Joe and Christian are awesome movers. They showed up on time, worked hard and had a great attitudes. They were very likable and ready to work with me or do anything as asked. I slighted student movers one star on the review because they wanted to change my move date, but switched it back when I said I couldn't also I was moving from a loft and we miscommunicated about the space in the loft. I think instead of how many rooms and appliances, perhaps it should be square feet and how members in the house hold. We needed another guy and a bigger truck and ran over estimated time. Loft living requires extra cabinets/shelves and hiding spaces to hide your stuff. Also, we had to make several trips in our car to get the remaining stuff that didn't fit. Amazing really, called same day in a bind, needed movers in Murrieta to unload a 26ft trk into a 10 by 15 storage unit. The lady who answered the phone was incredible and had a crew to me within 20mns. The guys that came were beyond professional, courteous and friendly. The best movers I have ever had. They knew exactly what to do and how to pack my storage to save space and make it easier for me to access it in the future. Hello, I just had to take a moment to review this amazing company. We had a 4 bedroom house in Murrieta that they recently moved into at the end of June 2024. Isaiah was the mover and he along with his team were very hard workers. They were polite and cared about wrapping our items and packing accordingly in the truck to make the most use out of the truck space. Student Movers crew chief called when they were on the way and moved us in efficiently and even helped with plants and our dogs! They have horrible customer service skills. I couldn't get a clear answer from the representative and her tone was shady. I called back and could hear them discussing me while I'm trying to explain to the next rep where I'm not sure if I heard correctly since she didn't want to repeat or confirm if the price was $150 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours which would cost $860. 150 x 4 does not equal 860. He said oh yea well there are extra fees so the total is $860 for 4 hours then each additional hour would be billed at $150 an hour. This company will rob you. DO. NOT. USE. THEM. I booked 2 men for 4 hours and wrote in the notes when I booked that half would go to storage and half to a house. Michelle called me to confirm the booking and quoted me $860. They showed up with 3 men, did not inform me that they would charge me additionally, the papers that I signed said $150/hr which is the rate for 2 men, and they charged me a rate for 3 men. Did not contact me prior to sending 3 men to confirm that I was ok with it. The mover asked me why I lived alone and did not have a man before we even sat down to sign paperwork. Then told me I needed to try dating older men (like himself.) The other stopped production to tell me how beautiful I was and asked the others if they agreed which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. On top of that, he sat down to "cool off" on my time. They didn't bring water for themselves and took 30 minutes on the way from my old house to my new (1.7 mile away) to stop and get drinks on the clock. They damaged my bed frame, lost bolts for the hardware kit and did not reassemble the bed at the new location. Now I have go find a way to get someone else to help me move the very big and heavy mattress so I can put the bed together. They forgot to empty my downstairs closet, which I had to do myself. Put shelves in storage that were supposed to go to the house that I had to retrieve. Also, the older man was literally walking on top of my very expensive dining table while it was on the truck to reach something behind it. He also walked on my daughters night stand. They mentioned a tip which is NOT an obligation of mine and asked me to take a thumbs up photo in front of the van. I felt too uncomfortable and pressured to say no, so I took it. Michelle tried running my card twice with the wrong address and had my bank texting me with fraud protection. I told her prior that the address was different and she finally got it right. She said $920 plus $30 on the phone after move was completed so that's what I expected. When I got the bill for $1300, I called Michelle and the first thing she did was say that I took a thumbs up photo and had no complaints at the time that the movers were there. She also hung up on my father and I 3 times, and said they did me a "favor" by sending a third man at a discounted price. When I told her she should have confirmed the 3rd man before sending him, she told me that it's because I "added" a third stop and that I went to a house and storage, and that she did not know it when I booked. Which is a LIE because it's in my booking receipt notes, as well as my quote for $860 for 4 hours, (we used 3 hours and 50 minutes exactly) including fees. Michelle screamed at me and refused to admit that she was wrong for taking it upon herself to send a third man and charge me for it without confirming or informing me. She was so sarcastic, rude, and unprofessional and REFUSED to work together to resolve my issue. She yelled at me, hung up on me, and asked if i was "mad because my card declined twice" when she was the one inputting the wrong address, and as if that's something for ME to be ashamed of. Obviously my card will decline when you put the wrong address. Totally unprofessional. To top it off, I've been calling and texting all day requesting an ITEMIZED receipt for my transaction. Instead, I get ignored and get some "receipt" for a refund of $300 and a smart-a** text saying "GAVE FREE MOVING SERVICE" in response. She refuses to send me an itemized receipt. I have reported this company to the Bureau of Consumed Affairs and the Fair Trade Commission. They tried scamming me and charging me 30% more than they