that it was about connection to all the people and specifically Elana's professional leadership in making people feel accepted, appreciated and cared for. The 5 hours of that afternoon flew by and at the end of the day I was enriched and inspired. These kinds of gatherings are far too few for me and I would advocate to have more of them in my life.

(I'd recommend Marilyn's class if you're new to hot yoga, although she also challenges experienced yogis.) Mary plays the best music; if you want to jam out during your asana practice, go to her Friday night class. I honestly couldn't love this place more. I have nothing negative to say.
