All of the instructors bring amazing energy and the programming is unique and regularly changing, so you're never bored with a circuit or spin class. Everyone is so welcoming and honestly you can't help but feel cool when you're there. The small group training/personal training is unmatched. I've never been able to maintain a consistent work out routine, but Fit Social has changed that. I have fun in every class and I actually look forward to working out. Now, thanks to Fit Social, I am the strongest I've ever been. They also have a super convenient and yummy smoothie bar to get some post work out fuel. I recommend this gym to anyone and everyone. Practicing here was a refreshing change from the typical "commercial" studio. Gina taught a unique, wonderful flow targeting all the appropriate muscles for the poses. I'm a yoga teacher myself and tend to get caught up in the details of the teachings when I practice, however, here it was easier to just let go, stay mindful and sink into the practice as a student. I highly recommend checking this studio out!

There's also a lot of of history on the walkway - statues, markers, and small interactive signs create a cool opportunity to learn about the area. For parking on the Ulster County side be prepared to park in spots on the side of the road that are metered or in the general lot. The bridge takes 30 to 40 minutes to walk making it a great morning or afternoon activity!

I have a heart condition, so after arriving, I realized that it was simply too hot for me to safely walk across the walkway. At the entrance, I saw a sign indicating that a tram was available until 3:30 p.m. I was very grateful to see this service and understood it to be an option that would make the walkway accessible to people who may have difficulty walking the entire distance. When the tram arrived, I got on and explained to the volunteers that I was very thankful they offered this service. Unfortunately, about halfway across the walkway, the tram stopped and we were asked whether we wanted to get off there or continue to the end. I explained that I needed to return to the side where I had parked my car. I was very surprised when I was told that the tram would not take me back and that I would have to walk in the extreme heat. I became overheated while trying to make my way back. Given my heart condition, this was a frightening and potentially dangerous situation. I understand that there may be rules and limitations regarding the tram, but those limitations should be made very clear before passengers board. If the tram is not available to return passengers to their starting point, visitors--especially those with mobility or health concerns--should know that before getting on. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I would not recommend the Walkway Over the Hudson to anyone who may have difficulty walking long distances, particularly on a hot day. I hope the organization will reconsider how this service is communicated and operated so that others don't find themselves in the same situation

Designed for probably no more than 18-20 people, at first glance it looks like a big hot tub or trampoline in the River. In some ways it's a bit of both. You'll find it by meandering your way past the parking lot, beyond the sand volleyball courts, and past the basketball court to the aluminum ramp at the north edge of the park overlooking the bridge. Thankfully, the aluminum ramp means you don't need to climb sharp rocks or weed through lillypads to get into the water, instead you just walk right into the little rainbow colored plastic pool ring and land on a nylon netting that prevents you from walking on river mud. On a hot August day, it's a refreshing way to cool off and enjoy the park. You'd think that would make it busy, but in the prime afternoon heat on a Saturday, there were only 6 people in the pool, with a couple parents on the sidelines. Just in case you need a bit of privacy before getting in the pool, there are porta potties and even a curtained changing area. So many conveniences, and all without park fees. A gem for families in Beacon and for visitors who want to expand their stay beyond Dia and Main St. Bonus tip: go on Sunday and make a picnic from vendors at the local farmer's market on the river dock.

Very kids/toddler-friendly. The sizeable shallow end has several sprinklers/splash fountains for children to play in, and there are slides on both the kiddie and adult sides. Also a playground in the back (not affiliated with the pool). There are always many life guards on duty every time I've gone. The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

I've taken classes with a few teachers and they've all been great, but my personal favorite is Andrea so I will speak more so about her classes. I take Andrea's morning classes on Tuesdays and Fridays and I always have the BEST time! She is so knowledgeable and such a talented teacher, you can tell she really loves the practice of yoga. Andrea is thorough, patient, kind, and makes class both challenging and super fun! No matter if you're a beginner or more advanced, she is the teacher for you. She knows how to make adjustments and modifications for every pose based on your skill level, so everyone can thrive even if there's many different student levels in the same class. She's so uplifting and encouraging to everyone, it's definitely always the type of class that you always leave feeling great about. 10/10 I recommend grassroots. I'm moving away soon and I will miss it dearly. Best spot in the Hudson valley for yoga and wellness!