should have, their website is also misleading when it mentions how you have to book minimum 4 hours but "that's not to say you'll be charged for the full 4 hours" because when she called she said anything leftover is a labor loss. They were misleading and misrepresented themselves severely via phone and online. I am in disbelief at how rude and ridiculous my encounter with Michelle was. She truly needs to be fired. It is my opinion that the following is factual: I originally booked two movers for my move because I had just done the same move one year ago with two movers and it went smoothly. I called the morning of the move to confirm everything and I was told it would be four movers, not two. When I asked why, since that wasn't what I agreed to, Michelle proceeded to yell at me and berate me. She said that there was no way any moving company in the world would do that move with only two guys. She also said that she would only charge me for $13/hour per mover. If they would have simply called or emailed me in advance to explain their policy it would not have been an issue. Instead, they doubled my movers to get more money out of me. I agreed at the time because I had to get the move done that day. I couldn't cancel. To say that she was unprofessional would be a massive understatement. I was provided a one-hour window from 9-10 AM in which the movers would show up at the storage facility. I got there before 9 AM and waited over an hour before they showed up after 10 AM. He originally called at 9:45 to say he was on the way then called again at 9:52 to say he was at the wrong address. They finally arrived a little after 10. The move was fairly uneventful except that they put a gash in my coffee table and broke a glass lamp shade. Their lunch break was supposed to be 30 minutes but they decided to go to In N Out for lunch and that ended up taking an hour and a half. We left the storage unit at 1 PM and I had to eventually call him at 2:21 to see where they were at. He didn't pick up so I had to text him. (I noticed the owner likes to call reviews fake so I put picture proof of all of this in the post.) They showed up at 2:30. They were done at 4:30. I was eventually charged for 7.5 hours when they only worked for 5 hours! I should have been charged around $740 but they manufactured an additional $700 in fraudulent charges. I called immediately after I got the final paperwork and I was immediately sent to voicemail, which was full. Do yourself a favor and DON'T USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE! There are far better, more professional, and less shady companies to use. *Edit: The tip was because they worked hard. Not because they were good. I've worked for tips before so I always make sure to tip for certain services, no matter what.  And it was two storage units, not three. One was 10x10 and one was 10x7. Plus the pod. Like I said, I made this exact move one year ago with a moving company from Orange County. They elected to show up with two guys and did a great job. No issues. Why would I think it would be different now?  As far as the time goes, they showed up at 10:00 and finished at 4:30 and had an hour and a half lunch break. It was five hours worth of work. Being charged for 7.5 hours is simply wrong, and probably illegal.  I'm adding pictures of the table and lamp. *Edit 2: I'm pretty sure you got my wife wrong. Her name isn't Michelle. Bottom line: the crew worked for five hours. You charged me for seven and a half hours. Do you really think me sending you an email would help anything? Of course not. But at least I can do whatever I can do to prevent others from having the same experience as me. I believe you overcharged me $631.96. As far as the mental health allegations go, I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to, but your rant here isn't exactly helping that. Last edit: I just received a cease and desist in the mail from Shawn Wood, owner of the company. He is claiming slander and libel. As I'm sure he knows though, in order for it to actually be libel or slander, it has to be false. So, in order to make sure that I am not libeling or slandering him or his business, I have gone through this review and made sure that it is all true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I wish I could give this company a zero rating. Called to speak to the owner and the woman that answered began to immediately attack. She was rude and kept accusing me of harrassment. She said she was blocking me from calling and then hung up and started texting me several random messages being forward to a Shawn's email. Which was absolutely ridiculous. I have never experienced such a rude and unprofessional organization. I caution you not to use this company ever! There are so many other reputable companies that are very professional and reputable. Steve and Brant helped us move from Temecula to Carlsbad. They didn't lollygag like other movers we've had, they moved around efficiently and were very professional. They are def skilled and experienced. They had great communication between eachother and kept it movin. They packed the truck up we rented perfectly. What a weird lie years after the fact. Never asked for a full refund, never gave any ultimatums. Just wanted them to help us find someone to repair the hutch. DO NOT USE!!! Booked 3 weeks ahead. Told Jackie (phone person) all details of items including a pool table. Get a call from the mover to go over details the night before the move and he informed the can take pool table apart but not put it back together. Really?!?! Jackie never told me that otherwise I would've booked a company who CAN!! i had to pay a pool table specialist and came out of pocket $245. They scheduled me between 8:30-9:30. Get a call they are running lat at 9:30. They were trying to give me a hard time as well because we went from needing 4 movers to 3 (since they will not do the pool table). I had to relocate from Riverside county to San Diego. I used the service of "students movers". There are several bad issues I had to face. At first, they arrived 4 hours late from scheduled time. Than their "boss" tell me that "this is not a big deal because they start charging me only at the time of actual arrival" . Than she threatened me, that if I will not " improve my attitude and stop complaining she will order boys to unload the track. She said they will leave and she will charge me the cancellation fee". When I asked her name, she said that she is " the owners mother and not a customer service girl". I had no choice at the moment and proceeded with service. Boys were nice and helpful, but they look amateur in this business. Some of my glass staff ended up broken. They do not do wraps for you, they have pile of blankets they use to cover large furniture. Worst moving mistake. The workers were hardworking and friendly. They were kind of rough on our stuff, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was the customer service person! I called on the more they were to drop off our stuff and she just tore into me like I was accusing them of doing something wrong. I mean this lady wouldn't stop talking uninterrupted for over 10 mins. I couldn't get a word in! When I finally did and explained I just wanted to find out when they would be arriving so I would be ready, she was somewhat nice. The movers came and I was called about the invoice. They were about $1000 over the estimate. I understand how estimates work, but I was just curious how they could be that far off. That same lady tore into me again, this time cussing at me and accusing me of misleading them on how long the move should take. I got really upset at being treated like that and finally spoke to the owner. He defended his employee like he should, but also treated me like I was the one causing the offense. This was our 2nd move with Student movers and again these guys worked their butts off. Last time we only hired them to unload, this time we did full service - 3 guys and had them bring the truck and supplies. I have some ridiculously heavy furniture and didn't hear a peep out of them. WE were also off with our estimate - so our 3 hour job turned into 8 and the guys stuck it out til the end. I am forever amazed by the people that let their unique, antique and non-replaceable items in the hands of other people. Why on earth wouldn't you move that yourself if it was so special? I made sure anything that was precious went bubbled wrapped in my car behind the moving truck. Anyway I digress, Student movers did a great job, very professional and great attitudes. The movers themselves were great, very nice, ...but they ARE student movers, wearing canvas tennis shoes in regular clothes (no steel toed shoes or lifting belts), it's the same as hiring your neighbors kid and their friends to come move boxes and heavy furniture. The lady at the facility yelled at us over the phone and called us names when we questioned being overcharged by $800?! I feel bad for the kids because they don't deserve to be represented by such a woman. Edit: I am a reputable source, I have proof. We had movers scheduled to move us from one apartment to another that was 500 ft. Away. Two guys showed up in a black mustang with no moving equipment, and asked if my apt. Complex had Dolly's they could use to transport our totes and boxes to the other unit. About 30 minutes into moving our belongings, they disappeared. I had been in the apartment helping them, and the door was wide open. I checked outside and I still had boxes and the dolly at the bottom of my stairs at the unit we were moving out of. They were no where to be found and then all of a sudden a heard their car start and watched them drive away. They did NOT notify us that they were leaving AND they left our VALUABLE belongings at the bottom of our our stairs for anyone to help themselves to. They did not notify our complex Managment that they were leaving, nothing. How incredibly unprofessional! We came to learn that Apparently one of the boys twisted his ankle while going down the stairs because he was carrying too many boxes at one time and couldn't see where he was stepping. Accidents happen, but to LEAVE MY BELONGINGS at the bottom of the stairs, then just up and leave with NO sort of communication is just unbelievable. There were TWO of them, the other could have run up real quick and said something. But nope. I wish I could give negative stars! Save you're self the frustration! I called today for help with my move and was told they have a four hour minimum and that it was California state law. Being that I don't need four hours of help and had never heard this law before I had questions. She was rude from the beginning of the call giving me attitude telling me that if I use something like craigslist there are repercussions. I never once mentioned Craigslist or any site like it. I told her I would look else where as I only need 2 hours. She said well things happen on move in day that could delay you. I told her I work where I live and am only move 3 building down so I wouldn't be having any issues or delays. I did some research and called back letting her know what I found. She immediately started to raise her voice and argue with me. I ended the call and began to look else where when I received these text messages from her. I tried calling after the text stopped so I could notify someone of this outrageous experience and they would not answer the phone. I had my friend call to get her name when she answered she immediately started yelling at her saying her voice was the same as the last caller. My friend calmly asked her for her name or a manager. The woman responded " we don't give out our names for safety purposes and I am the manager for today." My friend said then can I have corporates number she responded " this is corporate and I'm calling the police for harassment ". **update/response. I made my initial call then a 2nd call with questions as stated above. I was calling other movers already when the employee began texting me. I called 1 time after the texts stopped and didn't get an answer. My friend who was with me called 1 time for a name to notify a manager of this experience for the sake of the business reputation and to give them a chance to address this issue/employee. I had a confirmation for movers to come between 9-10 Am today. I called at 10 and quickly a phone call back telling me they are running late. The woman who works in the office I believe patched me through to the movers to leave a message with my number to ask for an ETA . She said she had called them a few times. At 11:30 I called back. Left 3 messages. Finally a phone call back. She said they are still at previous job. I told her it was unprofessional and they need to give me an ETA. I had been sitting in my car at the storage facility for 2.5 hours. She said to leave and she would call when I'm their way. I asked how long. She said about 45 minutes. I would have given a 5-star rating if they have came on time. I've made my appointment with Sean, and when he asked when I want the movers to be here, I first offered 9am. However, Sean said how about 8am. So I figure they might have a second move to go to, so I said sure. On the day of the move, the appointment was at 8am, but they finally showed up at 8:40am. Steve and Josh were my movers and they are young, strong, and quick about things. They did what they came here to do, and we went over a little bit of the 2 hour time frame but Steve was cool about it and didn't charge us extra. If you've got a truck rented but can't (or just don't want to) do the manual labor all by your lonesome, you can hire people by the hour to come help you pack, move, and unpack. Their prices are rock-bottom and the people are some of the hardest workers I've ever met. Steve and Ricky helped my mom make a big move from Murrieta to LA. These guys were phenomenal and the service they gave was worth every penny! WIthout them, she would have never been out in time. They packed some of her boxes. They loaded the truck absolutely full to the top--it looked like a real-life game of Tetris. If we'd done it ourselves, we would never have been as efficient, and we would have needed to make two trips. I was very disappointed with this service. Several of my furniture items were damaged. I had just purchased new couches, washer and dryer, and other items such as a new bench from Jerome's and tables.. ALL damaged! And when I called to file a claim I was told there was no claim dept and no claim form. No way to make a claim. The lady became extremely rude and began to raise her voice at me when I asked to speak to a supervisor. She ended up hanging up on me. I was so surprised because I thought they were a good company. They didn't seem to really know what to do as far as how to load a truck and the lead guy kept having to tell them how. The youngest guy told me he accidentally made a hole in my mattress while carrying it. He ripped a hole on bottom. He was upset about it and kept apologizing. My husband was told that the movers were veterans and ex military so we decided on them to support the fact that they hire military. Well come to find out that they meant veteran criminals. My husband and I both have over 10 years in law enforcement and my husband recognized one of the movers as someone who was arrested a while back. The mover guys said yeah he's been "locked up" a few times and he remembered my husband. The mover guys began to tell war stories about the times they were arrested and locked up while moving everything. Now this is not the problem the problem was the fact that none were ever in the military and so the company lied. The fact that they didn't take responsibility for the damage was the most upsetting. I am formally retracting my previous review on Student movers. I have used them a total of 4 times now. The first time was amazing! The second time was just as good. The third time was disappointing, BUT the fourth time was amazing as well. The price is right with Student Movers and Frances could not be sweeter through the booking process. After my most recent move, she called to make sure everything went well and that we were happy with the service. Frank and John were very nice men and worked very efficiently. They even stayed past the original scheduled time without complaining getting sloppy with the work. To anyone who had a not so positive experience in the past, I encourage you to try again because it was clear that things were much different now than in 2012. Interviewed 3 different moving companies before deciding to go with student movers. Let me start by saying the customer service was AMAZING!From the moment we called they worked with us and helped us meet our short deadline for a moving date. As soon as the team arrived, they were all smiles and super friendly. Manny cracked a joke right away and instantly bonded with us. My gf was worried about her grandmothers chair and dresser that has been passed down, and at first was hesitant to even let them touch it.... Let me tell you... The team did a better job showing the furniture care then she has over the years (If you read this, sorry babe but it's true). They showed it extra love and attention and we're sure to set her at ease about the whole process. When looking for a mover I think it's safe to say this is everything you would want....Friendly staff, great pricing, attention to detail, amazing customer service, and easy to work with. Could not recommend enough! We are in love with our new place, and we hope we don't have to move again any time soon, but if we ever did have to, I could 100% say with confidence that I would use them again.
